Discipline vs. Habit: What are your thoughts!?!

I know when we hear the word discipline in context to astrology the first thing we always think of is Saturn, but is habit just an uncontrolled Saturn? Or, is it a badly aspected Moon, maybe Mars is floating away in water, or Neptune has them all hostage in a mad house.

What are your thoughts?

As always many thanks and many blessings!

Habits are those traits of behaviour that occur automatically......i.e. said 'to occur without conscious (Sun) forethought(Mercury)' because they represent that which is already (inherently/instinctively) familiar. This is the realm of the Moon, which shows through sign how a person automatically reacts and responds to outer situations.
Have you ever been so lost in thought or doing something when going from familiar A to B that, at arrival, you wonder how you got there? The result of an sub-conscious automation mode that takes over control.

Saturn 'controls' too but it is more directed towards consciously handling outer situations through a behaviour pattern which has been learned through those experiences of outer reality. It acts through its perception of that reality; it doesn't REact to it. Through this (sign) perception it can achieve a discipline to always act in a specified manner towards that which it faces,...... whether this is in the person's favour or not.

Difficulties can arise when when Moon and Saturn are in adverse aspects to each other and/or to the same planet. How one feels and reacts towards something/someone can be entirely different to what action, deed, thought, and feeling show is actually going on.

My ½ cent.

Thanks, Frisiangal for all the

Great info. I like how you broke down the points. Easy to understand.

Question: If Saturn is adversely aspected to the Moon does that mean that that one or both of them will express the negative traits of the sign they are in? Also, what about the house?

Thanks again,
Amber

Not at all. A person needn't necessarily be afraid of its own shadow.
So much depends upon whether the individual is consciously aware (Sun) of what 'triggers' its Moon feelings (via aspects) in reacting in its sign fashion to manifested issues (Saturn).

When Moon feelings come up against any brick wall or barrier obstacle in its path(Saturn), what goes on inside? It can feel Saturn's 'pressure' upon it; the response to its duty and obligation, and how it should act. Yet these very feelings can seemingly suffocate, inhibit, restrict, and prevent taking any positive action (offered through other planets).
The harsh aspect can either show the attempt for Moon to find a manner to inwardly accept, tackle, and work with and through the issue(s) always
seemingly facing it, OR, it can choose to avoid it/them (as a result of possible anxiety through fear, reprisal, or guilt).

It should not be forgotten that the Saturnal brick wall can be 'protective' of nature. It can keep all adverse Moon feelings in check by showing the
manifestational reality upon which they are based; that which they are actually made and consist of, as compared to Moon's expectation imaginative quality. The 'I expect that to occur' (Moon) and waiting for it to happen (Saturn)....yet which may well not, causing disappointment or relief (Moon-Saturn), as the case may be

Moon-Saturn as a signification of emotional depression, through reasons shown elsewhere in the chart, is quite common whatever sign or house they are in.

There can be a difference in how the harsh aspect works.
If Moon is ahead of Saturn by sign, it carries 'the weight of Saturn' within its inherent nature. It reacts though its own authority to outer situations.
If Saturn is ahead of Moon by sign, the Moon feelings are not so much
inherent but come up against the challenging authoritarian issues in daily
life, with which it has to contend.

Moon represents one's needs. Saturn may signify that it isn't always readily available , yet it will also show why.

Through which circumstances the harsh aspects will operate will be shown by their house position. Difficult to discuss without specifics.

Habits are usually associated with the Moon. But since different planets rule different aspects of our personality and areas of our life, there's more to the story and it's a bit more complicated.
