Astrology, The Physical Body, and Contradictions

I've been interested in how astrology influences the natural physical adult body in a native. I've only been studying this practice for 9 years, but I've had even newer people ask me what in the chart refers to the body. It's a peculiar yet interesting question I would like to get more insight on.

I've read a few forum pages on the subject, but few talk about the 6th house or the 2nd in relation, neither are the planets in 1st house regarded towards body (just mostly face and personality).

I'm particularly interested because I'm doing a project where I digitally piece together someone's appearance from the past (without a photo) just using other information. I decided to use astrology to assist me, but this is turning out more difficult than I anticipated. XD

I particularly see the Ascendant/Rising often being referred to the body, but I'm not sure if this is the most dominant factor.

The ruling planet of the Rising and its decanate, aspects to the Rising, some websites have said the Rising sign's, decanate (?), and planets in the first house (especially in close range to the Ascendant).

Then there's people who refer to the Sun sign, which I can't deny as Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Janelle Monae (all Sag Suns) have that distinct wide-toothed, horsey smile. However, I'm not sure if the Sun influences the body type. Some astrologers consider the Ascendant more influential than the Sun.

Some people have said the Moon sign influences chest size in women. Not sure how accurate this is, but other websites have referred to the Ascendant when thinking of chest area.

But I've also read that the 6th house rules the body, health, exercise, which can change the body type, both with the sign cusp and the planets within.

The 2nd house can change the body type as it rules resources (which I assume goes under the bracket of food too), both sign and planets within.

However, I had an astrologer tell me that those two houses aren't as distinct on the appearance as the rising sign... o_O

Mars rules energy, and I'm assuming that someone with low energy may not exercise as much as someone with high energy...But maybe I'm wrong with this...

I'm especially having a problem with the contradictions with the websites I've been reading, especially regarding my own rising.

Many websites have said that Scorpio Rising produces a Plump figure, which I'm not and never have been. As a female, I'm super, super skinny and petite, even frail. I have Moon in Scorpio in 1st and Pluto in Scorpio in 1st. Mars is in Pisces.

The same website also referred to Taurus rising as plump, but Miley Cyrus doesn't fit that description (though maybe her round face could indicate that plumpness in the future is possible...)

http://www.elbertwade.com/page105.html

Two websites got it right with me: 1) http://reocities.com/athens/delphi/1601/physical.html

2) http://www.serendipity-astrolovers.com/astrological-signs-2.html#axzz4Ke0mJWMI

Regarding the first link, the one thing I disagreed with was his take on Taurus Rising with the decanate of Taurus, as well as the one with Capricorn, which he said was mostly flat chested. Observing both Mariah Carey and Mae West, I disagree that Taurus rising women have flat chests, and think that Amelia Earhart has other influences giving her a flat chest...

But I would like to study this more and learn. If anyone can recommend books, websites, or any insight to assist me, I would be very happy and appreciative.

We share similar Moon/Pluto location in Scorpio & Mars in Pisces. I felt really drawn to your style of writing, perhaps has to do with your 3rd house being on my 4th.

I've been doing some research on the same subject for awhile now. Let me tell you it is very complicated, I didn't crack the code yet but have gained valuable knowledge.

Are you familiar with Ayurveda? I went to a specialist awhile ago when I was first introduced with this amazing doctrine. Through many indications of my physical attributes, he concluded I am a Pitta/Kapha (Fire/Earth) type, with very low Vata (Air). He even said I was a clear-cut Pitta type, that it was very obvious, despite concluding eventually that I'm about 50% Pitta dominant followed by 35% Kapha.

Astrologically, if going solely by signs locations, I'm a heavy Air user. Libra Ascendant (no planets in the 1st), Gemini Sun, Venus Rx & Mercury conjuction in Gemini. However, if going by houses, I have no Airy planets. Uranus & Saturn retrograde towards the 3rd, but sit on the IC, so I consider them a 4th house similarly to considering my 29 degree Venus Rx (Mercury is less clear as it rules the 9th) sitting on the Cancer MC a 10th house, based on how I see these planets play out in my life.

Despite having only one Fire planet, Uranus in Sag, and only the Sun (perhaps Mercury) in a Fire house, my body's dominant element is Fire, or Pitta. That despite having Libra Rising. My chart is Water/Earth heavy, and still, Fire is stronger than these elements in my physical body. The doctor saying I'm a definite Pitta just by looking at me means it's not just internally dominant but my face & general structure is that of a Fire type. Mercury, the 9th's (Fire) ruler, does conjuncts Venus, so allegedly the 1st house ruling physicality / our face is directly influenced by Sagittarius, what's more when Uranus in Sag opposites my Venus/Mercury conjunction.

The 2nd/6th and their rulers will influence one's makeup as these houses directly relate to consumption of matter, to both how & what we eat, and why we eat. But even here, it's so difficult to get a clear cut influence. My Scorpio Moon/Pluto sits on the 2nd, Jupiter in Taurus/8th, Mars in 6th, Neptune - the 6th ruler, in the 4th. I'm an Emotional eater. Big time. Not only in the sense of eating due to emotions, but food heavily connects in my psyche to emotional situations. When I reminiscent on childhood, on vacations, family situations, it ALWAYS brings up first a memory of food. When fasting, I could crave a certain food I didn't eat in 10 years just because the emotional reaction to the situation in which I ate that food, the atmosphere around eating it, the warmth around that certain dish. And despite all that, I'm thin, and most of my life could spend entire days without eating anything, forgetting to eat and even downright saying that if I could give up on food, I would. When I'm immersed in something, food becomes a nuisance, an obligation I would prefer to abstain from for the sake of keeping doing whatever it is I'm doing. So, you have a heavy emotional eater who wishes to give up on food and can abstain from eating for a very long time. ;)

I think Astrology is way too versatile to get a clear correlation between one's chart and their physicality. It is possible, but extremely hard as I believe any single aspect/location could potentially create a drastically different person than what seems on the chart.

The Sun seems to be the dominant factor, but other planets play a big part to. Especially planets in aspect to the Sun /1st house planets or Ascendant.

Also, I've noticed there are a few typical faces in signs of the same element and sometimes when I think someone is a particular sign they end up being a different sign but of the same element. For instance, I see that "horsey-face" Saggitarius look you mention in Leona Lewis, but she's an Aries (same element). Often Virgos have a close-together-eyed rodent type look but that can sometimes show up in Taurus/Capricorn influences as well. And there's a heart shaped face that I usually see with Libras but also appears on Gemini's and Aquariuses.

A fruitful excersise is to find celebrity dopplegangers (ones who look similar to eachother) and then analyse their charts. What you'll tend to find is that they will have similar elemental makeup but with different planets that are dominant in their charts.

Take Zoey Deschanel and Katy Perry for instance. They look very much like eachother. Katy Perry is Scorpio rising with a bunch of planets in Scorpio. Scorpio is ruled by Mars and her Mars is in Capricorn. Each of her planets in Scorpio is disposited then by Mars in Capricorn and her Ascendant is ruled by Capricorn.

Zoey Deschanel is Capricorn rising with a bunch of planets in Capricorn. Her Saturn (ruling planet) is aspecting Neptune in Saggitarius. Katy Perry has Venus in Sagitarius. Also Zoey has Uranus in Scorpio aspecting her Ascendant.

So we can deduce that they both have a Capricorn/Scorpio/Saggitarius look going on, but the way it's manifested in the chart is different.

You can learn a lot doing this with celebrities that look like eachother, or with people you know that share similar physical characteristics.

I love this topic. Until about three years ago I believed I was an Aries rising because I misremembered my birth time as 3:05 AM instead of the actual time, 5:03 AM. I was disappointed at first to learn I was Taurus rising, because I didn't feel or look Taurus in my opinion, at all. However, in a recent thread someone pointed out that my eyes and forehead are indeed Taurean (they're prominent). As for the chestal region...also Taurean, I think.

I've come to accept that I'm very Taurean, especially as I get older. I am very physical and in the physical world. I need to feel comfortable and good for my brain and emotions to work. I walk quickly and appear to have a purpose, though. I always thought that was Aries-like. I do have Sun in first house, though.

Venus is dominant in my chart, and I think it sort of softens and rounds out my Gemini characteristics.

My moon is in Pisces, but I can't figure out how Pisces are "supposed to look". It's a nebulous concept to me. My husband is Pisces sun and Taurus rising. I don't know what to make of his looks. He's tall, thin, and broad-shouldered, with kind of sultry looks.

With this site you can compare pictures of famous people born on the same day. I see definite patterns.

Hi, I am also very interested in this topic. I am predominantly fire, and water and I do relate to a lot of the personality description. I also feel that I do look like my predominant signs (Pisces, Scorpio, Libra); and planets Neptune, Sun, and Venus.

I have Mars in Aries, and I feel this position make me obsessed with working out. I have to stay active or else I get extremely fatigue and lazy.
I am a Scorpio rising in Western, Libra in Vedic. I have dimples on my face ( one on the left cheek, one on the chin). Saturn is in my first house, but not conjunct my ascendant. Venus is in Aries/Pisces, conjunct to Mercury Aries/ Pisces ( western/ Vedic), Sun is in Pisces all in the 5th house with a Leo Midheaven that has almost all Trines. I have no conjunction to my ascendant, just Jupiter square. I am 5'6.5, curvy, hourglass but gain weight easily if I don't watch what l eat. I love sweet, fine dining, and good food lol. I am also very beauty conscious and love fashion. My mom, sister, and me all have Venus trine or conjunct Midheaven. We all love make-up, fashion, and beautiful things. My sister and mom are both beauticians.

Yeah that would be useful for noticing solar influence patterns in a lot of them since they'd have the same Sun signs. When you look at a lot of them you can get an idea of certain face types that keep popping up even though there's a lot of other influences going on.

I noticed a bit of Capricorn from your profile pic but then couldn't see it in your chart or earth but then noticed you posted a vedic chart. I guess your Moon would be in Capricorn in the tropical zodiac. I think the elements translate a lot better in the western system, the vedics don't seem to pay much attention to the elements but they do have a way of describing physical features from their interpretation of the placements.

I am moon in Scorpio in Western. Maybe the Capricorn is due to Saturn in the first?
