Greetings and Happy New Year everyone! :) No, I don't actually go by "Waldo". I just used that for the subject line. ;) This is a quality forum and it's great being here.

I've been a student of astrology since 1990. I'm slightly more experienced now, but still consider myself a student. There's always more to learn, and the journey of evolution never ends! ;) I respect all forms and schools of astrology, but especially appreciate the spiritual growth aspects of Esoteric Astrology.

I authored the astrology software program Astrolog in 1991. I'm interested in the study of houses, and have developed a few new house systems over the years, such as 3D houses, sinusoidal houses, and balanced equal houses. I also research the astrological properties of newly discovered bodies, or those that haven't been considered much before, such as moons of other planets.

Hey..... I actually remember looking at your chart years ago on your website. I also vaguely remember you having a colourful biography and noting your Sagittarius stellium vs. Your Scorpio Sun.

Welcome from one Sag stellium to another

our TRADITIONAL ASTROLOGY ONLY board
is at
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum...splay.php?f=92

For discussions on Traditional Astrology only.
Note: Typically, traditional astrology is defined as using techniques developed prior to 1700 by astrologers from the Hellenistic, Persian, Hebrew, and Renaissance eras.
Specifically it relies on Ptolemaic aspects sextile, trine, square, opposition and conjunction
and excludes modern planets Neptune, Uranus and Pluto
non-Ptolemaic aspects, as well as any asteroids.
The focus is less on what would be considered modern psychological chart interpretation
and more on prediction.
Members who wish to explore a combination of traditional and modern ideas
should feel free to start a new thread in an appropriate forum for further discussion.

our MODERNIST ASTROLOGY ONLY board
is at https://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=95
For discussions on Modern Astrology only.
Note: Typically, modern astrology is defined as using techniques developed around the late 1800s by Theosophists.
Specifically it relies on psychological, evolutionary, karmic, and non-western interpretation approaches
and includes Neptune, Uranus and Pluto
and non-Ptolemaic aspects.
The focus is more on psychological chart interpretation instead of prediction.

Hi, welcome! I’ve also got a Sag stellium. Really like your alternate house systems (and the 3D sphere) as my main struggle with astrology is themes on map vs territory.
Cool, more Sagittarius! :D

"3D houses" is the most radical new house system, especially since it's really a class of different house systems, in which planetary latitude is also looked at to determine house position. That means there are 3D versions of all classic systems, just that they have their wedge shaped areas and poles aligned with the local horizon, instead of the ecliptic. In addition to 3D Campanus (the most generic and preferred in my opinion, since it's has equal sized houses) there's 3D Regiomontanus, 3D Placidus, and so on. :p

About map versus territory, I like how astrologer Steven Forrest philosophically considered this in his book "The Inner Sky", when he wrote:

"Woven into the compass rose, the cartographer had written the words, 'The Map Is Not the Territory'. And my bubble burst. I could bravely study every square inch of that map in an hour, but to run its waterways and walk its paths I would have to face calluses and cowardice enough to last a lifetime. Astrology is like that. It is a map. It describes the terrain of the human mind. But the map is not the territory."

You’d mentioned offhandedly on your webpage that maybe a 3D sphere was needed, and it seems like it would be a really nice complement to serious study to have an actual physical sphere available.
3D "chart spheres" (as opposed to classic 2D wheel charts) are a thing, and Astrolog can display them. These spheres aren't just drawn on a screen, but are 3D models that can be drawn in perspective, such as seen in this video. The 3D model can be exported as a wireframe, which means something that understands its format should be able to 3D print an actual physical chart sphere for you.

I would suggest it may not be the most prudent idea to give one's real name or physical location
on forums like this for reasons of privacy and personal safety.

Not to frighten you, but since this is the internet, advise you not to use anything resembling your real name or to geolocate yourself; in other words, as much as possible, be X from ZYX.
Please do not give out personal information. No one here has a right or need to ask you to.

Hello Astrolog's owner! Glad to see you here in this Astrology Weekly forum!
(I love your link about esoteric astrology a LOT!)
Hello in return! :) That's cool you like the Esoteric Astrology page on my site. Note that I just updated that page a couple of days ago, by adding a new "Wheel Chart Demo" section: https://www.astrolog.org/astrolog/asteso.htm#wheel

The page now offers a downloadable Astrolog script file which will allow one to automatically color wheel charts using the colors of the Seven Rays. Planets will be colored based on their Ray, signs will be a blend of the 1-3 Ray colors associated with that sign, and houses will be colored by the Ray(s) of the planet(s) ruling the sign in which the cusp is placed (taking into account decans too). Below is an example of my chart colored in this manner:

Unfortunately, I'm on mobile so I couldn't use Astrolog to delineate charts

Yes, Astrolog is desktop app, and don't have an iOS or Android version yet. However, Astrolog can be accessed through any Web browser, even on mobile. On the astro.com site, in the Extended Chart Selection area, there's a "Pullen/Astrolog" tab which allows displaying Astrolog text and graphics charts. It's an older version of Astrolog running on their server, and it doesn't offer access to all Astrolog features (such as the Esoteric Astrology script above), but it's still technically Astrolog on mobile. ;)
