Uncertainty about future (career, ambitions...)

Hello everyone.

I need help reading my chart to figure out what careers would suit me. I realize I have quite a few capabilities, but I have no clue how to apply them to a full time job for several reasons.
-Either one has to be at the top of the heap (in order to make money out of a talent or in order to be hired by a company or government agency)
-Either I don't have all of the qualifications yet (such as learning how to climb a wall if I want to be a park ranger in one agency I tried applying for)
-Budget cuts are limiting my choices in terms of jobs

Ever since 2010, I've had to look for a job, but I'm struggling to get a full-time job that pays sufficiently. I've mainly applied for environmental consulting firms and park agencies without success. I've also had a few interviews that didn't work out.

My current situation: I work at a small environmental NGO. I love the variety in the job, it's giving me self-confidence (I realize what I am capable of) and it's really increasing my qualifications. The only downside is that it doesn't pay enough, and unfortunately, the existing system requires having enough money to live.

Yes I could take certification courses in conjunction with my hard-earned university degree in geology, but I see a lot of uncertainty in my life. I'm not sure where or how I could apply my potential.

I was initially enthusiastic about trying to relocate, but I realize that the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side (which makes me reluctant to apply again for jobs outside the area I live in).

I also have political ambitions in the sense that I want a system that encourages long-term plans, preservation and sustainability. But I don't know when I'll have that chance.

So here is my birth chart. Let me know what it says about my career prospects, my future and my political ambitions.

Thank you in advance.

Saturn, Uranus conj MC is rather challenging.
Saturn's sign indicates what you find uncomfortable and must learn to manage.

Where and how you feel a lack of confidence -- the house position of Saturn defines where you need to establish your skills, an issue you worry about and wish you could depend on!
When Saturn and Uranus fall in the same sign or house we get caught in a cleft stick, wanting to make changes but fearing to let go of the old.

Saturn conjunct Uranus

The combination of Saturn and Uranus shows that great discipline is needed in the way you develop your ideas. You have an inclination to 'go your own way' and can often find yourself at odds with the views of others; you may suffer from dissapointment and frustration as a result. But you possess remarkable self-will and when you apply discipline and maturity to your actions, you are capable of destroying boundaries and making breakthroughs that are of lasting value to yourself and others.

You have calculated your chart using the default on astro.com of placidus and I use Equal House system and am a modern astrologer. Lots of people that come into Astrology get their free charts calculated at www.astro.com and the default ‘house system’ used is Placidus and think that’s just the norm and all that there is……..BUT that is just the tip of the iceberg. You can change the default on astro.com in Extended Chart selection to Equal house and a few more.

Throughout the forums but mainly in natal astrology there are two main branches Placidus (unequal size houses) v Equal House (whereby each house is same size) but lots more……. For more information on these go here.

It's only with study and research will you be able to assess where your planets are deposited and in which houses... thus see which 'glove fits'

Career options are assessed by MC any planets conjunct, where the ruler of MC is placed, it’s aspects, then 2nd house ‘how you earn your money’ and planets there, ruler of cusp and where it’s placed, then 6th house of ‘type of work you do’ any planets there and how they are aspected.

Researching rulers of houses will help you understand more where I joining the dots so to speak

Kite with moon as apex
http://www.cafeastrology.com/articles/aspectpatterns.html
“Whenever a person has a kite in his chart, he is considered to be more likely to be successful in his endeavours because the opposition will give him the push to go out and conquer the obstacles that are presented to him, and the sextiles will give him a little bit more harmony once he has achieved his goals.”

But mars retrogarde is involved in this configuration which may cause delays in actions. Jupiter ruler of MC is 3rd house conjunct 4th house cusp, suggesting possible work from home. Ruler of 2nd Aries/mars is conj 2nd house cusp of how you earn and spend your money

Jupiter Quincunx (Inconjunct) Neptune

The imaginative and humanitarian side of your nature needs lots of exercise in a "trial and error" manner before you are able to get your best skills to emerge in a way that is non-intrusive and can elicit the best qualities in others. The artistic side of your nature may seek a manner of expression that allows you to stay behind the scenes so you do not have to climb the learning curve required to interface directly with the public.
http://www.cafeastrology.com/natal/quincunxinterpretations.html

this aspect can suggest generosity to the wrong people at the wrong times, so be careful..

mars Quincunx (Inconjunct) Pluto

You suffer by having a picture of just what needs to be done and how it is to be accomplished. This can cause you to be controlling and argumentative. When you feel the weight of the responsibilities that you have taken on or when you feel lonely and isolated, then, you are ripe for personal growth. Your desire, manner of expression, and the way you use energy will have to be changed - to be less compulsive, less forceful, so you are able to achieve greater accomplishment and more personal happiness.

sometimes this aspect can attract physical violence and not understand why

Thank you for the reply astrologer50. I'm learning a lot from your post. I'll definitely read more about the planets located in cusps between houses.

I didn't know that Equal Houses carried more weight than Placidus. I knew about the differences between Sideral and Tropical, but I wasn't sure about the meaning of Koch, Placidus, Equal...houses.

Yes, Saturn conjunct Uranus is not an easy configuration (however, I thought Sun Square Saturn, Mars Square Neptune and Sun Square Uranus were going to be bigger issues). It is true that I am the kind of person who wants to move forward, but who feels held back due to fear in its various forms. There's this weird combination of rebellion and orderliness at the same time (a desire to make meaningful and lasting improvements without any chaos). Yes, I have views and values that set me apart from the mainstream, but with my persistence in making my views more and more pertinent (but still outside the box) and developing better self-mastery, I'm getting across more easily. In light of world events, I certainly feel more "accepted" in 2011 than in...2008 when I faced considerable rejection because of my lack of faith in convention or my distrust towards wolves in sheep's clothing (people can notice bare wolves, but wolves in sheep's clothing seem to be harder to recognize).

But I realize I have to put up with what exists for now. It's hard because I realize the need for new values and new systems that can bring out better things in people and reduce anguish, but I have to continue putting up with a morally bankrupt socio-economic system because that's what previous generations have established, and I'm too young to do anything about it for now.

I've come to terms with the fact that people in the working world (and even in their personal lives when it comes to picking eco-friendly options etc.) have to balance quality and profits in the monetary system, which is why even genuine support for the environment or health is hard to find with the current socio-economic structure which often reduces such good intentions into half-heartedness.

I also realize that no matter how bad things are, people are afraid of change even if it's for the better. So I have to express such desires in a way that doesn't startle people too much.

Nonetheless, I tell myself that when I have enough work experience, I can make a case for a viable alternative system that can bring out the better side of humanity, reduce distress and make good goals easier to achieve.

Oh wow...so I have a Kite as a configuration. I never noticed that! Yes, my life has often been defined by conquering obstacles in order to advance. This pattern seems to have occurred over and over again in my life.

Wow, I didn't know I had some of those aspects, they indeed represent some of the trials I've had in life.

From what I knew about Mars Retrograde, it denoted difficulties in self-assertion (something I did have to work on). But at the same time, it is very good in overcoming personal shortcomings.

Indeed obstacles have pushed me to develop qualities I never thought I had such as the discovery that I can hike for long hours in adverse conditions. Now if I could climb over a 5-ft wall I'd feel complete. ^^

I didn't know much about inconjuncts, but what you said explains quite a few things.

Concerning the Jupiter Inconjunct Neptune aspect, I've learned to become more discerning of people and choosier in who I should bestow my generosity. I also realize that when my expression of humanitarianism (or other qualities) becomes more subtle it becomes a part of me.

As far as the Mars Inconjunct Pluto aspect, yes I do have this image of what I think life could be. The "urgency" I feel can make me feel compulsive, but I'm trying to tone that down and develop patience because I realize I need allies for my causes. Yes it's important to have a vision, but it's also important to have people who have the details needed to fill in the gaps (such as knowing experts in veterinary medicine, organic farming...who want a system where they can reach their goals more easily).

Unfortunately, I'm also aware that I'm in a system where any attempt to advocate well-being, the environment or peace runs the risk of making people resentful.

Concerning the job search, I realized I'll probably need to stick around in my part-time job and get a 2nd part-time job. The main reason why is because I am learning a lot from my current workplace, I get recognition, and I think I can learn a lot more (even if the pay isn't enough). If I work one more year, I'll probably become an extremely qualified applicant, and hopefully my employer can help me find something in her network that is very well-suited to my personality that will also enable me to live an independent life.

Midheaven in Sagittarius really does describe me, for I love variety in a job (and a sense of adventure if possible). Yes I can sound stubborn in my ways, but I can actually be flexible if I'm confronted with convincing evidence.

Hm, with the equal houses configuration, there is a difference.

All right, here's my current situation.

The good news: I have an additional day of work at the NGO in the workweek. And with networking, hopefully computer tutoring may be a 2nd source of income.

I'm also really trying to get a full-time job in environmental consulting (I realize I like travel, variety and field work...and some firms had very interesting projects to look at). Will I get a job in this field?

I was willing to apply for small jobs as well as a 2nd part-time job...Will I have any luck there?

Your question would be suitable for a horary question, IF you follow the basic rules
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/faq.php?faq=horary#faq_horary_astrology_boards
You could try asking a horary question in that forum, by posting a chart and asking a question with yes or no answer but first you need to learn few basics and at least attempt an interpretation as horary is inundated with silly questions and senior members get very frustrated....

@Astrologer50

All right, I'll try to learn more about horary astrology.

Ouch, so the Saturn in the 8th house transit could explain my difficulties obtaining a job (even a small job) and the financial pressure from my parents to develop my own source of income.

I'm just glad I work three days a week at a worthy non-profit, a job I've obtained at a party.

As a 2nd source of income I am considering establishing computer tutoring centers in religious establishments (I'm intimidated, but I realize I need to get out of my shell, and it IS less risky than other types of business ventures because the computer equipment would already be available).

I also realize I'll have to learn a lot more about taxes as a result (in a job where an employer pays me, most of the tax work is already done, but if I'm partially self-employed, then I'll have to do a lot of tax work).
