when a sign inhabits 2 houses, a transit affects which house?

This is a question I always have when reading my horoscope for my rising sign and for others... for example, I am a Cancer rising at 24 degrees (Gemini sun, merc, venus, NN, Chiron) so Capricorn begins in the 6th house for me, cusps on the 7th house and ends soon after. Pluto is in my 6th house and is about to go Retro on April 9th-- as a cancer rising it says it would be affecting my 7th house and while Cap is on the cusp, pluto is still smack in the middle of my 6th... so how would one interpret this? Is it affecting the house it cusps or the house its in?

to give you some of my personal examples of major transits to MC. It does not just affect work/career...
T Saturn hit my MC when my first husband after divorce decided to disappear and avoid paying maintenance. This put me on the benefit system for 12months until I tracked him down. I ended in Court 4x to get an attachment on his earnings..... not a nice time

When T Pluto hit my MC my father died, same time T Pluto conj my mothers sun..

When T Uranus hit my MC my first marriage started breaking down, same time T Pluto opp Moon. On the Retrograde hit of Uranus I filed for divorce, first hit spoke to solicitor, but reconciled til next hit...

Uranus was squaring my natal venus at 25 gemini but now that it's in Aries things (seem to) have begun to look up, if only because its passed the threshold... also, my moon is 0 Aqua which is currently trine Uranus so I haven't felt the negative energy so much yet but I'm scared that it's going to catch me off guard... I've been more afraid to randomly lose my job than anything else and I am actively looking for a new job now with no success in the 6 weeks I've been looking... but I guess that's not as bad as some folks...
T Uranus last made a square to venus/sun last year and is no longer affecting or afflicting venus. Uranus hard aspect to venus or moon is on my list of divorce aspects...

I'm literally making myself over to help my job search, dieting, changing my hair style, tweaking my confidence and personality... however, going on a diet is long overdue and has a lot of spiritual meaning/healing, as letting go of this weight has a lot to do with letting go of some 4th house clutter...
