Over here a few years back, an anti-gay state legislator got arrested for drunk driving... as he was leaving a gay bar.

Not as colorful as your story, but in the same vein.

Anyone noticed the most vocal homophobes are the ones who are caught in gay s-e-x scandals??? Self-hatred is a thing in psychology when a person does things they preach they are against. Not only they are hypocrites, they are completely hard to understand.

I have read that judges, are harsher on criminals, that do what their own evils are. Trying I guess to draw eyes away from their own failings.

Very true. And remember the Pulse shooting, where a guy went into gay nightclub and shot lots of people? The shooter had a secret gay life. He'd been going to that club for a while, but sitting in a corner and not mingling, before he did it.
