I have an eighth house sun. I love horror stories of the dark fantasy or psychological thriller variety. That started when I was 11. Before that, I hated anything scary. I was the kid who would close my eyes at the wicked witches in Disney movies because they were too scary. We used to watch the cartoon version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at school, and I couldn't stand to watch the headless horseman scene (although as an adult, I think it's hilarious).
My mom still likes to tell the story of how, when I was around 6-7, I refused to even be in the same room as a book we got out of the library that had a very frightening (to me) illustration of a monster in it.
But when I was 11, I fell in love with the books of John Bellairs. With The House With a Clock In Its Walls coming out as a movie, I'm being taken back to that time. Almost overnight, I went from hating scary stories to loving them, especially if they had something supernatural in them. John Bellairs hit the sweet spot for 11-year-old me: very scary books that always had a supernatural evil in them, and, no matter how grim the story got, there was always a happy ending.
I've wondered if my eighth house suddenly kicked in, somehow, at age 11. Of course, it was in my life all along, but what would correlate, astrologically, with that kind of shift?
I didn't have a significant Pluto transit at that time, but Neptune was sitting on my ascendant that year. I wonder if there's a correlation there?
Do any other eighth house sun, moon, etc. people have similar experiences?
