Your Favourite Films!

Step 01 - Go back in time.
Step 02 - Attempt to remember films you've enjoyed.
Step 03 - List your films here.
Step 04 - Pat yourself on the back and return to the present time zone.

* Papillon.
* Fargo.
* A Simple Plan.

Re: Your Favourite Films!

OK, Movies! One of my favorite subjects (besides Astrology, of course!)

(In no particular order, although I do have an extreme attachment to No.1)

1 The Princess Bride
2 Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
3 Frequency
4 Bedazzled
5 Dude! Where's My Car?
6 Crash
7 A Perfect World
8 Million Dollar Baby
9 The Shawshank Redemption
10 Beetlejuice
11 Catch Me If You Can
12Amadeus
13 Immortal Beloved
14 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
15 Last of the Mohicans
16Christmas Vacation
17 Tombstone
18 All the Star Wars movies
19 All the Harry Potter movies
20 All the Pirates of the Caribbean movies
I'll stop now. ( I loooove movies!)

Do these fit a Saggie with Cappy rising and an Aquarius moon?

Would have posted sooner, but I kinda got lost somewhere between Step 01 and Step 02.

Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstien
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Steve Martin's The Jerk
Valley Girl (it was about the music.... and a young Nicholas Cage)
Surf II ( again, the music)
Always
The Color Purple

Going back even further.... ( I need a fade out and a ride in Mr.Peabody's way back machine... don't even try to figure that out if you are under 40)

TOMMY ( the Who's rock opera)
Sgt Pepper's ( with Peter Frampton, the BeeGees, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith...)
Sabrina (original with Bogart)
The Manchurian Candidate (original and the newest)

After I hit send, I will remember the ones I REALLY liked!

Re: Your Favourite Films!

Another great thread started by you!!MY triple Aries placements enjoy this"What's your favourite..."threads..I could certainly entertain you(or bore you, better said)for a long time just talking about my favourite things!

Some of Hollywood's pieces of art(or not)that really captivated me:

-The Princess's Diary 2
-50First Dates(must add I stoop up to the movie's name and watched it about50times as well)
-Murder By Numbers
-The Sound Of Music(I just love the scene when she's dancing with the baron what's his name on his house,on the night where they had a party..I haven't watched this movie in along time because my VCR is broken, which is really sad..I just love this film)
-Hoodwinked! (alright,I understand this sound very childish but I just loooove this movie!)
-Scary Movies3and4
-Red Dragon
-Catch Me If You Can
-Chicago
-Mr. Magoo
-Wrongfully Acused

And now,the one and only...

Johnny English
My favourite movie ever!!!I just love the scene when they're in church and he shows the cardeal's **** to everyone, just the prove he's not the real one(in fact,he is..)...when my VCR was OK I used to play that scene over and over again..and I laughed so hard I even cried...as I usually do when I find somehting really funny You need to check out this trailer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Pgb2UVpZ0c and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbLNDjgxJ7M. Oh,and I also really liked that movie where Mr.Bean is mistaken by an expert in art and he completely destroys a very famous painting, altough I can't remember what was the movie's name.Maybe someone could help?

Some forgotten ones earlier.

A Clockwork Orange
Winged Migration (documentary)
The Helstrom Chronicles
Strange Brew (Doug and Bob Mackenzie)

and a film that was never released in the US in regular theatres, video or cable, but I saw at an art festival.... Restless Natives (from Scotland)

Re: Your Favourite Films!

Being a lover of film and anything thats not to trendy in forefront this is a dificult post, I dont think Ive ever really had a favorite, but I'll put a few down, I just happen to have my dvd case 3 inches away from my right hand.
---------
IN NO ORDER
1)Boondock Saints-Good film, violent yes, but still good

2)Mr and Ms Smith- Just love Miss Jolie, she's a favorite of mine, amazing actress in the roles shes portrayed, Brad Pitts pretty cool too, like you could probably have a beer with the guy and he'd be alright, Its a funny flic and has quite a bit of action. I like Action.

3)Pirates of the carabean, ALL OF THEM-havent seen the last yet, but **** it looks good, Depp is an amazing talent, as well as the rest of the cast, amazing idea for a flic, hard to believe at times that it is a ......gulp.....disney film, I just never liked the fact that mickey mouse was white, odd huh.

4)The excercism of emily rose, I liked everything but the end, what a stupid ending, I liked all the rest, probably the best of all the excorcist films, but that ending I just thought was so stupid, not the ending ending but a little
before the ending. I dont want to ruin it for anyone who hasnt seen it.
5)The Island- well done and a good film that is against genetic cloning for body parts, something I am quite against, which is very possible, I wouldnt be suprised to find that it isn't being done right now for a few rich fellows out there.

6)Hostel---yes it is completely sick, but it is based on real events and a real place that this type of stuff happened and thats just an eye opener to the fact that some people are just nuts, It sort of scared the beatnick out of me, take care when you travell to new lands and distant places. Ive got alot of stuff in the 12H House so this shi$ scareed the hell out of me.

7)One I think everyone can apreciate, dont know how to spell it,The shawshank redemption, Amazing film about never giving up and keeping it together, till the day you are free from just about any kind of oppression, and or false accusation, its about injustice and how to deal sorta.
lovely film.

8)THe star wars films-You will never see me standing in line for a ticket with a lightsaber anytime soon, but those films were pretty **** good, my dad hated star wars, everything has to be "real" we never got along.

9)The first Matrix, I liked that one the best

10)Chaos- a good film by a young director, any numerologists out there, youll dig this film.its an older film, low budget, still good.

11)Ill end here, for now!
THe Edge----one of my absolute favorites-
with lines like,
what one man can do another can do!
and
Im gonna kill the ****** bear!
Anthony hopkins is the man in this film!
It has man vs nature, man vs man, greed vs percistance and hard work and really the show of how a person's charector, will, and itegrity, decides alot of their life and how it will turn out.
Its a good film and I would recommend it to anyone.

Why is the rabbit smoking a pipe?

The Shawshank Redemption

I agree with freedomlover and tsquare. Infact, is there anyone in this world that doesn't love this movie?

It says on Wikipedia that it was "based on the Stephen King novella, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption." I never knew that before.

The Shawshank Redemption does seem to be a runaway favorite. Everyong that I can think of that I've ever discussed movies with has listed it as one of their favorites. If you run through random Myspace pages, it will be listed as one of their favorite movies the vast majority of the time -at least in my experience. I wonder what it is about this movie that seems to touch so many people at such a deep level?

Re: Your Favourite Films!

I think so many people enjoy it because it enables them to take part (and also succeed) in something that they're too scared to do in the real world, and that is... To go and live their dreams.

Ever seen "Wedding Crashers?" Chazz Reinhold (i.e. Will Ferrell) sums it up well, when he says...

"I'm just living the dream!"

That Chazz, he's the man!

Re: Your Favourite Films!

I consider myself an amateur movie critic so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. These are my all-time fav:

1) Brainstorm (Natalie Woods' last film; awesome. Love Chris Walken too!)
2) The Color Purple
3) Sophie's Choice
4) One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
5) Agnes of God
6) Pulp Fiction
7) Jesus Christ Superstar
8) Billy Jack (1 & 2; this will tell my age)
9) The Godfather (1 & 2)
10) Ordinary People

I'm sure I'll think of a movie I missed right after I post!

Re: Your Favourite Films!

off the top of my head...

1. Dogma. I love me some Matt Damon

2. Great Expectations. The book by the same name is my favorite, and while the movie follows it roughly, I enjoy every minute.

3. Zoolander....I could BE Derek Zoolander.

4. Wedding Crashers. I love to laugh, and this movie never gets old. It also reminds me so much of my best friend and I. Her being Vince V, me being Owen W. The 'personalities' the characters have in the movie is similar to the chemistry we have day to day.

5. Somethings Gotta Give - The one Love story type movie my husband will watch with me.

6. Fried Green Tomatoes. Just a good movie that I like.

7. SLC PUNK! This movie is just...I can't describe it, but I quote it from time to time. A great comedy.

8. The other sister- It's cute, I forget about it until I remember it, and have to watch it.

9. Breach. This movie wasn't so big, but I really enjoyed it.

10. The interpreter. Another movie, not so big, but worth watching.
