3 scenarios of when or how long the UK lockdown will last:
1. On April 20th, the British parliament said it can last 90 more days to prevent a second peak of infections in the northern hemisphere winter (Nov and Dec). Will the British public remained indoors until July 20th? They were since Mar 23 and Easter weekend, they were told to just stay home the entire 3-day period. The UK is expected to have the highest Covid-19 death toll in Europe (40k?) to surpass Italy's and Spain's, so far France was over 20k (they count all fatalities even outside hospitals) and Germany had about 5k (for some reason, IDK).
2. On March 31st, it was theorized it will last up to 6 months around Sep 30. Again, to ensure the Covid-19 disappears from the British isles in the summer. The Coronavirus Act of 2020 lasts a year (Apr 1, 2021) but could be revised based on medical advice to end in Apr 1, 2022, then again it can be repealed earlier, whether or not lockdowns are effective to break all viral transmission. Boris Johnson believes a million British people were exposed and being young or healthy enough to be asymptomatic, they might developed "herd immunity".
And 3. Now, UK PM Boris Johnson and Prince Charles who recovered from Covid-19, believes the end of May is when people can venture outside, but continue with social distancing measures and preference of wearing face coverings in the summer, and a possible vaccine invented as early as Oct. according to the University of Oxford, perhaps by an emergency approval by British health authorities. Normally, vaccines take 12-18 months to develop, but countries have various laws and protocols of approval after clinical testing is successful.
