Julias Caesar inventing the sign of Libra

Well technically Caesar didn't invent it himself but it was created in his honour. After his assassination the Romans decided to section off a bit of Scorpio and create Libra in honour of Caesar.

Am I missing something or is there much deeper history re: Libra?

I'm no expert - simply a student

some info on LIBRA
Libra was known in Babylonian astronomy as MUL ZIBANU
AKA the "...scales..." or "...balance..."
or alternatively as the Claws of the Scorpion.
The scales were held sacred to the sun god SHAMASH
who was also the patron of truth and justice.

ANCIENT EGYPTIANS also saw a pair of scales in LIBRA
and associated it to the scales of ANUBIS
the jackal-headed god of the dead.
ANUBIS was the one leading the souls of the dead to the underworld
but he judged the souls by what they had done in life

LIBRA was also seen as the Scorpion's Claws in ancient Greece.
LIBRA represents a balance scale - linked perhaps to
the SUN passing across the face of the constellation
at the time of the autumnal equinox in September
when day and night are of roughly equal length
so the heavens are "...balanced...."
The constellation's name means “...the weighing scales...” in Latin.
Libra is usually depicted as the scales held by
the Greek goddess of justice Dike aka Astraea
represented by the neighbouring Virgo constellation
DIKE was in charge of measuring the weight of human souls
after they passed away. Her job was to punish souls mired in vice
and
reward souls that were honest and just.

The link of LIBRA with ASTRAEA is related to
the role of Astraea after she gave up on the human race
and
decided to leave the humans to their corrupted nature.

LIBRA is also why the symbol for the British pound is £
i.e.
an L with a line through it.
AND

The symbol for the British currency called the pound ‘...£...’
with a horizontal line
and
the pound, weight, is also known as the ‘...LIRA sign...’

The pound currency unit was so named because it was originally
the value of 1 pound Tower Weight of fine silver.
Both symbols derive from LIBRUM
the basic Roman unit of weight
which in turn derived from the Latin word pendere
for scales or balance.

The Italian lira also used that symbol
but with two lines through it
the word “...LIRA...” itself is a shortened version of LIBRA.
