Loss/ Regret Inquiry

Hi hi,

I don't have a chart, but I have a question around the concept of loss/ regret in a horary chart. How do you determine is there is regret without simply asking, "Does she/he regret XYZ?". I've asked a couple of people about it also, but honestly it keeps coming back to my mind so I thought I would post about it to get clarification. Also, someone today asked a chart specifically about regret and again it sprung to my mind!

I've read a bunch of different things online, but this is mainly what I'm seeing:

1. The person the question is being asked about sitting in the 12th house, of regret?
2. Ruler of the 8th house, for the person being asked about, making an aspect to the person who asked the question or the person who is being asked about.
3. It is also possible to look at the 12th house ruler? Anything else that someone can look into?

I only have one horary chart that I did to reference, which is one I casted for my friend, but I'm just looking mostly for ideas/ thoughts.

Thanks,
WJ

Chart updated!

Attaching this chart just as reference, I don't think the chart is valid since she's likely asked herself this question multiple times.

But just looking at this one for example:

Question: Does L7 have any regrets towards how he treated/decision made for L1? (L1 asked the question)

so,

L1 is moon but it's also the regret itself (currently domicile)
L7 is sun and saturn (not jupiter which i wrote originally) (sun- domicile and triplicity & saturn- domicile)

- L1 and L7 have an sep sextile, so some positivity existed between the two in the past

- L7's 12th house of loss and regret is Jupiter, which is sitting in his house, but weak-- so maybe L7 is feeling some regret over this situation, but it's not overwhelming.
- L7 ruler of the 8th house is sun, which is also his co-sig, and that was aspecting the moon, so maybe there was regret before and now L7 is moving away from that?
- L7 (sun) and Uranus aspect are in the past, so I'm thinking of that being the other woman, or the decision to leave her for another woman- and they are sep, so that reinforces that they aren't together anymore.
- Merc rules L7's 10th house and 6th house, so not sure how to incorporate that
- L7'S 12th house ruler is making an applying conjunction to L7.

I don't know how to pull this analysis together to make a story, it seems all contradictory.

How the individual phrases the question is a big part of getting the right answer. Paying attention to the last aspect of the Moon is pretty hefty also. Do you have a question for someone in mind. The terms speak a lot about exchanges of emotions additionally.

Thanks for your help, SOA- I had my friend cast the chart, the question was just 'does he regret his decision/ the way he acted?'

Re: Loss/ Regret Inquiry

Is the chart above the one with the question, "Does he regret his actions towards .....?"

Re: Loss/ Regret Inquiry

I looked up "regret" in Rex E. Bills, The Rulership Book. He gives it to Saturn. Which makes sense. Traditionally Saturn stood for most of the mean and rotten things that people experience, like shame.

But I think one has to look at the particulars. Does the person regret..... what exactly? The particulars are probably ruled by different signs and houses.

You might also look at the significator's essential and accidental dignities. A robust planet (domiciled, exalted, in-sect, in its own triplicity, angular, and so on) is probably feeling just fine. A seriously debilitated planet in detriment or fall;in the 8th, 12th or 6th house; and so on is probably not feeling too great.

Thanks waybread, for your help. In this case, if Saturn is regret, it's domicile and triplicity, in this chart also, its the co-ruler-- that's counter intuitive to me.

The question was around regret in how things ended in the relationship, so it's 7th house. What's interesting it's that their both domicile but L1 is sitting in the 12th house, so likely feeling worse- [in theory]. I'm thinking I'm having trouble with the chart because it's not valid.

What I was originally trying to do was to assess regret in this original chart [ because I know this one is valid, and I had a friend cast it] but originally, it wasn't making sense to me.

But if I use Saturn (which you reference above) to represent regret in this chart, it's making an aspect to sun, moon and uranus (which ElenaJ mentioned is the planet of break-ups). So it's making more sense to me now. So maybe L1 and L7 both have regrets. L7 is also sitting in the 6th house also, so not feeling great just based on that.

Re: Loss/ Regret Inquiry

There may be other possibilities besides regret: yes or no.

Maybe slight regret but feeling that overall, it was for the best.

I imagine Saturn disposits in this chart, as a domiciled planet? (Traditional ruler of Aquarius.)

I appreciate your note. I'm thinking the same thing as well. Slight regret, but pushing forward anyway. What's interesting is that L7 is sitting in the 12th house as well. Originally some analysis on the chart said that L7 was hiding out, which is still true, but L7's in a cadent house either way, so I'm assuming not feeling great about the situation and this shed's light on it.
