Kunga,
I had two Jyotish charts read from Indian guys in India in 1988.
In Western Astrology, I have lots of 12th house placements, plus Neptune setting.
Because Jyotish takes (or adds?) 23 degrees off everything, I end up with a whole load of very inappropriate 1st house placements that just don't work for me.
Add to that, they don't consider the three outer planets at all, and I'm losing interest by the minute...
In deeply cultural India, they have a very strict 'Cast System', as you know doubt are aware.
In some ways their Free Will goes out the window as a consequence, because most have a limited access to change their 'station in life', and their '72 odd' systems of Vedic Astrology were devised a long time ago when they were deeply intrenched in their ancient culture.
I studied Jyotish for a while (15 years ago), and I read books that said point blank, that for eg, with a given planetary placement, "the native
will lose the 3rd toe on the right foot", .
We in the West are somewhat less bound by their traditions, so although I like the romance in it, and see value in the Dasas' etc (?, been a while)
I can't put too much emphasis on it's relative application in the West.
Just my opinion though. Different folks, different strokes, as they say.
I don't mean to be negative. It's probably evolved, as we all have...
If it works for you, it works for you!
