Smile Chinese Traditional Astrology-Zi wei dou shu

CHINESE ASTROLOGY
ZI WEI DOU SHU
Zi WEi Dou Shu is a branch of Chinese Astrology. It utilizes the Chinese Lunar Calendar. A Zi Wei Dou Shu chart is divided into 12 palaces representing the 12 chinese earthly animals. Each palace corresponds to a particular aspect or part of our life. Each of these palaces are governed by major and minor stars. These stars have their own characteristics that affect the palace they are in.There are about 115 stars which govern the characteristics of the various palaces. The stars are not the actual celestial bodies in the Universe. They are merely mathematical symbols bearing different properties.

You could get your birch chart together with your 10 year and 1 year luck chart of Zi wei dou shu freely on line in below link:

A palace is affected or is most influenced by the adjacent palaces, the opposite palace and the related harmony palaces.

Looking at the chart above, we can say that the Life Palace is influenced by:

# the opposite palace (Travel Palace)
# the related harmony palace (Career and Wealth Palaces)

Do you not agree that the life of a person is shaped by the person's parents and siblings? The way you are brought up by your parents will determine how you become in society.

Re: Chinese Traditional Astrology-Zi wei dou shu

I think both the Chinese astrology and the western astrology is talking about the same thing---How the stars above the sky influenced the people under them. It is very interesting to find they share many things in common with different characteristic.

After all, they see the same thing from different point of view and place. The philosophy of Chinese astrology is different from western astrology due to the cultural differences.

Chinese is really difficult to learn if you don't have the environment. If you do like it, you could also learn well.

The Ming Gong is the person’s Destiny palace. It has to do with “pre-heaven”, your destiny and what has already been decided for you. The Ming is similar to the Sun Sign or 1st House. Look for the lifetime Ming palace, and then at the palace’s bottom right-hand corner, bottom word.

Hello Candice! Thank you again for all the great information you gave us. I have not been in the forum for about one week, hence my late reply to you. I never knew that there was so much to learn about Chinese astrology, incredible. I doubt if I will ever learn it all, but it is interesting to know about all the different details.
Back to work now!

Cheers, Starlink

Hahahaha

I have studied Zi wei dou shu as a hobby for may be 12 years now . But seeing that in English gives me headache . But I like both Astrology and Zi wei dou shu can predict different things. At the beginning Zi wei dou shu somehow more easy to use also accurate but difficult to master!! Astrology is you REALLY REALLY need to master to be accurate!!!

Re: Chinese Traditional Astrology-Zi wei dou shu

I tried your link to create my own zi wei dou shu in English version. The English version is not completed. Some stars are not listed.

And the website used numbers to classify each star has lost the true meaning of zi wei dou shu. The best way to learn zi wei dou shu...unfortunately I have to say is in Chinese. There are a lot of principles based on the Chinese word itself. Replacing it into numbers, in my opinion had destroyed the true value of zi wei dou shu.

For example, 紫微斗數= zi wei dou shu the name itself has more meanings than the sound itself zi wei dou shu are only the sounds of the words. 紫微斗數 each of this word has it own deeper meaning....

To master 紫微斗數 you must first master 四化星 which this English version has failed to provide you this information.

I see Ju Men=巨門. This star is a dark star needs to have a warm bright sun or 祿權 in the chart in order to show it positive sides.

I use this link to create chart. Although is all in Chinese but you can use Google translator to try. Just copy and paste the word and translate. You have a feel of zi wei dou shu in Chinese

I understand that ZWDS is best understood to have a grasp of the Chinese language but for those who have no Chinese base and expecting us to pick up Chinese (which is quite a difficult lang to master for spoken and written) will make it unappetising to learn. ZWDS is a good an accurate astrology to learn if someone just have the patience and skill to translate and generously provide the meaning of different stars being in the various houses with actual examples, this form of astrology will have a much wider market and everyone irregardless of race and religion and creed can learn and master it.

I want to translate ZWDS for everyone if I could. But I simply can't find the words in English to translate it completed Chinese meaning......Even if I could translate it meaning, you will still need to learn the word in Chinese yourself. For example, my user name in Chinese:

"Po" "寶" is meaning treasure in most simple form if translated in English as a keyword; however there are many more meanings in the word itself.

Looks at the top part of the word is like a little hat which actually represents "Roof of a house".

The middle left is "Jade". On the middle right is "China" which is what richer people use at home.

Then the bottom part of the word meaning "Sea Shell", in ancient time Chinese people use shells as a form of "Money". And inside the sea shell we can find "Pearl".

Therefore, treasure in material sense is when we have something such as Jade, China and Money storing at home and having a home is a treasure itself.

Which also means treasure is something that has it own values which we should protect "under the roof of the house". But on the other hand, in non-material sense, "treasure" is some thing we want to hold on tight that is why it is under the "roof", under my own protection.

If you want to go deeper, the word itself means without the foundation of money, you can't have any Jade or China or Roof.

Seriously....it is a HUGE job to translate. And most of the BEST literature of ZWDS are written in ancient Chinese in poetry form even regular Chinese cannot understand it without good knowledge of ancient Chinese in term of grammar and use of word. I think that is the main reason why ZWDS is not as widely used. Because the language itself plus the history and hidden meaning behind each word.....

For me, I have studies some "high school level" of Chinese literature, have a bit of basic knowledge. But to fully understand the meaning of those literature will need to do a lot of background research of the history otherwise, you will misunderstand the meaning.

Haha, charming is a nice word to describe the Zi Wei Dou Shu, and the explanations seem to encompass either the highest or the lowest form of a star's exression: it is like everything was taken from poetry and transformed into a basic readable material, and yet, i tried various sites and horo.idv.tw gave me a more complete feeling because it also provides a great deal of explanations.

Poyi, the story/explanation behind your name is fascinating If you don't mind my question, what do you think of this site? http://www.horo.idv.tw Is it more reliable in terms of Zi Wei Dou Shu? The languages available (old chinese, simplified chinese) and english would suggest a more traditional and loyal approach to the essence of the words originally written in Chinese.

I used this site before. I do like the site and ok quality with free materials you can read and use. It does give you free chart and generic analysis, however the accuracy of the analysis is below average. Very generic, but not a bad start for beginner if you do understanding Chinese. I still sincerely encourage those to learn ZWDS from it natural form as poetry and traditional Chinese.

Good day poyi. A newbie here in zwds, can you please recommend some books which you think might be easier to lean zwds. There are sites that offer free chart but the analysis is a little bit complicated especially if involving more than two stars in a court or palace. Are there any books or sites with stars combi explanations?ithanks.

Re: Chinese Traditional Astrology-Zi wei dou shu

There is no single English version book that I am aware of as good as the original Traditional Chinese classic text. If you can read Chinese then you may be able to learn from this site.

Re: Chinese Traditional Astrology-Zi wei dou shu

I agree Po yi Chinese astrology is best understood by being Chinese! Much is lost in translation because there is a tremendous difference between the western and Chinese cultures.

However, for those of us who aren't Chinese and don't read Mandarin or the other forms of the Chinese language we have to make do as best we can.

I learned my basic Chinese astrology through Derek Walters books "Chinese Astrology" and "The complete guide to Chinese Astrology" He says the second book is the most complete guide to Chinese astrology ever published in the English language. It has been checked by reputable Chinese astrologers.

In addition, Esoteric Technologies (the creators of Solar Fire) offer an excellent program on Chinese Astrology called "Imperial Astrologer" this calculates Four Pillars, Tzu Wei Chart, Life time fate cycles, Life time fate map and event fate cycles. It gives reports on each of these systems. The Help section is a full book written by the author of the program, Malvin Artley.

The program contains the ability to adjust the charts to Southern Hemisphere orientation as well as male or female orientation etc.,

I find Chinese astrology very accurate indeed. What really 'sold' me on it was the event cycle in the Tzu Wei chart as it is so accurate. I remember sitting there in absolute astonishment as I read that I would have to sell my family home even though I didn't want to - and the year this would happen.
