A wise man by the name of Morgan freeman said, the only way to get rid of racism is to stop talking about. Its not systematic. Its not a privilege, its about work ethic.

I can tell that you've never even been to the Deep South!
You don't think there's racism against jews, asians, native people? But for the most part, people are tolerant and accepting, all over the world. You know who doesn't accept other faiths and other ethnic groups? They throw gay people off roofs of buildings. But all you can criticize is the U.S. Maybe you want to move to Ethiopia along with aquarius7000? :andy:

I live here, in the U.S.

I've met racists from the Deep South, and i have black friends from there.
Very scary!

Morgan Freeman made it, so, so what about everyone else? Same with Kanye West.

It's like, "Stop whining. I've got mine, who cares about you?"

Agreed. In fact, the time I spent in Virginia and then some months in Tennessee, I heard stuff that really made me cringe.

Similarly, my stay in erstwhile British colonies made me at times shudder at the thought of belonging to the same species as some of those 'masters'. I actually met a family, in which one of the grandparents was used as a foot rest by a British imperialist. He was made to lie on the ground at the age of 6 or 7, whilst the British bloke would rest his feet on him- with his shoes on. Back in England, I was haunted by those narrations.

So when I hear people so ignorantly and pathetically calling that mere History - not realising how traumatised some living today are that actually lived through that history - it makes me so mad. And then to turn around and shamelessly ask if one would rather live in Europe or in Ethiopia. This world is a sad place. Like I said, the actually sad part is that all this is not even History. It is still all very much prevalent, but times have changed, so you cannot perhaps use 6 year old coloured children as foot rest openly, so things are done in a more indirect and tortuous manner

And I can tell that you are a perfect example of one of those, who was taught in school that their country/ the West is the greatest and the holiest. Your superiority complex is so apparent, as is also how condescending most of the stuff you say is, not to mention, in your own words and give you a dose of your own medicine, how much you "hate" the non-West. Have you ever even stepped out into the big, wide world? Certainly you need to "move" about and perhaps a trip to "Ethiopia" would be highly educational for you, and lord knows you can use it so much. Then again, some might think of it as a 'sh!thole' country, especially since no Norwegians are there. :D
If you can't digest facts, don't label others as hating the West , rather pick up a good history book by an Ethiopian or a Namibian, etc and read about what they faced at the hands of Italy, the Dutch and British colonists.

Lovin' that "big, beautiful, solid, wall made of concrete all along the border" that Mexico was more than happy to pay for? Uh:whistling:

You should like it too.

"We thought the border wall was a bad, racist idea," said Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. "But then this light bulb turned on over my head. It was actually just a light bulb though, not an actual idea, which was disappointing. But that got me thinking about trying to have an idea. And I got an idea: when we switch to socialism, everyone's gonna try to run away. But what if there's a big, solid object along the border? Then they can't run away. I mean, they could try to climb, but we could shoot them."

I considered that: A wall used to keep others out could also be used to lock us in--very Saturnian!

Re: Aunt on Facebook

Anybody in this world reducing BLM movement to Marxist or Terrorism is rather out of touch with History, which sadly is not even History really, and also with reality. They are also completely oblivious with what the word humanity means.

I have a black manager at my place of work and also work with many coloured people - and every time I hear their experiences, it brings a tear to my eyes and gives me sleepless nights - in the literal sense of words.

So, all those that feel oh so bad just because they might be verbally called racist, need to actually get a very THOROUGH understanding of what coloured people go through even today and your thought process contributes to it in its own way.

Oh come on. this is not the 50's or 60'[s. I have black relatives and close friends. NONE OF THEM are in support of these riots.

ALL OF THEM have very good lives and live freely in our modern society.

This whole 'micro aggression' thing is ridiculous. EVERYONE can say they see micro aggressive actions against them at some point, at some time. Women,
gays, Asians, white males, 'Karens', MAGA people, Vegans.....EVERYONE

But these marches are a bunch of hokey. Blacks have every opportunity to make a good life for themselves in 2020.

This one police brutality case4 should be dealt with in court and should be seen as an individual case. These other cases that they march about are 90% JUSTIFIED shootings by the cops.

The BLM movement is trying to put it ALL on the officers. My son-in-law is a black police officer. He says that the black community should be looking at THEIR OWN part in this situation. The way they treat officers, cover for the violent ones and criminals in their communities, is what is making these shootouts with the cop0s keep happening.

What I am seeing on this thread is a lot of fear and hysteria.

No, the sky is not falling.

It's important to be a connoisseur of what you read. Someone is whipping up the right-wingers into a fever pitch. And it's not bereaved mothers of murdered Black children.

Marxism in the US is not going to happen, guys. You can relax about it. Breathe. Notably those of you who do not even live in the United States and are not US citizens.

(I'm a US-born citizen and taxpayer who lives in Canada.)

If some Black Lives Matter advocates are Marxists, that's their prerogative under the First Amendment. Just as your prerogative is to be a far-right Libertarian. Marxists do not represent the political views of the millions of Americans of all ethnicities who support Black Lives Matter. (See this recent poll by the respected Pew Memorial Trust.
https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/202...-support-for-the-black-lives-matter-movement/ )

Yes, there are self-proclaimed leaders and organizations. They certainly do not represent the entire movement which is far larger and more diffuse. By analogy, you wouldn't argue that the Pope is the leader of everyone who believes in God.

In an interesting contrast to the right-wing "Red under the Bed" hysteria, my little town in western Canada held a peaceful demonstration in support of Black Lives Matter. Not a Marxist in sight-- or an African American, for that matter, because the border is closed to most traffic. Many similar peaceful demonstrations have been held internationally.

Following the rally in my community, some high school students posted Black Lives Matter slogans in chalk on a retaining wall as my husband and I happened to drive by. They included "Defund the Police." I wondered how our local Mounties would feel about that.

I later read in the local paper that a passerby started haranguing the girls. The RCMP stopped by, chatted with them, and later came by with some Gatoraid and candy for them.

To 99% of sensible Americans, "defund the police" doesn't mean abolishing police departments. Big Duh-uh, there. It means re-directing funds from unsupportive, militaristic policing into social services that best address the needs of the community.

Too often police are simply not the ones with backgrounds in mental illness crises, domestic violence, and drug addiction. Sometimes rogue police officers do not follow their own regulations. Of course, some police departments and individual officers are much better in addressing social issues than others. "Defund the Police" simply means more attention to getting at the roots of crime.

"Defund the police" is an eye-opening slogan designed to get your attention. Don't worry. Your local police department isn't going away. Hopefully your municipality will rethink its emphases, however.

OK, now, feel calmer and better?

Could you muster up and give Trump credit?

Yes, he's bringing all these long suppressed and denied racial issues out into the open by pandering to the White Supremacists. Seems counterintuitive, but it will help to resolve them in the long run, after he's no longer in office.

And, guess what, in 2020, right here in the US, in fact in the Big Apple, I have black friends and colleagues, that were followed by the police for no rhyme or reason, ridiculed at the airport, refused to be served at a restaurant. Oh come on now, let us not kid ourselves, racism is VERY prevalent still, so don't yet pat yourself on your back and scream hurrah. AND CERTAINLY DO NOT MAKE BLANKET STATEMENTS because ALL OF THEM DO NOT HAVE VERY GOOD LIVES. One of my colleagues was telling me just last week how she has had to answer some very uncomfortable questions by her kid, who keeps getting told that she has very weird hair and looks scary. An Asian friend went unattended in Colarado at a gas store, and felt so humiliated that he left without the water he had gone in to buy for his daughter. THAT IS REALITY and whilst your handful of relatives might be doing awesome (so glad for them), some aren't. So give me a break. Honestly...

I did enjoy the laugh.

Ny has a 400% upsurge of police putting in for retirement. I don't blame them one bit.

With a 212% increase in crime
With the mass influx of guns purchased by the blm movement.

Acting like uncivilized being. The media is not showing what is truly going on.

Cute how the Canadian police were able to appease young ones with gadorade and candy. Thats not happening here. The amount of disrespect these officers receive here is insane. There are far more good cops then bads ones. All the nonsense is happening in cities and states with democrat leaders who have an agenda. Not acting like adults.
Glad everything is rainbows and sunshine to northern neighbors.

Where do you get this white supremacist nonsense? Please do tell.
