Best Careers based on chart

Hello AW,

With the current Saturn transit making its way through Sagittarius I am making serious evaluations on where I want to be in my life. I am currently doing a teaching degree specialising in Business but I have no intention of making this a permanent career choice.

I have some other options in mind but it would result in me having to start from scratch in a new field, which I don't have a problem with. At this point the practicalities don't matter because any major change is unlikely occur in this part of life until 2017 when the degree is finished. Right now I am in the brainstorming phase and I would appreciate if a different pair (or pairs!) of eyes could look at my chart to see what careers would best be suited for me.

Thank you everyone for your time and consideration.

Hi !

I input your details to get a vedic chart. The north node Rahu Ketu Axis ( Aries to Libra 5th to 11th house) points to a lifetime which will lead you to enjoy and understand the importance of partnerships.11th house being global network, you may be a point of contact in your community for some global network. From being a person focused on leading through conviction and confidence on ones own opinions , one may learn to evaluate other peoples viewpoint and arrive at a consensus for the common good. Your method of communication can be very indirect and impersonal( Moon in Aqua Dhanishta and Saturn in Aqua P.Bhadra in the 3rd house). These natives can mean and wish something very good for everyone but the communication may make them seem arrogant. You have 3 main planets in Scorp in the 12th( hidden house) ..Jyestha being the protector. You make for a very good astrologer ( which you are !).Asc Sagittarius Mula ( meaning roots) makes you want to dig deeper and deeper till you arrive at the truth. This is reinforced by Mercury and Sun un Scorpio. You will make a great researcher in any subject. D9 points to partnerships being the way of growth. Business is another option. You will do great in careers involving danger, rescue etc as chart points out to great leadership abilities and the unique ability to remain calm under stress. The current Dasha as per vedic chart is Jupiter which is in Scorpio in the 12th.The planets in Scorp may give you a strange ability to accept the cycle of life .births and deaths with equanimity.
Please see if this rings true.
All the best. God bless !

One thing that jumps out at me about your chart is a recurring theme of conjunctions involving opposing forces.

Venus/Mars, Jupiter/Asc, Sun/Pluto, Saturn,/Part of Fortune: they are like a meme of energy which tries to bring together 2 things which are opposite type energies.

So there seems to be a talent for Crisis Management, Public Relations, Arbitration, Diplomacy, Trauma Counseling, and perhaps Law or Criminal Justice.

This 'concentrated opposition' is well illustrated by the Mars/Venus in the 1st. Mars in late Sag, conjunct the Asc, tightly conjunct Venus, ruler of the MC, in Capricorn. And it is very visible in the first house.

How can you put forth a persona, a first impression, and successfully coordinate the fiery independence of Mars conjunct the Saggitarian Asc and the calm controlled demeanor of an Earthy Venus in Capricorn? The sextile to your Aquarian Moon in the 3rd tells me you probably do so very well.

The 3rd house Aqua Moon looks at the big picture, at the global level, if not bigger, and finds a way to understand how it fits together, how it makes sense.
Electronics, social media, computer networking may fit in here too with the Aquarian 3rd house connection.

Sun in the 12th in Sag conjunct Pluto in the 11th, brings another opportunity to try and bring together two very different energies. The Sun represents that which is visible, rational, 'healthy' and vibrant. Pluto is that which is hidden, secret, mysterious and irrational. Somehow you must try and coordinate those two energies in a way that makes sense and allows you to grow and thrive.

Saturn conjunct the Part of Fortune in the 3rd says to me that teaching Business might be a very good way to start your career path. Other things will grow from that, as the Uranus /Neptune conjunction sextiles from the 2nd, bringing further money making opportunities from age 23 to 27? [maybe involving astrology?]

Edited to add:

You have no oppositions because this is a bundle chart. So having 'opposite' energies in tight conjunction is another way of experiencing 'oppositions' in your chart.

what stands out for the is your lower/eastern planets, TN 10th/MC Libra.

And south node in Aries/4th.

I think you need a career in people oriented roles, but then due to your introverted nature, it should in inner psychology.

possibly counselling, psychology.

You are a strong 12th house person, and that Pluto-sun and first house Mars-Venus probably give you a lot of personal power-- which you may try to inhibit for fear it will frighten people away. I see you as a basically private person who would prefer to work behind the scenes.

I don't mean this in any disrespectful way, but are you drawn to the "dark side" of life? This might be something as simple as reading crime novels or certain types of video games, but it might also be something you could use in a career. Obviously teaching business appealed to you more than multiple other options, so this might suggest something like teaching in a prison system, as the 12th house rules prisons. The 12th also rules hospitals, hospices, and other places where people seem misfortunate or shut-in. This needn't mean hands-on patient care, but could be a field like institutional health care administration or marketing. (On a brighter note, monasteries and retreats.)

The 12th house deals with secrets, and given your forum nickname, I wonder if you'd enjoy ferreting out secrets professionally through intelligence work or something like being an insurance fraud investigator.

Normally I'd think of Venus in the first as ideal for someone in sales, but it is intercepted in Capricorn.

Anyway, we've given you lots to choose from. I don't think your chart screams out one and only one suitable option.

Thank you RaRohini,

This vedic perspective definitely has made some stuff click in my mind, especially regarding some personality tendencies. I checked out more info on the Mula Nakshatra and it makes sense why I have a strong attraction to tradition and building foundations. I have a desire to elevate my family to a higher socio-economic standing and ideally start to build a family "empire". Fortunately, my dad and my brother have the same goals so we are often on the same page. I have an interest in legacy and admire families that become and remain established and influential in their local and international circles.

Parsing out the relevant tidbits -- I could incorporate leadership skills, calmness under pressure, research skills, global reach/influence, equanimity/acceptance of death with elements of danger and rescue... that sounds glamorous as hell lol.

This has given me much to ponder about and I can see where these qualities are relevant to the careers/professions I am considering. Thank you so much for your reply. :)

Astro question -- I'm aware that dashas are a timing technique in astrology but what exactly are they and how are they calculated? And if possible, a brief description of what the Jupiter Dasha means in regards to my situation, thanks.

Thank you Katydid for such a rich reply.

Based on your post, you see my chart as a reconciliation of opposing energies and this dynamic seems to be the root of the careers you suggested. Resolving situations and bringing a stabilizing effect to my environment which RaRohini touched on as well.

You are both correct in that summation. I do seem to have the ability to resolve tensions and steer people from doing things that aren't in there best interest. A recent example was when my cousins were having an altercation with the one of them drawing for a knife and another for a machete. I jumped in and told them both to cut that **** out (no pun I swear) then I explained to them how stupid it was to kill each other over something small. They chilled when they realized that juvenile detention and/or the grave was a pretty crumby future to look forward to. Same situation at the school I'm doing my practicum, breaking up fights left, right and centre. It's not a nice school , you see.

It's pretty sychronistic that you used the word meme as I have flirted with the possibility of working in some kind of propoganda/psychological manipulation. I have an interest in the ideas that spread among society and the qualities that the successful ideas have. Mass psychology and basically shaping the world with a hidden hand. It's one of the reasons why I would work in a think tank. I think this has a lot do with the Sun-Mercury- Pluto in the 12th + Jupiter's strength.

Both you and RR mentioned astrology (thanks for the endorsements) and I doubt I'll ever stop doing astrology. Every profession mentioned so far would benefit greatly from my practicing astrology. Thanks a ton for your post.

Question though -- Why is Jupiter/Asc regarded as opposing energies?

While squarely an introvert, I want to have an impact on the world at large, leaving my mark so to speak. Psychology interests me definitely and I definitely would take some time to study and work with those who are less neurotypical. I'm curious about schizophrenics and the link that their psychology has to spiritual experiences as well as general studies of the mind. I find it all so fascinating and intriguing. I'm less stoked on the counselling aspect but I can't deny that I have helped people by giving them advice on how to approach certain things that they are faced with.

Thanks Waybread for taking a look,

Yes, you could say that I have an attraction to the dark side, I'm curious and drawn to investigate "repulsive" things -- gore, unsavoury fetishes, and "uncomfortable thruths" etc etc. It's one of the reasons why I wouldn't mind being a mortician or some such profession that puts me in contact with dead bodies, I think I could turn a decent profit from a field that many people don't have the stomach for.

You nailed it when you spoke about working in intelligence as I've always thought about working for governments/private sectors to undertake "top secret research". I read up on various people who went into the military to eventually end up in some of these classified projects and I've been considering to take that route (although I wouldn't mind being in combat: strong Mars)

I actually chose teaching as apart of my skills acquisition. Aside from teaching I also enrolled in a mechanic programme which had to be discontinued due to insufficient funds. I see where your coming from with the 12th house places and I'd be interested in working in mental institutions or studying mental health patients. Experimenting and testing although it sounds a little inhuman. Nevertheless, its an option I'm considering. (It also goes well with the detrimented Mercury ruling the 10th sign and hidden under the sun).

Your right in that my chart doesn't scream out one option but 3 different people picked up on very similar themes in the chart which has been very instructive for me.

Question though -- Why is Jupiter/Asc regarded as opposing energies?
================================================

It may be a bit of a stretch to classify them as 'opposing' energies. And if there had not been a visible pattern of the other conjunctions I would not have seen it as such.

But the ASC is the urge towards 'individualization.' The individual's identity, unique appearance, face, recognition as a specific individual in the environment.

Jupiter represents 'officials, civil servants, high social standing' and the joining of social spheres and higher strata.

So Jupiter conjunct the Asc puts some pressure on the individual ego to become a part of the larger social strata, most likely.

I have Jupiter in the 12th, 3 degrees from my Taurus Ascendant. I feel this in my chart although it is very different that Sag rising would be. [ But I do have Venus in Sag so there is a mutual reception there.]

Ahh, I get you now. That does sound about right in that I want to be able to influence many people + elevate my family's status.

To be realistic,
it's not uncommon to "want to be able to influence many people"
for example
consider the numerous ambitious teens and pre-teens dreaming of
being influential people
and being ambitious to be a celebrity of some kind or another
in the worlds of sport, music, business, computers and so on
and very few DELIBERATELY want to lower the status of their family

Of course, but the internet is a filter where you are most likely to see the ones who promote themselves/speak up e.g this site has a ratio of 10:1 of lurkers to members. In the world around me , a lot of people my age and younger don't express the desire for influence at the global scale.

And while many don't want to deliberately lower their status its not a very common desire to elevate your family to "dynasty" status which is what I am implying.

"Promoting oneself" is distinct from "speaking up"
Many on this site do literally promote themselves via links to their blogs or websites or both
and promote their work as paid astrologers

That's very different from posting an opinion

Otherwise you are claiming that anyone who posts on any internet forum
does so solely for the purposes of "self-promotion"

In the world around me ,
a lot of people my age and younger don't express the desire for influence at the global scale.
Those people you mention may nevertheless have the desire for influence at the global scale
but may not say so openly to their peers.
Or perhaps they talk to others and not to you
And while many don't want to deliberately lower their status
Very few
deliberately plan
to lower their own or their familys statues

its not a very common desire to elevate your family to "dynasty" status which is what I am implying.
That implication has no substance
because
keep in mind that even if people may not speak to you of their desire to elevate their family to "dynasty" status
many of your peers may have that desire

Not playing the semantics game today, Jupiter.
Semantics is not a game
The remarks I posted are statements of fact
and nothing to do with semantics
but I quite understand that you have no answer

The fact is that many have the same/similar aspects astrologically that you
yet do not necessarily have similar ambitions
and I find that interesting

Wow! It's so much better, CT, when people say something about their background. A blind chart reading is hard to do, and I had no idea about your tough school.

Given what you've said, a career in military intelligence would seem to pull several themes together for you. You've got that interesting mix of far-seeing, horizon-expanding Sagittarius in the 12th house (of people who are mobility-restricted) and that sun-Pluto need to live life pretty close to the bone. You might do some of this work for a civilian government agency or for a private company involved in computer security systems (anti-hacking,) but that first house Mars should count for something.

If you want to work with family members in building a company, something dealing with security systems might appeal to you.
