Jeez. Look at this,

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/david-brock-donald-trump-donor-network-231588

*Le sigh*

From the article,

The democratic party is full of dumbasses who haven't learned a SINGLE thing from this election. That one thing? People are sick and tired of the corporatism and billionaire butt licking from the so called "for the people" party the democrats are supposed to represent. This is why Donald J Trump beat out Hillary Clinton and this is why democratic voters have lost faith in their own party.

If the democrats were really worried about why they lost....let me tell you a little, apparently, well kept secret....THEY ARE OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE PEOPLE THEY CLAIM TO SERVE! How in the world is going to a retreat with some Billionaires going to help anyone realize why they lost?

Good move, Democrats. (Sarcasm)

What I don't get is, if people are tired of billionaire corporatists having so much influence, why did they ELECT one? Out of the frying pan into the fire!

I know, David. It drives me up a wall just thinking about it, but here is the simplified reason: Both candidates are corporate in one way or another, but only one claimed to be against corporatism. Only one held the slogan "Make America great again" (Inclusive, for all Americans) vs "I'm with her" (selfish, for her). One appeals to the people, trying to sympathize with the common man, while the other is blatantly selfish.

I said it before, "Trump is the wrong **** you to the establishment", only time will tell though.

This election was a lose-lose for America, and we lost. Lets just hope that the President elect proves naysayers wrong. Like that shocking article I posted above.

Just to lighten it up, Why is Trump going to outlaw the sale of packaged, shredded cheese, carrots, potatoes, and cabbage? Because he's going to make America Grate Again! :pinched:

Sup m8. This page shows the policies he plans to put in place: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/policies.

Bypass all the noise and see for yourself what he has to offer. Apparently many of his most ardent supporters are planning to hold him accountable for his promises (the guys on infinity for e.g.)

He's a hard-core fossil fuels guy all the way. Talks about opening all areas to drilling and shale processing and "clean coal" energy! There goes the environment--which he also claims he'll protect. Lowers taxes, spends more--buget-buster like Reagan, Bush Jr., and Obama. Not looking good. Bunch of recycled sloganeering with no substance. Hold him accountable? What's that even mean in a real sense? Hey, I voted, so I get to complain! :annoyed:

Sup brother, long time no chat.

I've read a lot of his policies before and even now I still have doubts about a few. Like him being against TPP. Why would a businessman like Donald J Trump who sends his jobs to other countries, dislike them?

There are others but only time will tell with him. He's more of a wildcard than Miss-Sleeps-with-wall-street-Clinton.

Simply stated, they'll keep there eyes peeled if he goes back on his word, and shunt him into the overflowing box of corrupt politician. A lot of people voted for him out of a sincere desire for change and won't tolerate another round of "same ****, different day".

Perhaps he really does want to bring back jobs to the American economy. He's already spoke with Ford about bringing back Production to the US, which Ford agreed to, and even apple products might be going back to US shores. Good indications that he might just be genuine but we'll see

Yeah, he's at least shown that he's willing to go against the grain as opposed to Hillary who would have been virtually the same to Obama.

So, suffer through 4 years of his administration and then hope for someone better to repair the damage. His REALLY ardent supporters will just shut their eyes and refuse to blame him for anything that goes wrong. But, hey--I'm a 12th Houser. I bet he's got a magic wand tucked away in his tower, and is preparing a magic spell that will solve all of our problems! No worries! :whistling:
He'll either be the hero or the goat. Time will tell. His interns won't, though! Judging from what he said about John McCain, his #1 rule is, "don't get caught".

Oh boy. The Republicans (yay) want to destroy one of the greatest populist achievements from the Obama administration.

The consumer financial protection bureau.

From the article,

Senate Republicans are gearing up for an assault on one of the trademark populist achievements of the Obama administration, vowing to take on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The agency, the brainchild of Elizabeth Warren, back when she was a law professor, was enacted as part of the 2010 Wall Street reform bill. Since then, it has returned nearly $12 billion to 27 million consumers who’d been victims of one predatory scam or another. More than 1 million consumer complaints have been filed with the agency.

This is the kind of agency which makes America GREAT and now the geniuses in the Senate want to do away with it.

Three things: Why the **** would we want to do away with this? It helps the victims of scamming, of which there are many (12 billion dollars to 27 million people). Keeps credit card companies honest, due to having to pay back money they'd have scammed (stolen) from people.

2- More importantly, why would the populist Trump support it? Hopefully, he'll shoot it down and keep the agency alive, same way he promises to keep Medicaid around. If people are really looking to keep him straight then this is his moment to shine.

3- Where the hell are the democrats denouncing this idea? No, seriously, where are they? Are they too busy sipping martinis with Soros to give a rats ***?

Shame on both parties.

I read about that. Good stuff, and I hope he keeps his word and doesn't cave to all the money he's gonna get thrown his way form "special interests".

He's proved everyone wrong already, simply by winning the election, so he can do it again. Giving lobbyist the boot was a first good step.

Doesn't he, himself have factories outside the U.S.? If so, bringing them back here would be a good first step.

He does, mentioned above in my post to CT. Hyperlink is "Who sends his jobs to other countries".

It would be a great first step (one of many) and one to make him look less hypocritical. But President elect actually doing it? ......well.....I'm not too sure he would.

To lighten things a bit as I get pretty passionate about politics (Great idea from Odds btw, never thanked him for it).

Yeah, missed the link. "Do as I say, not as I do", is lame. It's not about how you look, it's about how you really are. But look on the bright side............uh, still trying to find it.....................
...still looking...........come on, it's gotta be around here somewhere!
All right, I admit it--I've got a baaad feeling about his abilities and real intentions. And I really do hope I'm wrong about it.

I hear ya, Dave. It's very nerve wracking for a great many people, and I sympathize with those worries. Share a few of my own as a matter of fact. But, and this is my rare optimistic side talking, lets give the guy a shot. The worst he can do is be so bad that we re-shape the election process and or Presidential powers. The best? Well, he can prove us wrong and turn out semi-decent to pretty-okay, eh?

Last article of the day, I swear.

So, and this is something my Political science buddies an I had a long discussion on about a week before the election.

Imagine a "None of the above" option on the ballot? Well, Democrat Alan Grayson wants to push a bill that will give just that.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/alan-grayson-none-of-the-above-act_us_582dce21e4b099512f812ead

Over beers, my buds an I talked about a "**** this; I'm out" option for the ballots, which would keep the current President in his seat until, say, a new 6 month campaign started. The new campaigns would need brand new candidates for the American people to vote on, giving us fresh options, since the current ones on the ballot smell like dirty money and too much orange juice.

I think this is great idea. Way to go, Mr Grayson. Lets hope it can pass.

Here is another POV about the 'protection' agency:

http://www.politico.com/story/2015/11/payday-loans-consumer-financial-protection-ties-215797

Emails reveal consumer protection agency’s cozy ties
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau worked hand-in-hand with a consumer nonprofit as it drafted payday lending regs.

While Elizabeth Warren and other progressives decry the influence of big banks and lobbyists in writing legislation, in this instance, the agency created by Warren to protect consumers from abusive lending leaned heavily on consumer activists as it drafted regulations for the $46 billion payday loan industry. The Center for Responsible Lending spent hours consulting with senior Obama administration officials, giving input on how to implement the rule that would restrict the vast majority of short-term loans with interest rates often higher than 400 percent. The group regularly sent over policy papers, traded emails and met multiple times with top officials responsible for drafting the rule.

...snipped...

Advance America’s Jamie Fulmer agreed, saying it “put in very stark terms the closeness of the relationships" and the email traffic also "highlights the coordinated research."

“It’s a different relationship and it appears like they aren’t taking the industry’s perspective with the same level of interest as the advocacy groups," Fulmer said. "I imagine some of that is not surprising, but I think it is troubling.”

[ so it appears that this group is playing both sides and there is a possible level of corruption...hence Drain The Swamp may prevail here...]

Of course, they have to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the detriments of the Trump presidency, else it will reflect on their own intelligence.

Yes, yes, at least give the guy a chance. Well, he's got it, and look who he is appointing.

You know what.. I think Trump confused the post of the President of the US with the post of being a CEO in his private sector. He will be extremely surprised how little his power is within the federal government compared to a CEO in the private sector. The rudest shock for him will be that he can neither ignore it, nor change it! He needs Congress entirely for what he desires. We will see quite soon how mature he is to handle it.

Hillary Clinton
may wind up smoothing the way
for Jared Kushner to work in the White House

Donald Trump’s best argument that it’s legal to appoint his son-in-law to a high-level West Wing post

comes from a two-decades-old legal case involving the woman Trump just vanquished in the presidential race

In an obscure passage in that case
stemming from President Bill Clinton's appointment of his wife
to head up health care reform efforts
two federal appeals court judges opined that
a federal anti-nepotism law passed in 1967 did not appear to cover appointments to the White House staff.
Trump's appointment of son-in-law could rest on Clinton precedent
