Donald Trump was greeted with boos and anti-Trump chants by the crowd of mourners when he appeared to pay his "respects" to Justice Ginsburg.

Given her status as a Supreme Court Justice, he couldn't very well have skipped it without even more criticism from all sides.

The fact that he welcomed her death, and is against everything she stood for, made it about as hypocritical and grotesque as it gets.

That far off humming-sound at the farthest reaches of hearing, when they vote to confirm the next Trump-pet for the Court, will be the sound of RBG, spinning in her grave.

A RELIGIOUS SUPREMACIST like Barrett will attempt to impose her own minority version of Catholicism upon the Law of the Land. She can't possibly act in accordance with the Separation of Church and State as mandated by the Constitution she will swear to uphold.

Actually, people said that about JFK. And probably about Justice Scalia. He was quite the conservative, but it was based on different grounds. Barrett clerked for him in the Supreme Court.

She's a dedicated member of a minority Catholic sect, unlike both JFK and Justice Scalia. AND, it's no secret that STRICT anti-abortionists, and in her case, those Catholics who are opposed to ANY type of birth control other than abstinence or the so-called "rhythm method", are COUNTING on her to help overturn Roe v Wade, specifically.

Calm down David, you call President Trump a white supremacist when nothing could be further from the truth & now you are calling Judge Amy Barrett a religious supremacist. There are currently 5 Catholics and 3 Jews on the Supreme Court, appointed by BOTH parties & they follow the Constitution when applying the law & not their own personal religious beliefs.

Isn't crazy Nancy a Catholic & the Cuomo brothers? What about Biden?:crying::innocent::whistling::whistling:

The Supreme Court that may yet rule on the current administration's fractious immigration policies, in other words, is dominated by two religious minorities that came into this country as immigrants in the 19th and early 20th centuries and strained to gain a footing equal to that of the Protestant establishment.

"For a whole lot of Catholic and Jewish immigrants, law school was, in a very pressing way, a ticket to the middle class," said Richard W. Garnett, a law professor at the University of Notre Dame.

In addition, Catholics and Jews both struggled with religious prejudice and may have seen the legal profession as a way to ensure that their rights were protected.

"Unlike evangelicals who base their entire worldview on the teachings of the Bible, Catholics and Jews seem much more open to engaging in larger principles that will affect not only their own community, but the common good of the republic or of a nation beyond the needs of their particular religious tradition," Fea said.

For most of America's history, the court was composed almost entirely of Protestants.

The Democrats may not like President Trump's pick but there's nothing they can do about it as she will be confirmed by the Senate. Maybe in 2024 if they win the election, they can appoint their picks when a Justice retires or dies. In the meantime, I hope the violent, Biden mobs will stop burning, looting & killing & stop acting like deranged lunatics attacking any innocent person on the street.

Trump goes golfing amid Amy Coney Barrett selection furor with the lunatic, left, violent Biden mobs.

The angry & unhinged Dems should go out & get some fresh air too, it might calm them down.

Media, Democrats unhinged over Trump pick & threaten to burn the country down & threaten MORE violence.

Two Judiciary Democrats say they will not meet with Trump's Supreme Court pick

"I refuse to treat this process as legitimate and will not meet with Judge Barrett," say Sentaors. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) in a childish, angry fit of rage.

They don't need their votes anyways so the Dems can scream & shout & threaten all they like, it won't make any difference.

Within minutes of President Donald Trump’s formal nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to sit on the Supreme Court, the GOP majority made clear that it essentially already has the votes to confirm her. In a torrent of laudatory statements, dozens of Republican senators hinted or said outright that they will support Barrett, a favorite of social conservatives, to succeed the late liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

There's also an "upside" for Liberals: This power-play to rush a strict anti-abortionist, anti-birthcontrol advocate onto the Supreme Court prior to the next Election is a vote-loser for the Republicans, especially among the crucial independent voters.

I'm feeling more certain than ever that Trump actually intends to lose the upcoming Election. This particular SCOTUS nomination just prior to the Election will help him to accomplish that.

Actually, it's been common practice for the Party that controls both the Senate and the Presidency to ram through a new Supreme Court Justice whenever a vacancy allows it. However, during this Election cycle, given the extremist religious views of the candidate regarding abortion and birth control, which are way out of line of the prevailing views of most Americans, many Catholics included, it's a dumb move by Republicans seeking re-election.

If you understood how the process works, only the Senate can vote on the Supreme Court Nominee. When M Garland was picked by Obama, guess who had the majority in the Senate? It wasn't the Dems & the Rep Senate decided they would not hold a confirmation hearing until the next election. Which is PERFECTLY LEGAL for unlike the dirty Democrats, Republicans follow the law & believe in the Constitution.
:sideways::andy:

It will be fun to watch the imploding & angry Dems try to trash & dishonour Amy Comey Barrett but they have no legal or moral standing to prevent her for becoming the 9th Justice on the Supreme Court. She is a strict believer in the Constitution like Scalia. She may not be who
the Dems would have picked but they are not the President! In 2024, they might win the general election & then they can appoint who
they like. Maybe then, they will stop burning the American flag & burning down the country because they don't hold the power in the
country. They need to respect the democracy of the country & stop acting like violent, unhinged, unlawful lunatics.

A federal lawsuit was filed to compel McConnell to hold a vote on Garland. It was thrown out because a judge said the plaintiff, as an ordinary voter, had no standing to sue.

For his part, McConnell argued that the Democrats had at least contemplated a similar tactic back in 1992, when Obama's vice president, Joe Biden, was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and mused about urging President George H.W. Bush to withhold any nominees to the high court until the end of the "political season."

At the time, the Senate had just been through a bruising battle over the 1991 confirmation of Justice Clarence Thomas.

As it happened, no vacancy occurred in 1992. But McConnell and others referred to the "Biden rule" nonetheless in justifying the blockade of Garland.

Barrett seems qualified and she'll probably have the votes in the Senate, possibly with Mike Pence having to break the tie. She'll have to answer for herself first in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, where the Democrats will ask hardball questions.

It also seems to be the case that most (not all) of the SCOTUS justices who are appointed as conservatives become more liberal, once on the bench.
