How to read different charts & other questions

So I have a general idea of planets and houses and their meanings and have been primarily using the first chart, which I assume is modern. The second chart I used from a link shared with me on this forum which I believe is a traditional chart and there are certain things I don't recognize or understand. What is a Syzygy and Spirit? Differences in appearance? What are essential dignities?

Thank you!

What is a Syzygy

Syzygy https://www.skyscript.co.uk/gl/syzygy.html

- A traditional term referring to the full Moon or New Moon.
From the Greek suzugia, and the Latin syzygia, meaning 'union'.
Many traditional texts refer to the 'preceeding sysygy'
meaning either the New Moon or Full Moon that most closely preceded the birth.
The planet that had the greatest dignity in this degree
is an important consideration in a number of traditional techniques
such as the Animodar method of rectification.
