There Could Be More Plastic Than Fish in the Ocean by 2050
In three decades, the world's oceans will contain more discarded plastic than fish when measured by weight, researchers say.
The shocking finding was revealed in a newly released Ellen MacArthur Foundation report that investigates the inefficiency of the world's plastic economy.

WORLDS FIRST OCEAN CLEANING SYSTEM
by The Ocean Cleanup Team
Is the longest floating structure in world history
Boyan Slat, 20-year old founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup
said:
“......Taking care of the world’s ocean garbage problem
is one of the largest environmental challenges mankind faces today.
Not only will this first cleanup array contribute to cleaner waters and coasts
but it simultaneously is an essential step towards our goal of cleaning up the GREAT PACIFIC GARBAGE PATCH
This deployment will enable us to study the system’s efficiency and durability over time"
Boyan Slat announced at Asia’s largest technology conference
the Seoul Digital Forum, in South-Korea.
that
the world’s first system to passively clean up plastic pollution from the world’s oceans
is to be deployed in 2016
.
The feasibility of deployment, off the coast of Tsushima,
an island located in the waters between Japan and South-Korea is currently being researched http://www.theoceancleanup.com/blog...n-cleaning-system-to-be-deployed-in-2016.html

“Fusion is one of those technologies which, if it could be harnessed, could be scaled up rapidly to be deployed world-wide by 2050 and could make a very big difference to carbon emissions and therefore to climate change from 2050 onwards.”
We really don't have that much time. Either we come to senses and start fixing things right now or we're gone as a human race in a decade or two.

Sounds like we're doomed then. Fossil fuels still rule, and no serious effort is strong enough to overcome that addiction for several decades. Bummer!
