Where to focus my energies

Hi everybody. For a good while now I've liked the idea of immersing myself into some field of work. I have a lot of energy inside of me, but it needs somewhere to go. If I don't do anything I get tired and depressed. A major difficulty for me is that it's hard to focus. I have a lot of different interests, but I have a hard time taking any of them seriously enough to commit to them. What are those interests? Well, I see myself as a performing artist, painter, naturopath (or at least something to do with Earth based medicine), scientist (I am really attracted to chemistry, although I struggle a lot with math, so I am intimidated by that field). I could go on, but those are the major ones, so I'll leave it there.

Though I graduated from high school a few years ago I have not been to college. I love the idea of going, but I don't want to go unless I know what I want to do because it is so expensive. I realize that college is not something I "have" to do to obtain a job I like, but I just think I would enjoy it and also benefit from it in practical ways.

To get to the bottom line, I am asking for some interpretations of my natal chart in regards to a suitable occupation.

OH! And I realize this chart does not show my Ascendant (which is in Cancer) and my Midheaven (which is in Pisces), so there you have it!
Thank you's all around!

Re: Where to focus my energies

Your chart does show your ascendant and midheaven. They appear as dark lines. Anyone familiar with birth charts can pick them out.

No surprise that you have many interests. You have a splash chart: the planets all spread out. Any part of your chart where you have planets represents an area of focus for your life. People whose planets are mostly concentrated in one or two areas tend to have a clear focus. That doesn't mean they always go right into a career and stick with it. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they do many different things that all have a common theme.

Those of us with spread out chart patterns (I have one, too), are the jacks and jills of all trades. If you have that kind of chart pattern, you have to keep your fingers in multiple pies. Trying to focus on one thing only just won't work. That doesn't necessarily mean you can't build a career, but you need to do it in an eclectic way. You might have multiple careers in your lifetime. There's no law that says you have to pick one only and stick with it until you're old enough to retire. It's fine to pursue one interest for a while, then shift gears and focus on something else, or even to pursue multiple interests at the same time.

Adding fuel to your fire, you have a powerful Uranus and a nice sun/Jupiter trine in fire signs. Uranus is on your descendant--that's one of the angles in your chart, opposite your ascendant--and any planet on an angle is extra powerful. People with strong Uranus (something else you and I have in common!) are the think-outside-the-box kind. Living a thoroughly conventional life, again, just won't work.

Finally, a bit about your sun/Jupiter trine. Sun in your birth chart represents your core personality, and its placement shows what kind of growth you need most. Aries is a very impulsive sign and loves challenges and adventures. Leo, where Jupiter trines your sun from, is about ultimate ego development, performing, joy, creativity... to name a few things. Jupiter is the luck planet. It carries a carefree, curious, happy-go-lucky kind of attitude, and in astrology, the part of your chart where Jupiter appears is an area of your life where you are likely to be very lucky.

Fortunately for you, Jupiter is in the second house, which is the house of money. Chances are that you are very, very good at making money. A possible pitfall of that is that you may be even better at spending it. If that is true for you, then it's important that you find a way to budget and keep yourself from spending more than you have. Deciding not to go to college unless it will really help you, because of the expense, is one of those financially wise decisions.

Second house also speaks to your approach to making money. With Jupiter in Leo in the second, you might do very well in a creative profession. You mentioned performing... that would certainly fit the bill, as would painting. Those don't even have to be mutually exclusive. Perhaps you could come up with a performance in which you paint, like Yoko Ono did not too long ago.

I do see more, but don't have time to write it all now. Could continue if you want.

Re: Where to focus my energies

and so
given that
10th SIGN of your natal chart is ARIES

Domicile ruler of Aries 10th SIGN is Mars
Exalted ruler of Aries 10th SIGN is the Sun

Sun in 10th indicates a possibility of a notable career

dependent on other chart factors
Mercury in Aries 10th SIGN is also an influence

and
9th SIGN of your natal chart is PISCES

Domicile ruler of Pisces MC is Jupiter
Exalted ruler of Pisces MC is Venus

the fact that all of these planets via their natal aspects
have an influence on your career
explains your multiple interests

That is so true! And thank you so much for your thorough response; it's insightful. I used to be a lot worse at saving money, but I have been with my Taurus boyfriend for almost two years now, and I think due to his influence, my attitude toward money has become much more stabilized.

I didn't realize that I have a strong Uranus. For personal analysis, I've usually disregarded my outer planets more or less since they're generational. But it makes sense, because I feel very Aquarian at times, even though the only planet I have in Aquarius is Saturn. In high-school I was thought of as a basket case.

I can be a little pessimistic at times, so believing that I can make money from the arts is hard to believe, but with Jupiter in my 2nd house trining my Sun in the 10th, perhaps there is a chance. Again, thanks for all of the input, it's very generous of you to share so much information. I'd like to hear more if you feel like going on.

And I see what you mean about the thick, dark lines pointing toward the Ascendant and Midheaven. I love how there are endless things to learn about astrology.

Re: Where to focus my energies

I also see why you would be so interested in earth based medicine. Your chart is very good for that, too, and it should also work as a way for you to make a living.

Moon placement, and your ascendant, are key here. Moon is always one of the strongest indicators in a natal chart, but yours is even more so: it's angular (on your IC, or nadir) and rules your ascendant. Moon tends to vibe especially well with the fourth house, too.

One of the possible indications of the fourth house/IC is land. Cancer shares that indication, and moon as ruler of Cancer reinforces that. Archetypally, Cancer may be considered the Healer, while Virgo is about service and perfecting the self through perfection of a skill. In practical terms, any kind of medicine is a skill that must be practiced and honed over time.

The land connection in particular works very well for earth based medicine. I've learned through this forum that I have a similar indicator in my chart... and I'm now enrolled in an herbalism program, starting next month. I didn't do that just because of what I heard on here, but that was a nudge in that direction, along with an interest in herbalism that, for me, had been building up for some time.

Since your second house cusp is also in Cancer, your moon also rules your second house. Jupiter, meanwhile, works in your second house because it's placed there, but it also rules your sixth house of day-to-day work--cusp in Sagittarius--and is the traditional ruler of your MC in Pisces!

In addition to its "live big" message, Jupiter is associated with learning and teaching. Learning alternative medicine would take up a good deal of the practice--that is, after all, why they call it practice--and plenty of people in those fields become teachers after years of practice.

Entering that kind of field wouldn't even necessarily require a traditional college education. Herbalists learn the trade through apprenticeships, typically studying with a few different teachers, and the main criteria for entering any herbalism program is your interest and commitment, not your previous education. Typically, they don't even ask about your formal education. It's cheaper than college, too: an in depth program of several months to a year would cost a few thousand dollars, but not the sky high tuition that universities charge.

For that matter, your interests in performing and earth based medicine could be combined for shamanic healing. Plenty of theatrics involved in that.

Re: Where to focus my energies

That's really cool that you're studying herbalism. As you might have guessed, I've thought about doing that before; I've worked a little bit with plants through farming. I guess it would follow that one would learn a bit about chemistry from studying plants. I love the psychedelic world of plants - how they communicate to our anatomy in these modes that directly link us to the language of the Earth. What are you hoping to do with the knowledge you attain from your studies?

It sounds like my chart is aligned for a pretty kick-*** career, whatever it may be. I like this.

I should mention that I've studied massage therapy and earned a certificate in that field, but after graduation I didn't feel like I was ready for that kind of work. Things about boundaries, maybe you know. Anyways, I've been thinking about going back to it recently, if anything, just as a means of putting my foot back into the world of alternative therapies. I guess I've got more time to think about where I want to invest myself.

I get the feeling that I will go back to school or go through some kind of training this upcoming year because in my Solar return chart I've got my Mars in Sagittarius and my Sun in the 9th house.

Re: Where to focus my energies

You've given me a great deal to take in and I appreciate you taking the time to share your analysis.

It's weird that you would point out that I am having employment issues because I am currently unemployed; I just moved to a new place. Usually I am pretty lucky with getting jobs, but so far nothing has happened - just a few hopeful prospects.

I have been thinking more lately about doing art commissions and some free-lance stuff. I don't expect it to pay my bills, but it's a nice feeling for me to make money from something I enjoy doing anyways. Having these interpretations of my chart has helped me believe that it could be profitable for me.

I have also been thinking that now may be a good time for me to really delve into artistic expression, be it painting or dancing, of which both things I pursue. I am thinking that Mars going into retrograde Scorpio for so long, activating my Cancer ascendant's 5th house could be a useful energy. Already I have been feeling intensely focused on artwork and I have a tremendous amount of energy for it - I have been able to complete whole pieces in one night, whereas it would usually take me 2-4 weeks.

Re: Where to focus my energies

For me it has been the same thing. I have many interests and I find it difficult to decide what is it that I should be doing. So far I have been working at University as Project Researcher as part of business team for technology comercialisation. I have also earned money as graphic designer, designing posters, annual reports, pamphlets, brochures, etc. I love working with computers. Currently I am studying trying to get MSC in Finance, graduating in some of following profiles (not sure yet which direction I will take) as Portfolio Manager, Quantitative Analyst, CIO, Market Strategist. So far I feel like that saying; “Jack of all traits, master of none” cause I can fit in so many different environments, delivering good job, but I still dont have my bliss, or at least that is how I feel. What do you guys think?
Here is my chart.

My house cusps are similar to your own, I have Pisces on the MC as well. Since aqua cusp is the 9th house, a formal education might not be for you. Usually it indicates a break in formal education. Or interests in alternative spiritualities, astrology etc.etc.
My recommendation pursue your interests but make sure to obtain documents of completion like certificates, licenses along the way. Perhaps even a 2 year degree at a Community College - don't know what country you live in, or if you have them. But if you do, get as much education as possible while you are still quite young so you have more opportunity.
Even if university doesn't pan out, you will have something to fall back on that employers do and will care about.

Best of luck to you.

Thanks, ashriia. I live in the U.S. so college is terribly expensive, but recently I have been applying for scholarships and FAFSA, which is a government program to help pay for college tuition. I've already calculated how much I could be eligible for and it's quite a bit - at least enough to get a good taste of college.

Since starting this thread I have been teetering between two very different things: either a Japanese book translator or a Jungian Psychoanalyst. I realize that these both require a lot of education and work, but I sincerely think I have it in me. Especially with Saturn in Sagittarius at the moment bringing "easier" discipline to my Sun. I have noticed lately that it's easier to commit to projects and set goals, so hopefully that will translate for schoolwork.

I'm leaning a lot more towards Jungian Psychoanalysis. I've listened to some in-depths lectures on what its all about and it gets my heart a-flutter, which is a good sign.

Here is my chart.
Well, you have your Mars in the third house, the house correspondent with Gemini, so I can kind of relate there since my Mars is in Gemini (and actually in the 12th house - the house of Pisces!). It makes sense that you would want to be doing a little bit of everything. Gemini is the classic Jack of all Trades, as I say.

I'm an amateur when it comes to reading charts, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt and seek further validation, but to venture with an informed guess I would say that having Pluto in your 10th house is significant to your career path. I think it shows that you have the potential to have a position of great authority or power, since Pluto is power and the 10th house represents your work in the public sphere.

Pluto is making a trine to your Sun, which is a positive thing. Trines induce a very easy exchange of energy between whichever planets are involved and so sometimes it can generate passivity, but I don't imagine Pluto settling for anything less than its potential. So, I'd say its simply beneficial to you. Your Mars also makes a trine to your Sun, even better. All of this shows that you have a lot of ambition and a capability to succeed... in whatever you decide. Haha.

Since your MC is in Libra it could be good for you to chose a career involving partnerships... and maybe even more so since your Sun is in the 7th house - the "Libra" house.

Like I said before, take this with a grain of salt, but if any of it resonates with you then that's great and means its possibly worth further investigation. :]

Uranus/freedom/independence/art - Logically optimistic
Neptune/dreams/escape/inspiration - Logically optimistic
Pluto/boldness/extrovert - Emotionally thoughtful

You could design skyscrapers with your art/inspiration... or maybe some furniture? With your communication you could also be an emergency services worker I think. Either on the phone or in the car. Or talk a guy down from jumping off a roof? Or fitness /gym instructor ?

Thanks. I don't actually feel like I'm that good of a communicator in real life, though. I mean - I can be. But I operate much better in a one-on-one setting. I'm much better at writing. Often times when I speak its hard for me to find the right words, I think thats influenced by Gemini being in the 12th house and I've had panic attacks from public speaking before. I'm usually pretty shy and like keeping to myself (Moon in Virgo and Cancer rising). I'm not what you think of when "Aries" comes to mind. I can be brave in certain situations and my independence and self-efficiency is extremely important to me, so I think that's where it manifests. I dislike skyscrapers to the point I avoid living in places that have them; I'm much more nature oriented - Venus in Taurus.

Haha, I don't mean to be a downer - I appreciate your analysis, but I wanted to give feedback.

Re: Where to focus my energies

Gemini in the 12th might make you feel like being an entertainer? Bright/bubbly precise, very bold?

I get wierd in public speaking too. I naturally want to be like snoop-dogg or a cowboy in speech delivery in comparison to the 'set way' people do it. Have to do it your own way.

Thanks for your reply. I find it hard to focus myself, especially lately. If I think about it it somehow my energy levels droped significantly year ago and I am still strugling to move forward with clear idea what to do. I would like to do many things, but in the end I just whine up in my bed feeling like someone squeezed the life out of me, like used lemon. It probably has to do something with current planetary positions. But other than that, I am stuborn, but somehow lazy, and still manage to do it as long as I am emotionally fulfiled. I have need for someone to always tap me and say that i am doing good job, I think it's the planets in sixth, no matter how good job I do, still I need validation from others to feel good about it. I have never liked to be alone, that might be the seventh house you are refering to. I like to do many thigs but I have fear and blockages what if I cant do it and then this fear grows so big that I get chocked by it and the idea of doing something and being responsible for immediately scares me so much that I mentally reject it. And this is something new to me, I never have felt this way before so I am still trying to figure outhow to cope with it. But thanks for trying to figure it out,I appreciate it

Thank you's all around!
hi
you have mercury square the node, this makes you very intelligent and with the venus/merury midpoint square to Jupiter ,you could succeed in a creative profession. but mercury is the strongest. it is interesting that you have trouble with mass as the mercury/node square usually gives a excellent deductive mind. I woul have to hypothise that there si some traumatic emotional experience in your childhood that has blocked your mathematical perspective. ok yeah, your Saturn/Neptune midpoint is conjunct the node and square to mercury. this ccn show self esteem isuues and can reflect of you father. either he was a weak, non existence presence or he engended a intellectual insecurity in you.
but Saturn/Neptune with the node greatly increase you creativity. it would tend to mystery novel if you were a writer.
the Saturn/Uranus midpoint is also in conjunction to the node. this gives an ability to create out of chaos when favorable but can make it hard to make decisions when unfavorable

This isn't stars related, you've got anti-social people in your life... and they've left negative emotional memories in you to make you fear what you're doing....... Even if you express some particular energy, and there is always quarralsome energy from someone else because of their stars they should know better than to negatively effect you.........
