There is another "school of thought" on global warming that says it has nothing to do with humans or CO2, it's just natural phenomenon or part of the Earth's cycle. IMO, this is even worse scenario because in that case there is very little we can do about it.

Still, organizing ourselves and making a collaborative effort will greatly enhance our chances of survival.

It's funny, when we think about aliens from other worlds in our SF literature and movies, it is hard for us to imagine that they have 'countries' and fight each other. They appear to us as a team, as united and cohesive (e.g. Martians) and yet we can only see ourselves as divided.

Actually, there are supposed to be some friendly ones protecting us from the unfriendlies in one version. Yeah, if it's the volcanoes for example--but wait: What if they're activating "natural" phenomena to make it look like a Terrestrial cycle!? In any event, we should be doing everything we can to slow it down. Fossil fuels are definitely contraindicated. Why can't the big Industrialists see this?

They know all this but they care only about PROFIT. Another example is PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. Throughout history, humans worked hard to produce things that were up to the best of their knowledge and skill. Today, whole teams of scientists and technicians work hard to produce stuff that will last only until a warranty expires so you'll need to buy another one. All in the name of PROFIT. We live in the 'upside down' society.

Actually, the right choice of words is GREED. It is normal to strive for profit in the capitalism, even beneficial for everyone but when this drive for profit exceeds the boundaries of what is morally and socially appropriate then it is GREED.

Scientists Implant False Memories Into Sleeping Mice

http://www.iflscience.com/brain/scientists-implant-false-memories-sleeping-mice

Researchers from the French National Center for Scientific Research have successfully implanted artificial memories into the minds of snoozing mice, a first for neuroscience.

Comment:
While potential benefits could be "Matrix-style learning" or helping people with memory problems, the potential for misuse is far greater, IMO. This could lead to a whole new era of brainwashing, making TV propaganda obsolete.

There's a Country song, "I Know What I Was Feelin' but What Was I Thinkin'?"
This research seems to be the exact reverse of that question. These scientists suck!

This could lead to a whole new era of brainwashing.......

This is the scariest discouvery so far..... I never thought i'd say that i want to hang onto all of my memories, the good and the bad. If this ever becomes a reality for humans, pray it will be used to help....

Carl Sagan was down on (not with) Astrology; but, nobody's perfect. He was a firm believer in Humanity's potential.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=m6ugFcwsgpE

I doubt he knew his optimism was in line with a basic tenet of the Aquarian Age concept that human nature will change for the better.

Maybe some of Sagan's hopes and dreams will come true. This is directly connected with Haramein's breakthrough theories.

Breakthrough: NASA Confirms Electromagnetic Drive Produces Thrust in Vacuum

An electromagnetic drive being developed by NASA to operate without rocket fuel, in a vacuum, is seemingly defying the laws of physics, and raising hopes for the future of space travel.

OK, time to revive this thread.

World first: Japanese robot enrolls in high school

A high school in Japan is about to receive a new student, and his name is Pepper. He's likely to stand out among his classmates, however, because Pepper is actually a humanoid robot. It marks the first time a robot will study alongside human students.

Billionaire pledges $100m to send spaceships to Alpha Centauri

Billionaire Yuri Milner, along with physicist Stephen Hawking, announced the largest ever investment in interstellar travel: a $100 million fund to research and prototype a spacecraft capable of reaching the nearest star in just 20 years.

the unspoken problem is that the cosmic radiation in space would kill the astronauts well before they reached the destination.
For that matter we cannot even go to Mars for the same reason. Scientists don't talk about this. If the technology existed, they could clean up Fukushima. They can't because there is no way to block the radiation. It would take 7 miles of lead sheathing around space vehicle to get to Mars without killing the passengers. Space travel is a pipe dream with existing technology.
If wormholes were found to exist and some type of electromagnetic propulsion systems were developed, then space travel might be feasible.
