Cultured Pearl v/s Natural Pearl

I would like to know whether cultured pearls and real pearls have the same effect in pleasing Lord Moon? I have been advised to wear a 7 carat pearl, which is way too costly if taken in Natural form...
If cultured pearls are not that effective? Then which other stone can be worn?
