Question

Hi there,
I’ve been studying astrology for a while now and, lately, I’m confronting a problem.
I’ll give you an example. We all know that Venus square Neptune gives idealism in love relationships, sometimes deception in love; we can be drown to victim/savior relationships or to a person we can’t have etc. Well, the thing is that Venus in 12th house has almost the same symbolism. How can I separate them?
thank you

It would help to see a chart so we can see signs, houses and what planets are in aspect to Venus and the House Ruler of Venus.

Hi,

Unfortunately I can't add her chart, but I can say that she has Venus in Scorpio conjunct Saturn and Lilith in 12th house. Then, she has Venus sextile Moon and trine Mars.
Her Sun is in Sagittarius conjunct Mercury in the 1st house. Moon in Virgo ( square Mercury, opposite Mars, sextile Saturn, sextile Venus.)

I hope this helps a little bit.

But, actually, my question is how can I separate them ? I mean the symbolism/interpretation is the same for Venus in 12th and Venus square Neptune, or there is a difference? ( doesn't matter the chart)

thank you!

I believe (methods I use) that:
-Venus in Scorpio in 12th = factor 1
-Venus conjunct Saturn = factor 2a
-Venus conjunct Lilith = factor 2b
-Venus with Saturn + Lilith in the 12th = factor 2c
-Venus square Neptune = factor 3
-Venus squaring Neptune from 12th house to Neptune in (3rd or 9th house as the case might be) = factor 3a
-Venus disposited by Mars (Scorpio sign ruler-or, if desired, Venus disposited by Mars and Pluto) = factor 4

...then the blending of these factors will give an idea regarding Venus role and connections in the reference chart.

How to attach a chart as thumbnail

Firstly, for a proper evaluation you should consider posting your chart with progressions and transits on same wheel found in extended chart selection. Reduce the ratio of orbs to 80%, select smallest image size 63% on picture, then choose house system (my personal preference is for Equal house rather than the default of placidus), right mouse click and select 'save target pic as' and save to hard drive then upload here

the above threads are 'how to' get, select and post the correct charts.

Remember planets are modified by sign, where they express are house and how they express are the 'aspects'

So venus in 12th may not have been shown much affection in childhood, may have secret affairs, liasions, keep affection to themselves, find it hard to express. 12th is Cadent therefore hidden

Houses: angular houses 1/7 4/10 the energies of planets placed here are obvious cos it's your 'shop window' visible for everyone to see. Next the succeedent houses 2/8 & 5/11 the energies in these houses are not in shop window the are in the shop, but stood behind the counter, ready to come out when needed. Lastly, cadent houses 6/12 & 3/9 these houses/planets are not in shop window or stood behind the counter, they are in the back storeroom and only come out when 'triggered' or an emergency and much harder to recognise and access...

The houses are like the backdrop of a stage, the setting if you like, the planets are like actors and the aspects are how the planets behave in that settings/stage....

“The angles of the chart are the strongest, most potent sectors. In most house systems these mark the beginnings of the first, tenth, seventh and fourth houses, in order of potency. Any planet in conjunction with an angle will have a marked influence that resonates throughout the chart and greatly colours its overall meaning. Planets located in the angles of the chart are the strongest and most significant. Because of their primary importance, the angles are often referred to as the cardinal points and they relate directly to the cardinal directions east, south, west and north.”
http://www.astrologycom.com/houses.html

“The eleventh, second, eighth and fifth houses are called succedent ("following" the angles), while the third, twelfth, ninth and sixth are termed cadent ("falling away" from the angles). The succedents are next in strength. Planets in succedent houses function at around 50% of their power, based on the strength of an angular placement, which is the most potent. The cadent houses are traditionally held to be poor and of little efficacy. According to traditional astrology, planets in cadent houses only function at 25% of their power, compared with a position in one of the angles of the chart. The succedent houses follow the angles; the cadent houses come after the succedents.”

Now Venus in a different house will behave very differently. To me venus retrograde is 'more' similar to 12th house venus to. Plus we need to assess 'other aspects' these two planets make

Hope this helps

Well I have venus squaring neptune and my venus is in pisces (sort of like having a 12th house venus), and I can see why you might find them similar; for me it's like a double-whammy. I think it might be helpful to look at other aspects in her chart that might counteract it or at least balance it out. For me it's my cautious capricorn moon, I'm guessing the saturn/venus conjunction might do a little of the same for her (at least outwardly). My only other suggestion would be to try and find something online which specifically looks at a 12th house expression of venus in scorpio; I'd imagine her love affairs are very secretive!
