Well said, people
And no doubt, Shining Ray, there is quite a rebellious and aggressive individual here! Wow. Just the Sun/Mars square alone will contribute to a highly combative nature (I know firsthand, lol... I have that aspect - I was a handful in my teens!) but add the Sun is disposited by Mars and Mars is in the 8th house (which is classically rules) in Cancer (emotions) with the Sun in it's own 5th house (_highly_ expressive!), and you've got the perfect recipe for an emotionally charged individual who isn't afraid to express it in an aggressive manner. Given the rest of the chart, emotions for this individual are not soft and touchy-feely as they may seem for a cancer-type individual, but may be better described as the "eye of the storm" of the "inside of the tornado", where massive currents swirl around in a most aggressive and powerful manner. Such intensity, bunched up in a little ball with pure turbulence surrounding, making it hard for anything to enter or exit without damage inflicted upon it. This may be an over-dramatization, but purposefully so to illustrate the sort of energy at work.
I would certainly focus on that T-square, it is amazingly powerful and really the central "meat" of his chart. Also notice how the Uranus-Neptune/Mars opposition is not only t-squared by the Sun, and turned into a kite with Mercury/Pluto, but also sits at the Moon/Saturn midpoint, with Moon and Saturn in quintile, further reinforcing his need for emotional (Moon) security (Saturn).
The Scorpio ascendant with an ultra-tight Pluto (ruler of Scorpio!) conjunction is hugely powerful as well, and this really makes him super-secretive and likely difficult to access. His emotions could boil under the surface like a pressure cooker, and he might be highly adverse to letting someone into his psychological nature, for he may fear his own psychological intensity. He's truely a Plutonian! At this young age, the raw intensity and power of his very being may actually be scary for him, and it may be hard for him to possess himself. His earlier experiences likely demonstrated to him his own potential for his personal power to inflict itself in damaging means, and he may have retreated within himself to avoid having to reckon with his own whirlwind. Yes, us Plutonians can literally be afraid of ourselves, and some of us invest significant energy in having to reconnect with our primal power after we unconsciously disconnect from it early on in life to avoid the storm that we must learn to harness in a more positive manner. It's difficult, and a lesson often only learned through the cycle of Chiron, a shamanic force which can lead us to deal with our most "unconfrontable" issues, and a partner of Pluto, sharing a similar irregular physical orbit and focus on difficult psychological/spiritual issues.
It is this very Chiron cycle which will activate strongly in his life early next year, but has already begun to activate. Transiting Chiron opposes his natal Chiron, called the "Chiron Opposition", which represents a point in time when the native has an uncanny ability to access, illuminate and thus heal/transmute their deep issues and difficult patterns. For him, the goal of the process is to find enough emotional stability (at the first opposition, the North Node transits Saturn while the transiting Moon sits on his Jupiter, ruler of his Moon, while opposition Chiron forms a tight septile to his Moon) to begin expressing himself in a more healthy manner (natal Chiron in Leo, difficulties relating to self-expression).
Chiron stationed retrograde 1.5 degrees from opposition to his natal Chiron about a week ago, and generally within an orb of about 4-5 degrees of a major quadrature (conjunction, opposition, or square) the effects of Chiron will be felt in a fairly strong manner. The timeframe would be Feb 26 2007 to Aug 21 2007, going with a 5 degree orb. Chiron then stations direct later this year, coming back to the 5 degree orb on December 15th, and makes its first exact opposition on Feb 23 2008. It then goes backwards (stations retrograde), making another opposition on Sep 6 2008, then goes forward (stations direct) to make its final opposition pass on Dec 11 2008, and remains within the 5 degree orb until Feb 25 2009, although the separating orb of the final pass is generally smaller, so the conclusion should be reached by the beginning of 2009.
No, that doesn't mean "all hell ensues" for almost 2 more years. The opposition is a very positive point, when a native has the ability to help themselves through an inner journey, and as such, they have the ability to access and transmute their deepest psychological and spiritual troubles. A person who handles the first Chiron opposition in a positive manner, and is given good guidance and positive encouragement that no matter what they face that they are still "ok" and a good person (reinforcement of self-confidence is very important in this process), faces a much brighter outlook on the rest of their journey. In short, the first opposition is a pivotal period of inner journey that will set the stage for much of the rest of the process, at the very least until the Chiron return around age 50.
2008 is when he will reap the most benefit from (and also possible be in the most need of) counseling, guidance, inner exploration and psychological realignment. As he will be within orb of the cycle for the next few months, as a "prelude", it's a great time to do whatever you can to help the process get off to a solid start. Establishing channels of communication seems most important, be it between you and him or between him and an experienced counselor, which I would strongly recommend if you can find someone capable of giving him a non-family outlet. Realize that these are channels which will need to address Plutonian issues, often taboo or touchy subjects. Given his difficult chart, and the Mercury/Moon square indicating difficulty in communication with the mother, and the fact that the Mercury/Pluto trine form the apparent resolution indicator for the T-square, it would really appear some sort of external counseling from a trained professional could go a long way. It's not something you should force him into, but if you were to be able to locate a professional you thought could help and he was willing to give it a try, it's certainly a worthy consideration. Myself, with a strong Sun/Mars square and strong Pluto implications in my chart, including Pluto close to my MC, and Mercury in Scorpio in tight aspect to Pluto, I can say that my counselor as a teen was instrumental in helping me work through some things, and although I went in protest at the time, I am thankful my parents gave me that gift in retrospect.
2008 will also be the year of his Uranus-Uranus sextile, the first major aspect in the Uranus cycle, which "switches on" his drive for autonomy, freedom, and independence, and basically indicates the start of his push to become independent. This is the real beginning of the "teenage crisis", and happens to us all around age 14-15. This process culminates around age 20-22, at the first Uranus square, when the native tests the results of their breaking away from the parents and gets the first real challenge of independence. The combination of these two cycles overlapping in 2008 indicate a very pivotal and important year, one which will set the stage for years to come.
The Kite, a soft aspect configuration, is generally positive, yet the harsh t-square will dominate his being until he learns to resolve the energies and integrate them. Dynamic aspects such as the square and opposition show the challenges, where as the softer aspects (sextiles and trines) show paths to their resolution. It is thus the Pluto/Mercury trine which lines up with the opposition (forming the kite) that shows the path for resolution. As Mercury represents communication and the logical, conscious mind, and Pluto represents the deep-seated emotional being and the patterns of the (often unconscious) inner psychology, talking out his inner storm may play a big part in helping to resolve it. What is then important, is that someone is there to listen, and he's willing to open up to that person. In all reality, it doesnt matter who it is, as long as that person understands how to address the needs of a challenging youth and can maintain his trust. Trust is extremely important to Scorpio/Pluto types, and is not only difficult to form, but easily broken. They just wont open up to untrusted people.
Has he been showing signs of confusion about his identity lately? Obviously it's natural for a young teen, but it's important to note that Neptune (confusion and dissolution) is transiting the around the 21-22 degrees of Aquarius, and as his T-square is around these degrees, Neptune is activating the T-square. The potential identity confusion may also play a role in whatever issues you've had with him lately, as he could very well be starting to dissolve some of his old personality. If he appears to be unsure of himself, or indicating he's confused in any manner, do help him to understand confusion happens at times and that he's young with plenty of time to figure things out... and use it as an opportunity to build a bond between yourself and whatever part of him he's wanting to dissolve and renew. You might try talking about dreams, first about yours, then about his (so that you're not prying to hard!), and see if he'll open up to you about his dreams; this is a primary realm of Neptune and may give you some very interesting insights into his experience with the Neptune-Sun transit, and may also cause him to bubble up some very interesting and unexpected things from his unconscious, that will clue you in to whats going on -- The nice thing about this approach is he probably doesn't consciously understand his dreams, so this might not activate his "Scorpio defenses" (those claws... they're tough! lol), but with a little effort you can likely understand what's going on under the surface. If he takes to this method, go get yourself a book or two on dream interpretation, unless of course you've already done dreamwork
As Neptune also relates to the spiritual realms and our etheric bodies, if he has been displaying an interest in anything spiritual, definitely encourage him, as any positive belief and experiences with that beyond our physically limited existence can be highly liberating and will encourage the more positive side of Neptune. As this position of Neptune puts it in sextile to his Sun, it's really a powerful position. Another consideration is music, if this is something he's shown an interest in, by all means, encourage it, as musical interests are one of the more positive expressions of Neptune
Have you done a synastry chart between yourself and your son? It might be quite interesting to see how your planets line up with his, so you can get a better feeling for how you activate and interact with his energy. I'm guessing you've probably considered or done this already, but if not... It's certain to be telling! You might consider posting the synastry chart in the relationships forum here, since that's usually where synastry work is done, and get some feedback on the interactions between you two.
Anyways, I know that's a bit to chew on, so I'll stop and hope I didn't put you to sleep already. Feel free to query if I've confused you, of which I'm guessing I've done some of
Don't take my words as concrete pronouncements, but rather analytical suggestions and food for thought - Just hoping to give you some ideas of help him stay on path
Obviously, you are much more familiar with your young glowing ball of intensity than I am, although I can relate to some of the placements given I have a few similar ones, and can see he may not be the easiest one to handle, although certainly has some really amazing potential and very strong energies!
