Dealing with cusps and progression

ok im a thinker.. i enjoy thinking and figuring things out. that is of course a virgo trait and a trait of a simian (someone who beares the simian crease), but i was born on the virgo end of the virgo/libra cusp.. i have to believe in cusps due to the fact that i fit very well into the libra zodiac probably more than the virgo zodiac even though both very much apply to me.. alot of people would agree with this (mostly other cusps) while others wont (mostly noncusps due to the fact that... theyre not cusps.. haha) but my question pertaining to progression goes like this.. is it possible that the feeling of a cusp is brought on by progression? being born so late on a zodiac sign and then progressing so soon and at a young age into the next zodiac, like me who progressed at the age of two.. is this what makes cusps possible? and real? (if this is true of course that would mean anyone born in the virgo/libra cusp after the sun has exited the virgo zodiac is not apart of the cusps and is strictly a libra) or are cusps created due to the old understanding that zodiacs fade in and out like the sun light does on the earth, meaning that it is just as bright as it is at 8am as it is at 8pm, just one is gaining while the other is diminishing torwards sunlight or darkness... (if this is true then it would mean that everyone is a cusp except those who were born at the exact mid-point of the zodiac or near it, and they would be as pure of a zodiac as it gets, and only those who were born torwards the edges of course like me can really notice what a cusp is cuz we are equally both...) both are good theories and im willing to hear more but please dont tell me cusps dont exist, inless you are very convincing with evidence, then we can debate

May I suggest you read the 'welcome to the world of astrology’ and other ---sticky' at the top of this forum? It has some great explanations, links etc. At the top of every forum there are lots of ‘stickys’ which explain matters in that forum, along with guidelines & tips

There is a 'plethora' of information on AW, espec in the 'stickys' at the top of every forum, our Education forum and Recommendations forum to. Plus we have a good search feature,[but not foolproof obviously, so try here first] bit like google using keywords – initially select advanced and try just selecting 'titles' rather than posts or you'll get too many threads. If this doesn’t get results then try google

Planets conj House cusp
“Ascendant at 15’ Libra and Jupiter 13’ Libra. That would place Jupiter in the 12th house, right? But many thoughtful astrologers would read this as Jupiter being conjunction with Ascendant, and end up reading it as bringing its action to bear in the first house, rather than in the 12th.
This same idea would apply for each and every house cusp. If the planet is IN THE SAME SIGN as the sign on the next house cusp, and close enough to be CONJUNCT WITH that next house cusp, the action of the planet will be directed into oncoming house”

Ptolemy says the influence of the house begins to be felt 5° before the actual cusp.
http://www.astrologycom.com/houses.html

“Astrologers have seen a body influencing the house it is about to enter, time and time again. All theorizing aside, the planet casting its shadow ahead works. I can speak from personal experience, as well as reading ancient texts. If you discover this as true, then the next question may be, "Just how close must a body be to a cusp before it begins to be felt in the neighboring house?"
I've seen some authors say 3 degrees. I've seen some that give 5 degrees. I have seen some that even give 8 degrees. And there may be other variations.”
