Traditional Astrology For discussions on Traditional Astrology only. (Note: Typically, traditional astrology is defined as using techniques developed prior to 1700 by astrologers from the Hellenistic, Persian, Hebrew, and Renaissance eras. In general, it relies on Ptolemaic aspects (sextile, trine, square, opposition and conjunction) though there may be some exceptions, and always excludes modern planets (Neptune, Uranus and Pluto,) as well as any asteroids. The focus is less on what would be considered modern psychological chart interpretation and more on prediction. Members who wish to explore a combination of traditional and modern ideas should feel free to start a new thread in an appropriate forum for further discussion.)

What exactly is a monomoiria?

What is it and how do you find the sign and planet monomoiria in the chart?

Can anyone give an example?

Re: What exactly is a monomoiria?

This is not the only table of monomoiria. Ptolemy rejects a system that used only the five planets in the order of the Chaldean terms:
By day
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius - Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Mercury and Mars x 6
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn - Venus, Saturn, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter x 6
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - Saturn, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus x 6
Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces - Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Mercury x 6

By night
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius - Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Saturn and Mars x 6
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn - Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Mars and Jupiter x 6
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - Mercury, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter and Venus x 6
Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces - Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury and Saturn x 6

Paulus and Olympiodorus mention the above table given by JA, but also an alternative system based on the triangles:
By day
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius - Sun, Jupiter, Venus, Moon, Saturn, Mercury and Mars
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn - Venus, Moon, Saturn, Mercury, Mars, Sun and Jupiter
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - Saturn, Mercury, Mars, Sun, Jupiter, Venus and Moon
Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces - Mars, Sun, Jupiter, Venus, Moon, Saturn and Mercury

By night
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius - Jupiter, Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury, Saturn and Mars
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn - Moon, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter and Sun
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - Mercury, Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Sun, Moon and Venus
Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces - Mars, Jupiter, Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury and Saturn

These two systems of monomoiria like the Chaldean terms and Valens' seven terms system have Mars as sole ruler of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, just as Ptolemy had it.

It means ''degrees''. Some associated them with occult images, I think Tycho Brahe had a list. Kozminsky Symbols and Sabian Symbols are the modern successors of these ''astrology'' techniques.

There's a difference between patterned associations and "pyschically" obtained or "channelled" associations.

I only recognize physical associations that come from God and non-physical associations that come from the .

You are right though, one is based on numerological reasons, the other on spiritualistic reasons. The purported images of hours, decans and degrees are in the latter category, and seem even more spiritually dangerous.

However, a good part of traditional astrology that is worth studying has natural explanations - https://www.astrologyweekly.com/foru...d.php?t=130894
