South node and outer planets

If we say that the south node indicates the past, past life, karma, and a partner's planet on the south node points to a past life connection, how do we evaluate one of the outer planets falling on the partner's south node? In that case, everyone in that generation would have a karmic contact with the person.
So why is THAT particular relationship karmic, while the other millions are not?

Arguably, everyone in the same generation has a karmic connection with each other. There's the concept of soul groups who all incarnate together. Some individuals just have an especially close connection. Maybe it's from a past life, if you believe in such things. Maybe it's just that they build that karmic connection by spending so much time together in this life. Maybe either or both can be true.

More often than not, significant others are close in age, at least same generation. So if one of them has an outer planet on the other's south node, that often means they have it near their own south node, too, and so does their partner.

If they're not that close in age, there are probably multiple other chart factors suggesting a particularly karmic relationship.
