Astrocarto & Relocation

I start this thread with the intention/hope that others will contribute there information, websites, information into this fascinating branch of astrology.

Astrocartography works and there is forum on AW that covers this and on astro.com on interactive, travel they offer astrocartophy/world maps, which has its place and explains which planets rules lat and long where you relocate to and how this will affect you in this location. Do NOT use a relocated birth chart for anything other than Solar Returns.

Have just realised where the confusion may be on astro.com to get a solar return for a new location, you have to find the option to use a relocated chart, which does mean changing location from where natally you were born to where you are living now. This is just so you can get a relocated solar return only.....

The location in which you were born can never change, but relocating can help you fulfil your dreams or make your life a misery....

Astrocartography (called "Astrogeography" in Europe in earlier years) is one of several methods of Locational Astrology, which purports to identify varying life conditions through differences in location. Developed and popularized by American astrologer Jim Lewis (1941-1995), astrocartography/astrogeography is a locational astrology system that focuses on elements of the relocated natal chart, with these factors indicated on a world map such as the "Astro*Carto*graphy map." Lewis' Astro*Carto*Graphy maps show all locations on the earth where planets were "Angular" (rising, setting, upper transit, lower transit) at the moment of a person's birth. An "angular" planet is basically one sitting in a conjunction with the starting house cusps of the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses, called the "angular houses." With Astrocartography, lines drawn on a world map show where these factors occur for an individual through relocation.
According to Astro*Carto*Graphy theory, if the person were born at any of these locations, the corresponding planet would be said to be prominent and influential in the chart. Jim Lewis took this basic astrological idea one step further by postulating that if a person later travels or visits such an angular location, the planet would have a similar prominent role in the person's experience of that location. These maps are widely used to plan for relocation or travel. As such, they are part of a general branch of astrology known as "relocation astrology". Other techniques used for this purpose include local space mapping, relocated birth charts, and city incorporation charts.

Astro*Carto*Graphy (A*C*G) is one of the most exciting concepts to come out of astrology in the recent renaissance of astrology.

Put simply, when you move to another location - to settle down or for a holiday or just travelling through, different parts of your birth chart are stimulated.
Astrocartography is a means of discovering where in the world you are affected and how. Not only can you understand what forces influence you in your present location but Astrocartography can show you the best places on Earth to pursue your dreams, find spiritual growth, improved health, love and romance, prosperity or adventure...

Astro*Carto*Graphy® Explained is based on the common, instinctive idea that a person has different chances, luck, experiences or options in different locations that you aren't exactly the same person in New York that you are in San Francisco. It works by looking at the planets' relationships to the places you've asked about at the moment of your birth. If a particular planet was especially powerful in the location noted when you were born, then the affairs that it symbolizes should predominate if you travel there, reside there or even have anything to do with that location from some other place.

Astrocartography follows the precept that planets are strongest in the four powerful angle houses (MC, ASV, IC and Desc). Plotting lines on a map where the planets were in angular positions at the time and place of your birth shows where they are powerful geographically. These are the Birth Lines.Their influence is between 400 and 700 miles on either side of the lines in a diminishing manner. (A weak planet will have a lesser geographical influence). But before jumping to conclusion I believe that one must ask oneself what is the value of this Planet in the chart in terms of harmony and power, through aspects and position. At least that is what I do with my clients. I believe it is wrong to send someone to a Jupiter line without first checking how Jupiter functions in the chart.
As for the latitude Crossings they are the results of birth lines intersecting on the planet. Say your Jupiter MC line and your Venus Asc line cross in San Francisco you have a Latitude Crossing Jupiter/Venus which extends around the earth at the same latitude than SF. The interpretation of this Latitude crossing will depend of the qualities of both these planets in your chart but we can expect the experience of sociableness and popularity in this case. However we must remember that Latitude Crossings work as a subplot and their influence (around 70 Miles on each side of the line) should not be exagarrated. Personally I do look at them, I do mention them to my clients but I have not found them very important in analysing a location. They can help to pin point an area but I don't put them very high on the list of priorities.

Lorieno has given permission to post this which I think is exceptional in its explanatin...

Relocated birth charts are more or less astrocartography, whereby all your natal planets are stretched out over the globe and uses lat and long to discover best place to live.

Apparently relocated birth charts does something similar (but not as widely used or known as astrocartography) whereby especially over the Angles could bring a planet out of 12, 3 6 or 9th to become much more active
