Hi there, I've been very interested in astrology lately, kind of always have been but I've been digging deeper now more than usual.

I am a female, Virgo sun, Scorpio moon, and Cancer rising. I have been trying to figure my chart out but can't seem to do it on my own, every website is so different!

I can't seem to actually figure myself out that well either. So hopefully someone can help me find my way because I am completely lost in life.

Firstly, do you notice how almost all your planets are beneath the horizontal (which we call the horizon)? This is called a Night Chart and it indicates very high levels of sensitivity and introversion. There is so much going on in your chart that I do not know where to begin!!

A focal point in your chart is the stellium (3 planets within 10 degrees in the same sign) between Uranus, Saturn and Neptune in Capricorn in the 6th house, but close to the 7th. Everyone born a few months either side of you would have this stellium. It provides very intense focus in your generation to do with bringing change to the formal structures in the society in which you live. You no doubt feel everything in your environment - perhaps through your body, as the 6th house is about body and health. As you get older this stellium will mean more and more to you. At present it no doubt leads you towards being interested in mysticism and spirituality.

Moon conjunct Pluto in Scorpio in the 5th house describes very powerful and intense emotions. The moon describes your emotional expression, your instinctual reactions, as well as the kind of mother you have. Pluto in conjunction with this Moon adds a great deal of intensity, and perhaps describes a mother who is quite controlling, or at the very least over-involved in your life.

There is so much else - your Acsendant is significant. Perhaps you can read the following to help you understand how the ascendant works:
http://www.astrologycom.com/cancerasc.html
http://astrolibrary.org/ascendant.html
http://www.0800-horoscope.com/risingsigns/cancer.php
There were a number of other good descriptions of Cancer ascendant on the web. (My advice is to avoid cafe astrology site, as it's very general, and not accurate enough for users of this forum.)
On the following page, scroll down to Jupiter conjunct Ascendant
http://rugdeeaustralia.tripod.com/id17.html

As I said earlier, that is just the beginning, and the tip of the iceberg!

It's true I am very much a night owl! late night over thinking, analyzing greatly effects my daytime existence. I am not totally aware of how i appear to others, friends, family, colleagues... I might seem weak, shy, or goofy, like a little girl, very innocent, maybe closed off emotionally, but oh man do i have a darker side.

I read over the cancer rising characteristics and an addictive nature seems about right, not necessarily with food (I am very thin) but everything else. But I think the logical Virgo in me helps me keep the darkness at bay at least when i can help it, but i usually just can't win.

It's true I am strongly influenced by strong female characters, i look up to them i wish to exude that kind of outwardly strength, i wish i wasn't so influenced though because i want to be strong myself. My mother has been a hugely negative impact in my life, I have been trying to shut her out since i was 18, but there are still ties due to the rest of my family. She has put me down, criticized me so much for a large part of my life i was not able to function like a normal person, and i still feel like i never really will. Within 5 minutes of seeing her she will pay me 5 insults, and i just don't think she'll ever get it. i don't think i am so unattractive anymore as much as i use to but i think this is due to validation from men.

Inwardly i sometimes have such strong feelings of strength, power, confidence but it drives me crazy because i have no direction in life and am not able to express it in any real or important way.
When it comes to love and men, i feel like somewhat of a snake in the grass, but when someone gets the best of me it really destroys me psychologically. Sexually i feel powerful and have the confidence to pursue a man and be pursued but the same time i am so weak. that it ends badly.

I don't know if i am making any sense! this is all very personal for me, but i was wondering if you or anyone reading had any more perspectives of this. am i doomed to live a life in the shadows? or will i have a greater impact? will i ever be able to find love? and who am i best suited to? what career? will i ever be strong? and why do gravitate towards trouble like a moth to a flame?

And thank you raven for the insight, this is just the tip of the iceberg indeed.

You express yourself very well - are you aware of that? Just by the way you expressed yourself in the above post I would suggest that you keep a private journal - one of those with blank pages in which you can write freely, and illustrate when words fail you. Ah - you have Mercury in Libra (I'd missed that); this describes one who is very skilled with words, and can be a charismatic speaker.

The `darkness' you describe is Pluto-Moon conjunction in Scorpio. Read as much as you can about this. From your above post, I suspect that this aspect currently rules your inner life. Moon in Scorpio can be very sexual, jealous, possessive and it loves intensely and with the expectation that the objects of your passion behave towards you with similar intensity.

Back to your Mercury...............
Are you interested in literature? (Just a thought...)
Your Mercury squares your Capricorn stellium (which I mentioned in post #2) and this can affect how you organise your thoughts, and how you utilise your communication abilities. I would suggest that you are quite intelligent, and that you value this in yourself. You can be hard on yourself, and perhaps over-thinking certain things. The thing you have to be most aware of is deception - by others, and also by you - towards others as well as yourself. You would make a great writer of fiction, but you must keep your fiction world separate from the `real' world, as if the two overlap then you could begin to lose grip on reality.

Your chart indicates talents and a lot of intensity. I could write more, but I would prefer to leave space for others to comment.

May I suggest you read the 'welcome to the world of astrology’ and other ---sticky' at the top of this forum? It has some great explanations, links etc. At the top of every forum there are lots of ‘stickys’ which explain matters in that forum, along with guidelines & tips

There is a 'plethora' of information on AW, espec in the 'stickys' at the top of every forum, our Education forum and Recommendations forum to. Plus we have a good search feature,[but not foolproof obviously, so try here first] bit like google using keywords – initially select advanced and try just selecting 'titles' rather than posts or you'll get too many threads. If this doesn’t get results then try google

Amongst other things, astrology is a wonderful tool for understanding yourself and others better.....enabling us to make better choices in life as we become aware of how our behaviour influences what happens to us through the law of cause and effect. Astrology does not reliably predict the future.......But it can provide an excellent insight into the psychological make-up of people, enabling us to accurately predict their behaviour and it's resultant effects

If you intend to learn about astrology, you will need to begin with a natal chart, it need not necessarily be your own, but many choose to begin this way, in an effort to better understand their own life journey, and purpose. Astrological natal charts are as individual as a persons ‘fingerprints’ depending on where (latitude & longitude) and time of birth. It is important to get your *time of your birth* as this is the most important information.

Here are my personal recommend beginners links to focus upon Natal charts:-

House systems
Lots of people that come into Astrology get their free charts calculated at www.astro.com and the default ‘house system’ used is Placidus and think that’s just the norm and all that there is……..BUT that is just the tip of the iceberg. You can change the default on astro.com in Extended Chart selection to Equal house and a few more.

Throughout the forums but mainly in natal astrology there are two main branches Placidus (unequal size houses) v Equal House (whereby each house is same size) but lots more……. For more information on these go here.

It's only with study and research will you be able to assess where your planets are deposited and in which houses... thus see which 'glove fits'

"I was looking at your solar arc Jupiter from 12th conjunct asc age 4"
what does that mean?

Perhaps I am not the best person to explain this concept, since I don't use solar arcs often, but in the interest of providing you with a basic answer more quickly, I'll respond.

Solar arcs is a prediction technique that also often is used to check the accuracy of a chart. You calculate the Sun's speed at your time of birth or just use the estimate of 1 degree per day and "advance" the planets and angles forward by 1 degree for every year of life. It is particularly significant when planets in cadent houses (3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th) conjunct the angles (Ascendant, Nadir, Descendant, Midheaven) through solar arc progression. To use astrologer50's example, I would guess that Jupiter is in your twelfth house and four degrees from the Ascendant in your unrectified chart.

I get most of what your saying I think, astrology is a whole other language. But I'll figure it out, right now I'm reading up on conjunctions and that.
I have sun conjunct mars in Virgo, mercury conjunct Venus in Libra, moon conjunct Pluto in Scorpio (which i think is probably why I'm such a crazy person), Jupiter and Chiron conjunct ascendent (Cancer), Saturn conjunct uranus and Neptune in Capricorn.
I THINK these are positive? except for moon and Pluto...

"I was looking at your solar arc Jupiter from 12th conjunct asc age 4"
what does that mean?

Solar Arcs
Solar arcs are really simple, especially for beginners, just move the Angles, Asc, Desc, MC, IC 1' for each year of your life onto planets and vice versa. Not just used for rectification either. Under age 12 though these interpretations are directed towards family changes, maybe relocation, job changes, illnesses, additions to family etc. Another example is my Pluto is 28' Leo in 7th house and my Uranus is 3' Leo in same house to subtract these and you get age 25. That year my then husband and I had an almighty explosion (Uranus) and transformation (Pluto) of that marriage that started the demise and ultimate ending thereof....

Further research on solar arcs try these threads.

· Transiting Pluto square, conj opp Asc, Desc, MC, IC
· If under 12’ when it conj an Angle then their age was under age 12 it’s parents adjustments. A death, change within father’s work, a separation, remarriage.
· Adults or teens, 1st job, identity transformation MC.
· Pluto conj Desc = death, health concerns, geographic, significant relationship or break up, but has to be ‘life transforming’
· Also try transiting Neptune, something dissolving, disappearing, confusing etc.
· Timings of transits… is it the 1st hit? More often it’s the middle retrograde hit… but could be the last direct hit also. 1’ =4minutes in time.
