Hello,
Almost four years ago, I cut a friendship off due to wanting more than that person could give. At the time, I had feelings for a married man. However, when I told him how I felt and that I wanted more, he made the appropriate choice and stayed with his wife. I realized our friendship was not at all proper and not what I was ultimately after and as a result I severed ties. Our friendship was not fair to anyone involved and I knew I'd never be truly happy with a romantic partner of my own unless I made this decision.
A couple of weeks ago, he tried to contact me via social media, and I deleted the request. He then tried again on another site about a month later. I checked his profile for the first time in years at that point and found that his marriage ended.
I am not sure how I feel. I am afraid to open that door again. Why is he trying to contact me and are his feelings romantic or friendly?
I appreciate any insight. Thank you!
