The Battle of the Genders and Astrology

I was not sure where to post this thread, so I ended up in here.

I was thinking...Could the differences between men and women's ways of thinking have to do with spiritual evolution? I mean, it's well known that men use the left hemisphere of their brains more than the right, and women use the right more than the left. That makes men naturally inclined to logical reasoning and science, and women to intuitive-creative thinking. From this, a lot of masculine energy in her chart could make a woman become an ortodox scientist and a lot of feminine energy in a man's chart make him a sensitive artist.

As there are men who are intuitive besides logical, and women who are logical besides intuitive, I think these are the ones who are prone to become Astrologers, since Astrology is an art and a science at the same time. If this is right, then could these men and women be one step ahead in that evolutionary scale?

What do you think about this? Am I just being affected by Mercury Retrograde?

Your thread made me think how nice it is to live in a society where women's rights are respected(not everytime and not in all countries,I know)and prejudices are being broken.A few centuries ago,it must have been so hard for women to have predominant masculine energy in their chart, and, for men,to have lots of planets in feminine signs.Imagine all those Arian or Aquarian women being to force to act like sweet, quiet housewives who had to stay home, take care of the children and obey their man when all they really wanted was to break free, explore the world and live life the way they wanted!I'm sad to see that, altought women's value is certainly more recognized now than a few centuries ago,men are still not encouraged to develop their feminine side;while women are striving to achieve more and realize their professional goals and leave house cleaning for later, men are still not encouraged to cry when they feel like doing it or express their emotions.

A few months ago,I watched a very interesting program on TV about the differences in men's and women's brain. The way our brain works(if use more the left or the right side of our brain)is determined by the amount of testosterone we were exposed to in our mother's wombs(appearently, women have testosterone too,but in such small amounts that it isn't significant). We can determine how much testosterone we were exposed to by looking at our fingers;I can't really remember this part and I don't know each finger name in English, but, from what I can recall, according to the difference of the size of the finger next to the pinky finger and the middle finger, you can tell to how much testosterone the person was exposed to;the bigger the size difference, the more testosterone they were exposed.

I agree with you when you say astrology is a mix of science and art,but I believe certain planetary aspects/positions will show if someone is prone to become an astrologer or not(this si already being discussed in another thread).

I don't know if a predominance of feminine signs in a man's charts would make him use more the right hemisphere of the brain, but I would like to know if astrology has any envolvement with this type of things..Well,it sure has, astrology has to do not only with our personality but with our body as well;but can a predominance of masculine signs in a woman's chart make her use more the left side of her brain? Or are this things determined by nature?

Lissa,

I know exactly what show you are referring to because I caught the tail end of it! A specialist was given the hand prints of five or six people, and based upon the height of their index fingers, he was able to predict with astonishing accuracy in what order these individuals would place in a race without knowing any health or fitness information about them! I believe he only mixed up the third and fourth place winners, yet besides this minor error, he accurately predicted the outcome of the race.

This makes me wonder about the effect planetary energies have on a fetus developing in its mother's womb; if only we had the natal data of those who participated in this program, we could determine if those with higher levels of testosterone were born with a dignified or exalted Mars or had a large number of planets in masculine signs. I do not know much about palmistry, but I know that many fingers or certain mounds or lines on the palm are named after planets. I believe some research is in order!

P.S. I apologize for derailing your thread, Carole, but I really don't know the answer to this...

Can never resist these conversations... I'm sure I had "more" rather than less testosterone in the womb, because I shared the womb with my brother! The "gender" balance of planets in our charts is highly masculine.

Unfortunately though, we don't have exalted or dignified Mars(es, ho ho. What is the plural of Mars? :p ).

Yes, you are right about the testosterone levels we were exposed to when still in our mother's womb. Human beings are a compendium of so many wonders... Yes, Nature plays its role on this, no doubt. But then stars govern nature, don't they?

The mere idea of having lived during those times when women who were not naturally submissive were forced to give up on her dreams and freedom, gives me the goose bumps. It's hard enough to live nowadays, because even if we have won a few rounds in this absurd battle for equality, we, our ideas, our work and efforts are still belittled by this macho-inclined contemporary society of ours.

Our hands, the same as our feet, eyes, ears, our entire body show all the information we need to know about ourselves. If I am not wrong, that person you and Arian Maverick watched on that t.v. show was probably a Chirologist. We have the zodiac in our fingers (each part between the knuckles represents one of the zodiacal signs) and those of the thumb represent will, logic and love.

There is an ultra-interesting book titled "The Illustrated Textbook of Psychodiagnostic Chirology in Analysis and Therapy" by Arnold Holtzman, Ph.D. According to Dr. Arnold Holtzman's teachings, you can accurately spot psychological or physical problems by just analysing the hands of a person.

The difference in size of the fingers you were talking about, regarding the level of testosterone someone was exposed to before birth, reminded me of something I learned in that book: The difference between the ring finger and the index finger, is one of the indicators of sexual preference. I was amazed when I could test these theories on my friends and family's hands.

Arian Maverick:

If you want to learn about Palmistry, there is a good book that I can recommend for you to read: "Palmistry, The Language of The Hand" by Cheiro, the Palmist. It's a wonderful art, to read the hands.......And the apology wasn't necessary.;)

Hmm
May be is my feminine side too developed (Rising + NN + 8 planets in female signs), but I do talk about emotions, a lot, even with male friends...
So men have emotions and will express them, but in general more privately
And crying in public, i also think most men won't do that... But I can be wrong

It is speculated that a predominance of male/female energies is an imbalance associated with a past life. Perhaps you were unable to correctly express or display your emotions and now have the opportunity to do so. I believe it is a wonderful attribute for a man or any person for that matter, to be in touch with their emotional self. I continue to work at it.:)

I would like to think that we are moving to a place where we can express the gender differences in a positive manner. I still dont think that we are there yet. My personal experiences has been of an initial denial of gender bias and then an acknowledgement of the reality I lived in. I still think that a lot of interaction is subconcious and a true balance will comethrough exposing the subconcious negative traits.

In business women are denigrated for assertive aggressive behaviour where it is accepted behaviour for their fellow colleagues of a different gender.

I have a balance of elements which maybe has been tricky to work in reality. Fire Sun water moon and air ascendant and MH. I have both traits of left and right brained thinking within me yet the recpetion of the different ways of thinking and processing information by others is extremely variable.

I worked in a predominatly male environment doing the same work as men. It was difficult for some men to listen to my ideas and take direction in meetings even though it was expected in reverse. There was a complete misunderstanding and lack of awareness when I used right brained methods, more perceptive, and less logical. It has been very frustrating to find how to approach the situation so there is a win win. I believe there can be, an integration a balance. However maybe it is only possible when people become aware of some deep drivers in the personality.

I do think it is beneficial for both sexes to integrate left and right brained thinking. Psychological understanding makes it plain the advantages of each way of processing.

If you subscribe to past lives, and I get the idea that many on this forum entertain the idea, then we have lived both sides and probably for many times. With that in mind it would seem an appropriate stage of our evolution to work both sides. We can also go to the top and bottom of the brain and also the front and the back. All of these areas of the Brain have their tendencies. An integration of ALL these areas allows for a powerfull coming together of ability and prowess.

I think men and women have shown they can show and demonstrate the alternative genders traits. Why not a full empowerment.

I also had another thought are squares more masculine (expressive) in nature and trines more feminine (receptive).
