Medical Astrology Astrological diagnoses and other health issues are discussed here. Given that there are so many outer and inner influences on one's health (alimentation, sports, medication, past medical antecedents, state of mind, etc.), an astrological diagnosis is only one of many things to consider when determining your healthiness.

Major Illness. Pluto?

Hi to you all. I had originally posted this in "General" but was advised to move it over here. I had THOUGHT my Saturn Return was causing me a lot of grief, but a senior member or two pointed out that my SR hasn't even started yet (holy ****!) and that this looked more like a Pluto issue and to seek counsel from the medical astrology experts over yonder.

So, I throw myself on your mercy!!!

Since November 2009 I have been experiencing a terrible kind of "mystery illness" that no one can seem to diagnose (I've been to so many specialists). It started out as terrible fatigue, sleeping 18+ hours a day and grew into roving arthritis all over, extreme digestive issues, brain fog and confusion, hair loss, skin rashes, depression, anxiety, etc!

I ended up having to leave my job (which was actually OK because I decided I no longer want to pursue that career path of 10+ years and it was time for a change) and so am now at home, unemployed and working on some writing projects as I can. Though mostly, I still sleep a lot and sort of "putter around" the house.

I see an energy healer, and she has said that I'm operating on about 25% right now, and to just stop everything and focus entirely on getting better, self affirmation and self-care. So that is pretty much what I'm up to.

I just want to know...will this ever end? I am improved, my joint pain is better (localized to knees and elbows now instead of everywhere), I have started to do a bit of yoga and can go out sometimes with my partner for dinner without falling asleep at the table, and my hair has started to grow back. But I've still got a ways to go, and the mental confusion about 'what now?' is still pretty intense. I can't do much socializing and mostly just stay at home. I find loud noises or crowds deeply disturbing.

Before this happened I was such a get-up-and-go person. Traveled all around the world, was always socializing, swam 20 laps in the pool every morning before breakfast... now i feel like an old woman at just shy of 29! And am terrified that when Saturn Return starts it may near kill me!

Thanks for any wisdom you might be willing to share. At the very least, all this illness has awakened a real passion for Astrology and I'm trying to learn as much as I can and read as much as I can about it. It's pretty awesome stuff!

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Could you let us know what the medical doctors have said following their (hopefully extensive) medical examinations? Also, have the MD's ruled out parasitical disease conditions such as Lyme's disease?
(PS by Pauline profection to your 28th year, planetary ruler of year is Venus-this is disposited by its placement in the natal Sagittarius by Jupiter-and the natal Jupiter is in partile conjunction with the natal Pluto-so I would tend to concur with the basis of the condition being Plutonic in nature)

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Hi dr. farr,

No one could diagnose anything, other than a naturopath who said heavy metal poisoning. I did chelation for 3 rounds, but I reacted violently to it (vomiting, even more hair falling out and am impacted colon) so I stopped.
The rheumatologist I saw could find nothing, and I have been tested for lyme, ross river fever and other kinds of illnesses in that vein with no results.
The GP I saw was calling it "post viral" , along the lines of chronic fatigue, but after a while, I just gave up seeing any doctors because it was really expensive and no one could help me. They just gave me steroids or pain killers, which my body can't tolerate anyway.
I did have mono twice when I was around 17/18 and had an operation for endometriosis in 2008, so I do have a history with auto-immune. But no one was willing to paste that label on at this stage (and maybe that's a good thing!).

When the colon problems happened, I had bowel scans and many tests, and nothing came up unusual.

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Hi,

I also tend to agree that Pluto has been playing a key role in triggering this condition for one reason already mentioned by Dr Farr, and also owing to the fact that your natal Moon has been (still is) under its strong influence through its transit, as well as per the progressions. Since I also work with the nodes, I noted that the North node transited your 12th house (of mysterious/ not so easy to ascertain conditions; hospital stay, mental dilemma, sleep, etc) last year, so mental health and 12th plus 6th-house (physical sickness) related issues came into focus. Needless to say, the South Node was transiting your 6th house at the time. Another astrological factor that could have contributed to this is the transit of Neptune over your Asc. Uranus over your 1st house, though a long transit, did its bit in bringing about a sudden change in your life circumstances.

Btw, your Cap (bones, etc) Moon could make you generally vulnerable to stiffness of joints/ bones (I also tend to have this at times thanks to my Cap Moon, which, in my case, is also opposed by Sat). This Cap Moon (and the Moon is not best placed in Capricorn), in your case, also rules your 6th house (routine, also physical sickness). However, you have had Jup transiting your 1st house of general phyiscal constitution/ health this year, so it should bring about some respite.

I think that yoga (obviously in consultation with your GP) might be beneficial as is staying optimistic (your body is young with good recuperative powers.

Best,
AQ7

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Hello,
Interesting you have an aquar/ascendant/uran:Uranus: (All things that are strange)
Genetic disorders:
:Lupus
:Albino
Irregular chromasomes
Brain damage
:Cerebral Palsy
:Seizures
:Epilepsy
Deformities
Uranus=Spasmodic/rhythms are disrupted.

Sun/Mars aspects: sextile:
combination refers to to the inflammatory response, and the musclar activity which leads to heat production.
Sun/Nept: semi-square: contacts the vitality and immune resistance tend to be compromised. Anaemia maybe on result. Can lead to distrubed fluid balances in the cells. Allergies.
Sun/MC: Low self esteem, that leads to lowered resistance and susceptibility to illness.
Moon/Mars: Thyroid gland function/Grave's disease. Symptoms of Grave's: protruding eye's excessive sweating, nervousness, and palpitations.
Mer/Venus: relates to the nerve supply of the endocrine glands.
Mer/Mars: spastic paralysis, increased reflex action, irritablilty, of the nerves leading to involuntary twitching and tics, and inflammation of nervous tissue, also may have bilious diarrhoea and thirst.
Mer/Jupiter: Stay away from coffee, tea, cola drinks, and food additives, which have a irritant effect on the nervous system, areoften badly tolerated. These substances may not be processed adequatley by the liver, leading to sytemic nervous disturbances.
Mer/Sat: There can be an underfunctioning of the nervous system generally, but especially that part supplying the organs of speech and hearing. It is commonly found in cases of dyslexia and deafness. Also refers the the nerve supply to the skeletal system, and afflications may be linked with stiffness and deep dull pain in joints.
Mer/Nept: weak nerves, irrational fears, nerve paralysis, loss of consciousness, and a decreased ability to feel or sense. It is sometimes found myasthenia gravia, and autoimmune neuromusclar disorder whose name litterally means "serious muscle weakness" It is caused by antibodies that block nervous transmission to the muscles.
Mer/Pluto: applyies to nervous over stimulation, the metabolism of the nervous system, and the formation of new nervous tissue. It can be linked to obsessive-compulsive disorders and being trapped on the treadmill of terror-filled recurrent thoughts.
Ven/Jup: There may be excessive glandular secretions. especially of the female sex hormones. May lead to obesity. These people tend to be disinclined to take exercise.
Ven/Sat: There may be some malfunction in the secreation of hormones and slow-down or under-functioning of their regulatory system. Some glands may astrophy or enlarge to try to compendate for the low hormonal output as, for example, in a goitre.
Ven/Nept: There may be a weakened glandular function and lack of tone in the sex organs. Some glands may become enlarged, develope diffuse boundaries and release hormones when they are not needed.

This is just a few that I have listed for you, I will post more of your chart findings later on tomorrow. With all the glandular indications in your chart, I suspect you are having problems with your thyroid, and your adrenals, which regulate everything in your body.Just to prepare you my blood test for my low thryoid took 10 years to finaly show up as being low enough for Armour thyroid, however your adrenal gland need to be corrected before starting on a thyroid medicine, and by ready to fight for the right diganosed, if it doesn't show as low on a blood test 9 out of 10 family doctors will not start you on medicine, there are several websited that are free and you can take a test to see how many of the symptoms you have for hypothryodism, I have 29 out 30 systems, and took it to my fdoc and he still refused to put me on medicine, so I ended up having to go to a MD who practices in alternative medice and by insurance would not cover the visit nor the test. My mother has the same diagnoses and she has to pay 300.00 a visit to see the doctor who finally after 25 years of suffering put her on Armour Thyroid. You need to get on a very good multi-vitamin, and make sure you are taking a super vitamin B supplement! Make sure you have plenty of vitamin D also, helps with the depression, and let plenty of natural light into your home, do not allow yourself to sit in your bedroom once you have finally gotten up, this act alone contributes to going back to sleep. I have been tring to fix mine for nearly 8 years now, and still no one has really found an name for what I have, but I share many of the same aspects you do and many of the same symptoms you have metioned. There is some hope out there, just takes alot of not letting others tell you how you are feeling. Only you can demand and recieve the help you deserve! More Tomorrow!

Reading this and before seeing your chart, it seemed to have all the qualifications of the long-term Saturn-Uranus opposition across Virgo-Pisces that occured during different periods over 2008/2009. Your chart shows Uranus as ruler of your Ascendant and 1st house, that is associated with the physical constitution. This would be of mentality in an air sign.
Physical symptons arise when any 'inner disorder' can no longer be contained, meaning that the churning inside has been going on for quite a while beforehand. Physicians can find nothing organically wrong with you. Could it therefore be something 'on/in the mind', 'in your head' (Mars square Uranus) that you haven't yet completely dealt with? 2009 also saw your progressed Moon return. Childhood behind you, Capricorn maturity setting in. 'Homesick' for something now gone?

Transit Saturn-Uranus across the 1st and 7th houses alternatively squared your Venus-Neptune conjunction in Sagittarius, whilst progressed Mars, still in 7th, is now squaring natal Neptune.
What's your attitude regarding your relationship? Has Saturn been rather heavy in showing you a reality difficult to accept that Uranus may have to change?
What has occured that has made you want to 'pull out your hair' in frustration, made you proverbally 'sick and tired' of a situation, that you 'don't want to think about but forget', don't/didn't want to see changed that did, and nothing you can do can help??????

You're an 8th house Scorpio Sun, with Pluto also in the 8th house. You may express a strong inner desire to, but cannot always outwardly control everything in the world about you. A Moon in Capricorn is also controlling. Yet it can also have difficulty expressing emotions outwardly, whereby everything is kept inside and has only one place to go.....into the body (Moon rules 6th house of physical disorders).

Transit Pluto has been overwhelming your feelings. Let it be in a positive way by destroying any dams you have built up inside. Let it all out.
Transit Neptune is sitting on your Ascendant square Uranus. The truth can set your free?

My 2 cents.

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

I would highly recommend also having your natal chart done with a draconic version also, this is also helpful with identify health issues. I hope some of this will help you, and hopefully give you some answers! Dana

ok to continue:
Ven/Pluto: has to with ovulaton.
Mars/Uran: concerned with the rhythm of muscle contractions and lenghening, both muscles like those of the heart and gut, and those under voluntary control like the large muscles used in locomotion. when the process is distrupted there can be jerky movements, pains, and cramps, from sudden musclar spasm, or ruptures and wounds.
Mars/Asc: this could be linked with surgical operations andd accidents, specially burns and head injuries.
Mars/MC: Reinhold Ebdertin relates this aspect to the regulation of body temperature, fever, and the functions of the muscles under voluntary control. [Hypothryoidism: a symptom that is a good indication of having it, is a low body temperature of 98.1 degrees F or lower, (mine is normlly 96.4 degrees F and has been now for several years) for 14 days or more in a row, take temperture at noon everyday for 14 days and record your results, if it is for 14 days in a row, request a blood test(thyroid panel) and make sure that the blood tests are testing for T-3 and T-4 levels!!!!)

Jup/Sat: This combination is connected with under-functioning of the liver, which may also be smaller than normal. the metabolism is slowed down(also with Hypothyroism) and there is a tendency to gall bladdeer and liver problems(I have had my gall bladder removed and have pains in my lower right side when my liver is also), including cirrhosis of the liver. There may be hardening of the arteries, associated with high blood pressure(I too have high blood pressure) Also leads to depression, pessimism. thi can be an underlying factor in a wide variety of chronic disorders.
Jupiter/Nept: Because the walls of the small arteries may be more permeable than normal, fluid can leak out, producing waterlogged tissues(I also suffer from edema in my legs, feet , and ankles). The metabolism is also weak, so that food particles are not broken down properly. This results in fermentation, gas production(many with bad gall bladders will be very very very gas bound and bloat). Wrong diagnoises are common as these problems are often of psychological origin. There can be fatty diarrhoea or clay-colored stools that float!

Jup/Pluto: can be linked with excessive weight gain.
Sat/Uran: Tears and breaks in the hard tissues of the body, such as the bones, joints, skin, an teeth. There may be skin eruptions that appear suddenly, usually due to shock.
Sat/Pluto: Waste products may not be elimainated, which can lead to potentially serious autointoxication(self-poisoning). Psychologically these people can suffer from severe depression.
Sat/Asc: Skin problems, chronic middle ear problems or hereditary shortsightedness.
Sat/MC: Ego-related mental disorders.
Uran/Asc: There is a high degree of nervous strain involved in these aspects, which can lead to a breakdown in health, if not channelled in some constructive way.

Nept/Plut: represents a single minded determination to survive.
Nept/Asc: physical or emtionally being effected by polluted atmosphere will have a detrimental effect on health.

The degree of the Signs: and or they're opposite signs:
[comes from the work by Elsbeth and Reinhold Ebertin]

20 degrees of Taur: Occiput (Goitre)
25 degrees of can: Blood vessels of digestive organs
29 degrees of Can: Spleen (Bronchitis)
29 degrees of Cap: Left genicular arteries.
16 degrees of Libr: Renal arteries
20 degrees of Libr: Calyx minor
24 degrees of Libr: Blood vessels of renal cortex
09 degrees of Scorp: vagina (alcoholism)

Sun in scorp: breast, heart
Moon in Cap: knees, kidneys thighs
Mer/Lib: throat, stomach, belly
Ven/Sag: shoulders, arms, sex organs,
Mars/Virgo: kidneys,knees
Jupiter/Lib: sex organs, legs, head
Sat/Lib: knees, thighs

29 degrees of Scorp: Vomer (sight)
03 degrees of Cap: Cutaneous nerves of thigh

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Thanks Dana, very thorough! Yes, I have a lot of issues with the areas you pointed out. Skin, bones, liver (weakened from childhood illness) and becoming easily toxic and overwrought with anxiety and depression. I had an impacted colon- suddenly and with no warning earlier this year and it was because I did chelation therapy to help with a metals issue, and my liver couldn't process all the toxins out quickly, and so it created a massive intestinal blockage. Very bad experience... The adrenal thing is also true... I've been working on improving sleep patterns, getting more sun and trying to use yoga to help with stress levels. I also stopped eating sugar and starchy foods because my liver can't process it and it ends up making me just fall asleep in a pre-diabetic sort of reaction...

Frisangal, Yes, Saturn has been very heavy handed about my relationship- casting light again and again on the fact that my fiance is severely bogged down in baggage from his past marriage (he has 2 teenage daughters who do not accept me and are constantly asking him to choose me or them- which is greatly encouraged by his ex wife who is an alcoholic and mentally ill). It's a huge amount of baggage that directly impacts on the quality of my life and I have recently had to ask him if he is really wanting a future with me, or if he will prefer to wallow in the misery of his situation- because I can no longer do so. I want to move on to happier times, and he needs to seek professional assistance in dealing with his pain and troubled relationships rather than bringing into our shared life together so frequently. It's a HUGE issue and one which, if he can't find some help for, may mean the end of our relationship because I can't stay in this environment of guilt and grief and fear of the future any longer.... He's a Taurus and confronting his pain is EXTREMELY difficult for him. He just clams up and becomes depressed and defeated- almost like he's already given up and is waiting for me to leave him too.

Dear Violet:
Listen, I'm sort of new around here and although I've been studying/practicing astrology for many years now, I am totally humbled by the astrologers here so I can't list any more astrological natal proof than what already has been listed but I second what Dana said about possible Hypothyroidism. Your symptoms sound exactly like mine. If your MD hasn't done so yet it's just a matter of a simple blood test.
I hope you get to feelin better soon!

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Caprising: Yes, yes, yes. It has felt like "everything" is happening all at once- having an effect on my emotional response body as well as my physical and practical minded one. One thing about what has been going on is the "brain fog" which prohibits my practical-mindedness from being of any use!

And you're right that I can see the perfect relationship and I do believe you are right in that I will need to be seeking that one out in another dimension!

I cannot believe this is all being compounded by SR.... Every DAY, something new comes up. 3 days ago it was having children, 2 days ago it was moving to the UK, yesterday it was moving to America, today???? I truly feel like i am in a tornado! And my physical body immediately reacts to all of this stuff.

I put the screws to my partner and told him that the kids will come and go from our lives as they grow older, but that we will always have each other- as long as each of us can also take responsibility for our own baggage. We can offer support, but I can't be RESPONSIBLE for it.... I see a therapist and I suggested that he does too- for HIM. So he can get some outside perspective and tools for dealing with it.

I still think the relationship will go forward, I just think that some big choices and major 'housekeeping' had to be done before we could say our "I do's". The era of our relationship where i take on his emotional burdens has to end (and that is my responsibility as well).

I am certainly though, feeling the need to travel in the next year or so, and we are talking about spending part of our time here and part of our time in the USA so that I can be with my own people part of the year and have my own support groups and friends.

I'm also working away as I can on my first novel, the ability to do so comes and goes depending on how "crazy" I feel on any given day, but it seems important also to me in all of this to keep pursuing my own dreams and creative outlets.

Oh yeah, i'm in South Australia :-)

thanks!!
-Violet.
p.s. Good idea about the pre-marital counselling serafin.

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Haha, funny what you say about enjoying music and films better with "Neptune Fog". That is certainly true... I went to Office Works the other day and it was like being in a Rainbow Fairy land. I just walked around for about an hour looking at paper and pens and touching every thing on the shelves!! I do not drive at this point unless I have to, and often my partner literally has to re-direct me when we are walking so that I go in the right direction because I am just so "spaced out" (Nep-TUNED out??) that I get very easily lost in simple activities. I think most people assume I am high- even though I don't do or take any kind of drugs!

I did a bit of reading and my Chiron/Taurus in 3rd seems fairly typical. I was unable to go to a top University I got accepted into because it was too expensive, and I had to leave University after less than 1 year to get a job when the family home burned down. I have always had some insecurities about my lack of formal education. I have a lot of insecurities about how other people perceive me because of this. Additionally, my younger sister has flunked out of school more times than I can count, but my parents keep paying for her to go back, but never allowed that for me.

I was looking at my chart and being a Scorpio with a concentration of planets in the 8th, perhaps it is to be expected that I will seek transformation in any way possible- even a major illness that stopped me in my tracks. It HAS changed a heck of a lot about how I live my life and see myself (continues to do so in a rapid-fire way) because I am a person who says, "why am I suffering? What is the opportunity here to learn?" (although I went through a good dose of anger and depression before I got to that point in this case, and I feel very lucky that the intestinal disturbances and major joint pain have eased up).

Funny, just in the past week with all the stuff going on with my partner's family have I started to feel that I really need to spend more time back in the Northern Hemisphere. It would be interesting to study whether or not i feel any physical differences. It was a trip to the Northern Hemisphere (Frankfurt and London) last year in October that tipped this all off. My illness started when I got back...

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

[QUOTE=Caprising;235088] Your sun is on about 8 degrees, (only for a little while longer), I have found this (8 degrees gemini/sagg) to be a very spiritual degree, in either sign. Don't be too suprised if you start getting "intuition" or spiritual phenomena happening ocasionally!

Yeah...interesting you should say that. I've always had a bit of the psychic in me, and over the past couple of weeks especially it has started to open up again. I intentionally 'shut it down' back around the year 2001, because there was SO MUCH going on inter-dimensionally at that time that I freaked out. I was seeing too much, all the time and nearly had a nervous breakdown. Yes, I was living in NY at the time of 9/11 and yes, I sure did see a lot of inter-dimensional beings at that time... I was followed for years by a negative entity that attached itself to me because I was using my abilities without a good intent, (very naughty!) and so invited all KINDS of ego-feeding nasties in. Learned my lesson good though!

I've been reading the Telos books over the past month and find them very interesting. I've noticed that my 3rd eye has been going buzzy buzzy again a lot lately- and I'm not terrified of it this time either.

I reckon if I could just get past the self-loathing state I seem to be in lately, find a better place of acceptance of self and life experience in general, I'd clear up my illness once and for all. I'm walking through a house of mirrors lately, and I defy anyone who says that is a picnic. I am always seeking idealism- and continually disappointed when I don't find it on this earth plane. I reckon if I could find the acceptance within myself that I need to get to at this juncture in my life, I could heal myself rather quickly.

S.A.(relocated) gives you mercury conjunct the ascendant, probably one of the 2 best positions for a writer i.m.o.

Well, hey! Some good news! I always want to be in the UK, and feel strangely drawn to New Mexico, though I have never been there! I have been in Adelaide for 4 years now, and this is the longest I have ever been ANYWHERE (and the longest relationship too I might add).

In Astrological terms, what do the knees and elbows represent? Are they covered by any particular sign? I just got a copy of a Robert Hand book in the mail today which I intend to study. I like his style. I've also recently pulled out my tarot decks again. I used to have quite the talent for reading them- but put them away back in 2001 when the world got too freaky

I also just got a copy of a Liz Greene book about Saturn that I will delve into.
Hope you are having some nice weather in Victoria! Still cold over here!

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Hello, Knees are represented by Cap, and elbows I believe is Gemini. You talk about having your third eye activated again, what do you know about visions of the "right foot and boots?" I have had this happen to me several times in the last three years where the "right foot" and or a "boot" would show in my third eye? Also do you happen to know what it means when your ears won't stop itching? I have heard that this is when your Angel guides are tring to talk to you? thanks Dana

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Hi Dana,
Feet are supposed to relate to things we hold on to, or emotional "soreness" from my experience. And so if you are getting a "foot or boot" image, it may have to do with some kind of emotional blockage or need for release.

Ears itching is an interesting one. I actually have that problem, and always have, and it drives me insane, because it is really irritating! I'd never heard anything about "angel chatter" though. I just have to be very careful not to let water stay in my ears after bathing and to clean them out every morning with a Q-tip!

If you had a specific 3rd-eye question, PM me and I will try to help. I have a lot of experience with everything that can go WRONG in that area...as I've had to learn through the mistakes that I made how to start getting some of it right...and it's taken me about 20 years! I would say though, that a lot of it is highly personal to the individual. So much of it has to be learned by you and you alone, or if you are feeling a particular method or message is "correct" for you, then it probably is!

Cap: good advice about the B vitamins. I need to remember to take mine more regularly. And I know that caffeine can be a problem, but why get up in the morning if you can't have that piping hot cup??! I need a reason to pull me out of my cozy warm bed!

Are Capricorn aspect people more likely to have health issues than others?
5! Yuck! It was 2 early one morning here this past winter. Also very heavy rains- which it is doing right now i might add...

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

I'm sure these issues came up in the responses....but to reiterate:
It looks very much to me like your body was suffering from toxic overload.
The adrenals were most likely exhausted, and food allergy sounds like a likely culprit by the sound of many of the symptoms.
Getting on a wholefood regiment....with plenty of rest, exercize etc....(de-stress), meditation and generally taking care of yourself, I feel, would be a good course of action for the rest of your life.
Also simplifying your life would probably add to your well being....sounds like WAY too much stimulation.
Best wishes.
kz.

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Your symptoms sound like lupus.... But your docs did the lupus tests and so on? There are some viruses, bacterias that can turn your body autoimmune against itself. Hope this passes though!

One year I had some similar symptoms like stomach problems, pain in joints and back and feeling tired. When I changed country of residence to study abroad the symptoms suddenly disappeared. I think it might have something to do with stress or something...

Re: Major Illness. Pluto?

Thanks Kuntz and Vagabond. Kuntz- that is pretty much the "treatment" plan I put myself on a couple of months ago. Left my job and everything just to deal with having a more relaxed lifestyle that could focus on well being. So far, so good!
