This could be somewhat dire: On Feb. 13, next year, :uranus:, Lord of the impending Aquarian Age, apparently ensconced in down-to-Earth Taurus, will have Retrograded back into Aries, then gone Dir. into exact Conjunction with Mars Dir. In Aries. :w00t:

Jupiter in Scorp and Neptune in Pisces are still in nearly exact Trine at 15 degrees. The Moon will Conjunct Jupiter at 5:00 A.M. (PDT) tomorrow morning (Aug. 17, PDT).

Psychology developed as a way to explain psycho-pathology without attributing it to being demon-possessed. Now, most of them just prescribe mind-numbing medication.

Psychoanalysis, sure. Only psychiatrists are allowed to prescribe medication. Not all psychology professionals get to dispense mind-numbing drugs so no need to demonise an entire field for the sins of one subset of practitioners.

It really has gone in that direction though. Psychologists are able to get psychiatrists to sign off on meds, after which they can prescribe them. My impression (could be wrong) is that the real subset is that of practitioners who really ARE doing the difficult work of getting to the root of psychological problems. Btw, not sure what Nietzsche meant by "idleness" in this context. Maybe you can explain it.

All I can give you is my interpretation. First, I was struck by the quote because of its astrological significance, I doubt I would have paid much attention to it otherwise. When one isn't engaged in any industry or action of consequence, the mind redounds on itself and begins to be occupied with itself - thus starting the process of observing the mind and soul - or your psychology. Not outwardly doing anything clears the space to do more inwardly - and with the 8th house's archaic name as idle - can be construed positively as a place of stillness/quiet where what occurs on the inner takes on more importance than mere outward achievement, and the process of "knowing thyself" begins. This can be extrapolated to the investigation of how the wider psychology/inner world of man operates and thus one begins to look at how the soul of man is constituted.

I didn't take it the idleness as being the start of modern psychoanalysis and psychology as a branch of study all of its own. I took it as being important in the dawning of the psychological process itself.

Yes, astrologers specialise in not having anything else in their life to focus their attention on.

And its not like the moderns don't put astrology as being relevant to the 8th house

I seem to use Astrology as a sort of lens I can use to focus on everything else. But I do feel as though I'm in "idle" mode when I'm actually delving deeply into it.

There's something harmonious about the current, although temporary, nearly exact Trine between Saturn, secure in its Domicile-sign Capricorn, and :uranus: secure in the Sign it Regulates, Taurus. The two warring Age-Lords are talking instead of fighting.

I was thinking about what planets rule certain animals.

I think Uranus rules squirrels. Ha.

Jupiter rules dogs, I’m pretty sure.

Neptune rules fish.

I wonder what rules birds?

Here's one for fun--there's an old saying, "That'll happen when pigs fly!"
But, with genetic mutation making progress(?), some genetics laboratory might decide to create a pig with wings. Turns out, the Genus of the pig species is the word "Sus". So, an appropriate name for the newly developed creatures: PIGASUS. Somehow a horse named Pegasus was born with wings, but that was probably a natural mutation.
Pegasus rates an entire constellation, but if pigs do begin flying, Pigasus might at least get an asteroid.

I'm personally changing the label "Traditional" Astrology to "Ancient Technique" Astrology. Makes more sense. Then there's "Modern" Astrology, which can be, and often is, a lot different from the Ancient Technique versions, but is still rooted in Astrological tradition. "Pure Ancient Technique" Astrology is the label for Astrology that avoids ANYTHING modern except for computer-generated charts, and modern Astronomical star-charts and ephemerides. "Ancient Technique" Astrology could contain a small amount of modern input, such as a limited usage of the outermost Planets.
