Saturn square saturn

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone knew the effects of the infamous saturn square saturn at the age of 21 yrs. What does this signal and what experiences have people had when they went through this period?

My saturn is in sagittarious in 7th and also rules the 9th and 10th house. My saturn square saturn period is starting on the 28th March. I'm quite nervous since this is my final year of university! Is it a time of set-backs and disappointments? Talking of which, i've just suffered a major set-back in my career, right before this time starts. What more is in store for me?

Star2858, you have a career and you are going to University as well?

Your natal Saturn is technically in the 8th house (less then 5° away from the 8th house cusp). and squares your Sun, Mars and a bit wider, your Venus. This in itself is a difficult aspect because your selfexpression (Sun) is probably quite hampered by the limitations that Saturn puts on you. Duty is leaning heavily on you and could smother your creative energy. It seems to me that you have a difficult life generally speaking with an intercepted Moon in your 12th house where clearly your emotional expression is stuck, also underlined by the square from Saturn to Venus. Moon rules your 4th house of early upbringing so these restrictive feelings result from how you were treated when you were young. You are a highly sensitive person.

Transiting Saturn not only squares your natal Saturn, but also conjuncts the 3 planets in your 5th house and puts therefore extra pressure (workload) on you. If you have a career and also have to finish university, well, I can imagine how hard that must be for you and how much work is awaiting you.

The transit of Saturn over your Sun could make you feel physically very tired and you must take care not to overdo it. With the ruler of your 1st house in the 6th, you tend to overdo it in your work. Venus also co-rules your 6th house of work and health so these two things are very much existing next to each other. Your work can make you ill or you could feel unwell if you dont work! So if you ask me what more can happen to you, then I would think that your health could be affected if you dont try to find some balance. Try to find a way to relax.

Saturn trines your Moon exactly in your chart and I think that you will finish University well. You have tremendous workinput and can probably go on forever (Pluto in Scorpio in 6 opposed to Jupiter ), but I must warn you for burnout. It would be a pity if after so much work, that would happen.

I study law and everything you do at university effectively 'makes' your career, this is due to the highly competitive nature of things. I have found my time at university to be more like a full-time job. There was little fun and mostly work. Or maybe i am just a workoholic (high virgo presence)

Saturn square Saturn from 5th to 7th, Saturn rules 9th so you will have to buckle down and study I guess, discipline required re socialising, entertainments and as Sagittarius is also involved, college friendships of long standing are a concern. Also those you relate to on one to one basis. Counselling, debate and especially with those in authority. THere can be parental issues as well involved. Saturn is conjuncting Venus in the 5th which can mean a serious love affair or a feeling of restriction in this area. It is an overall time of being responsibile and mature. Basically being an adult and these transits are meant to give us a chance to mature and a feeling of having to face certain realities which is not always easy. Saturn is the planet of sowing what you reap and is karmic in that sense. The rewards for your hard work will come when you have a more flowing Saturn contact.

Yes I see the legal work with Sagittarius and also the 7th is the house of legalities but more mediation and accord such as the lower court system deals with. Whereas Sagittarius and 9th deal with higher law, judiciary and such as the Superior Court system.

I would also be very careful re procreation and having a child at this time can be a disaster.

Hard work ahead!!

I wish you luck

:)

I agree with both you and Starlink!

I have a lot of studying to do. I think Saturn is going to bring me down to earth. I am planning on taking a year out before taking the legal practice course, and will probably be working in retail, fast food due to the recession.

This is going to be a difficult time, especially since Saturn is all in the 'career' parts of my chart and i know that hard work and responsibility is only going to get me through it all.

And my friends are a concern at the moment, or the lack thereof due to my constant studying (i am a workoholic).

No kids or partner yet i'm afraid!

I found this thread to be very enlightning. I am was born only a few days after you! I can relate with what you are feeling: I am also in my last year of university.

I remember my saturn opposition being particularly harsh. I remember thinking "The square can't possibly be worse than what I went through when I was 14!"

I think the challenge teaches you to take responsability for your actions. It's the aspect that makes you go: I guess I am an adult now!" No turning point now.

Claire is right: Saturn is all about the hard work that goes before getting the rewards. Which seems true to our situation.

I wish you luck.

My Saturn is already transiting my 6th house, it will conjunct Mars (hard work ahead) and square Saturn (more hard work...:p) in the 9th at the same time and a few months later it goes into my 7th and conjunct Venus and Mercury. I'm getting ready for the worst!

Gosh, i feel exactly like you are! I think i'm going through saturn in 7th opposite uranus in 8th. Just lost out on a scholarship which i deserved. Crushing defeat and feelings of depression.

I have a lot of hard work ahead like you do. When i was 14, i remember getting great marks at school and for some reason or other, my friends and peers at school turned against me in a heat of jealousy.

I wonder whether i'lll face anything like that...people turning against me. Though i am having a few issues with friends and things like that at the moment.

I think this saturn square will be quite depressing for me - sun square saturn natally. Relationships are not good either at the moment, saturn is in the 7th/8th so far.

Career plans going sluggish due to recession - saturn rules 9th (for law) and 10th house.

Thanks for your feedback Star. About relationships, that is also indicated by the natal chart where the (traditional) ruler Mars is squared by Saturn (and getting it again now!) and modern ruler Pluto opposed to the ruler of the 8th house Jupiter who is in the house of hidden enemies. Now the 2nd house from the 8th shows the support you get from others. And with that opposition from a Jupiter retrograde in a critical degree and also intercepted, that will be difficult to get.

Transiting Neptune is exactly squaring your Ascendant at the moment and it is in the house of your hopes and wishes so maybe that attributed also to the big disappointment you got by not getting the scholarship.

Venus is being opposed ingoing, by Uranus and could cause distance in relationships. No, you are not having an easy time at the moment and I wish you much luck with your studies/career for the time to come.

Cheers, Starlink

You're absolutely right Starlink. If only i knew about the neptune square before, then i could have been prepared for the disappointment. It was so unjust that was but anyway.

Things are hard right now and as you have probably seen by the high Virgo presence, i am worrying a lot. Anxiety levels are high and depression is also incoming. Trying not to down it all with alcohol but i know i have to be strong for the hard work i got coming up for me as regards exams in May.

I'm not getting any support and as usual i am all alone in my constant struggles in career etc. Never really had it big with friends ever before anyway.

Thanks,

and depression is also incoming

Star, with your Virgo Sun and as ruler of your 6th house of health in Libra, you must be able to balance things out a bit. Virgo is always very health orientated, so I would think about finding some stress releasing exercise to beat the blues!! I am sure you can do it! Ever thought of deepsea diving? That can take you away from all your troubles. I speak from experience! but of course I dont know if you can do that where you are.

I can't imagine how hard it must be managing a career and going to school at the same time. I'm doing school full time and I feel like I'm going crazy already.

I also have sun square saturn natallaly. Hang in there! In a few months this will all be over. I remember last year I used to cry every day --whenever I woke up, I couldn't understand why so many bad things were happening to me. Now I've kept it down to once a week. Soon there'll be no crying. :)

Saturn loves to bring in setbacks: I found out the other day that I probably won't graduate this semester because I'm missing two credits! Of course it's still not the final word but I only have two options: both which will involve a lot of work in a short amount of time.

About relationships, that's probably Saturn rocking the 7th. How did that work out for you? I'm in a committed relationship and I'm scared to death of this transit. Luckily, I have roughly 8 months to prepare for it.

Hi Fleetingdasein, I also understood it this way but apparently Star2858 sees her studies as her career because the one will lead to the other. For now she is only studying:) Have a look at her post in answer to me.

Cheers, Starlink

I see! Silly me. Pisces Rising here. I'm the kind of person that forgets what she's saying mid-sentence.

I have a friend who is also going through this transit, but she's working and going to school at the same time. I don't have an accurate birth time ---I wish I did. She failed every course last semester and now it is gonna take even longer for her to graduate. It would be interesting to see which houses her saturn was hitting up.

Because there's really two ways to face Saturn: you take the easy way out and what you've worked so hard for all of this time goes to the gutter, or you face it, spend a few months in relative "misery" and reap your rewards in graduation day! :)

I agree completely with the effect of a saturn transit. It is making me depressed and i do cry. Life is really hard at the moment, late nights and hard work combined with stress. Let alone friends, i have no relationships. I haven't been with anyone all throughout university. Studying law taknig up all my time.

I think this year has been more depressing for me, just because i've been dogged with bad luck in advocacy competitions etc etc.

Saturn brings delays. I have to take a yr out next year to earn money to pay for the legal practice course, this was something i wasn't initially going to do.

Saturn in the 7th - bad luck in men. What more do i say?

I tend to be a workoholic. I used to enjoy swimming when i used to have a social life, come to think of it!

London is the most dreary place to be right now, things are are so dismal.
