Hello all and 1 quick question...

If you had to pick 1 book for a beginner astrologer, what book would that be? I love hardcopy books, for me reading online just isn't the same.

I'm excited to hear from you! Please feel free to add anything else to open up dialogue. I'm up for some interesting conversation!

For modern western astrology, Stephen Forrest, The Inner Sky, followed by Robert Hand, Planets in Youth (a cookbook after you've got the concept, good for people of all ages.)

If you'd rather start with traditional western astrology, the Avelar and Rebeiro book is good.

I think all of these are available at on-line book-sellers.

Hi VM, welcome

If you are a beginner, best thingis to go downthe library or local bookstore and look at the books, leaf throug, and see if they speak to you.

My first astrology book at 13 years old was Linda Goodmans sun signs...it got me hooked, though that is in the realms of the slightly mystical but a lovely read with alot of intuition etc

My first book I bought to study it properly was Jeff Mayo, Teach Yourself Astrology, then I did a correspondence course with the Mayo School

A solid book which doesnt go over your head

I loved it

Good Luck

Even though the name is a put off... I would recommend Astrology for Dummies. It covers the basics and introduces concepts like term and receptions. It is more of a how to book and not a recipe book.

Astrology for Dummies sales.

Wow, there are some cheap used copies out there.

I have recommend this also. However there are two versions with two different astrologers. I like the older one better than the newer one.

Thank you both! I'd guess this book breaks things down quite well.

I've spent some time with my natal chart and found researching your own chart is the best teacher! I'm hooked.

For traditional astrology, I found William Lilly, his books are also very organized and easy to read.

I also like Ptolemy's dignity table a lot, you can always stick this table on the wall!!!!

I suggest you to explore both traditional and modern astrology. Eventually you may find them work very well together and speak the same messages. In advance modern astrology, there are some interesting works being done in Harmonic, which might be equivalent to Vedic divisional charts. It will be up to you to pick which school of astrology to use. I personally like to explore them all and see how they work.
