I think this news that is occurring now is proper for the thread to remind us that words count. Right now, this week alone; at the very least, (and these are only the ones reported) crimes against Asian Americans are way way up. For example, in 2019 there were 3 reported hate crimes against Asians, this year alone, (and we are only in the end of February), there are well over 28 known hate crimes.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/26/nyregion/asian-hate-crimes-attacks-ny.html

They appear to be random. Sometimes accompanied by the words, "Corona-Virus" as though they are responsible for that virus which is as ridiculous to believe; as it sounds.

One man the other day, in his 30s was stabbed in the back and is now in critical condition. I suppose if his liver gives way (his liver was damaged) it will become the first "reported" NYC Asian reported hate crime changed to murder with intent.

In Brooklyn - there were 4 more stabbings just the other day -

I'm often reminded NOW more then ever, country wide of the late Rodney King, as he asked in pain, "Can't we all just get along"? during the Los Angeles Riots a few decades ago.
(His Jupiter's aspects are quite telling imo)

“I’ve never cried like that before,” Ms. Cheng said, describing her reaction to security footage that showed her mother being shoved to the ground last week on a crowded street in Flushing, Queens. “To see my mother get thrown like that, she looks like a feather. She looks like a rag doll.”
President Donald J. Trump, who frequently used racist language to refer to the coronavirus.

AND just as I thought -
activists and police officials say many additional incidents were not classified as hate crimes or went unreported.

Re: Free speech vs derogatory comments

In 2020 and now 2021, we had so much hate crime incidents against Blacks over the BLM movement, Asians due to the COVID pandemic, Hispanics from the issue of undocumented immigration, Muslims still in a country where 9-11 is still fresh in our minds, Gays and transgender people because they are supposedly more accepted, and even my own Native Americans when "these poor people are having casino checks in the mail" can lead to "white anger" against anyone they learned is a Native American (I'm not a tribal member), and may I add Jews are still targets of hate crimes of religious or ethnic hatred.

Oddity said:
Why do you believe the US is systemically racist or that all white people are racist? Does this include those of us who are Jewish (regardless of not actually being white) and Asians now considered to be white people because of 'interracial whiteness' (read: because we're generally sucessful?)

I thought East and South Asians (includes Pacific Islanders) are different anatomical races than whites, Europeans or Caucasians. They had a history of racism against them like the 1880s Chinese exclusion act, colonialism of the Philippines under US territory rule, 1900-46; and internment of almost the whole Japanese population of the US west coast during WW2. And because of previous historic experience, Asian-Americans still feel they're not "lily" white.

Re: Free speech vs derogatory comments

Actually anthropologists have given up talking about race as a verifiable category of human beings. The actual racial differences between human beings are minimal at the DNA level. They do talk about how some ethnic groups become "racialized" as in becoming negatively stereotyped.

The US census, not so much. It still asks people to identify their race, although it has categories for more than one race or "other."

Re: this forum, though, the point is that comments can be highly prejudiced in ignoring documented discrimination against groups of people on the basis of these racialized stereotypes.

A big problem, Oddity, is in a white guy overlooking how African Americans experience law enforcement differently than you do.

As a middle class white mother of two children, I never thought to warn them about how to behave if they were stopped by the police. But please read the NPR article I cited in my previous post. Just because I haven't experienced problems with law enforcement doesn't mean that nobody else has-- especially young African American men who are simply seen as "out of place" in situations that seem normal or harmless to folks like us.

We see many examples of this in US current events.

What about hate crimes against White people? Do they count?

Is this something that happens a lot?

White gays are regularly attacked physically, but it's not because they're White.

Mike Pence was threatened with lynching, but it wasn't for being White.

Do you know how many hate-crimes the Jewish people receive every year?

Do you know how many hate-crimes & brutal attacks the Trump supporters have received?

Or white people? Or conservatives?

Once again, you are turning this thread into another Trump-Hate posting.

The virus DID come from China. IF people are so ignorant to attack asian people that's ON THEM & their own ignorance.
You are now blaming Trump for their stupidity?:andy::andy::andy:

Will the 'blame-game' never stop?

Cuomo (pre-meditated murder charge likely in his future for killing over 10,000 elderly people) called it the 'European Virus'. Pelosi/Xiden called Trump racist for shutting down border to China at end of Jan/20.

WHO/MSM/Faucci ALL conspired to protect China & their lack of transparency & to blame everything on Trump

AND....

did you look at the recent stats on black-on-black crime in Dem run cities?
Hundreds killing in criminal gang shootings & innocent children killed too.
Now, that is 'sad' & tragic & that is what needs to be addressed within the Dem Party, not this never-ending attack on Trump.

Easier to point the finger than look at yourself because then you don't have to change.

A Grim—and Ignored—Body Count
The problem in the American inner city is not racism but drive-by shootings of blacks by other blacks.

I'm blaming the bats for Covid-19.

The Black Plague in medieval Europe has been blamed on rats.

Btw, the Spanish Flu did not originate in Spain. It originated in the U.S.

I blame the drive-bys on a combination of the so-called "War on Drugs" and poverty zones.

Yes, the corrupt media & Dems are now compiling 'lists' of Trump supporters.

WHY?

They want to take their children away & send the parents to 're-education' camps. You know, like the Chinese are doing to the Muslims & Stalin did back in the good old days.:sick::sick:

Trump supporters (many who are black, hispanic, asian, jewish, amish) have been called nazis, bigots, kkk members, deplorables & now terrorists. They have been fired & attacked on a daily basis. Nobody can wear a MAGA hat without being beaten up.

Over 2 million conservative accounts taken down in Twitter, YT, FB & counting.

I know I know, the Lefties think this is all perfectly acceptable because of their Trump Derangement Syndrome but I can assure you that it's not acceptable.
However, it is waking the moderate Dems up & that's a good thing.

THANK GOD there are more Patriots than Marxists before the Left 'round up' every Trump supporter on their list to commit mass genocide. That is their intention. That is the extent of the pure hate towards a group of people.

The Left really have lost their minds yet at the same time, it's the cabal that is pushing the division. The cabal pay the corrupt media to promote the hate.
The Dems just fell into their trap & can't escape.

It's not about you David, it's about the TRUTH.

We need to know where a Virus originated. It's called fACT FINDING.

I never once mentioned the Spanish Flu. We are talking about Covid-19 which came from a lab in Wuhan.

Thank you.

Have a nice day.

Trump Lambasts '60 Minutes' After Episode About His COVID ...

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-60-minutes...
May 11, 2020 · “There is zero evidence that this virus came out of a lab in China,” says scientist Peter Daszak about the origins of coronavirus. He says the Wuhan lab doesn’t even have, in its inventory, the virus that causes COVID-19. https://t.co/tPIdWp9Edl pic.twitter.com/t0q6g857Rz
The danger that comes with conspiracy theorists - or those reading such sites and quote it as factual - concerning Covid 19 virus:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/world-...m-wuhan-china-coronavirus-origin-starts-work/

from World Health Org. team of doctors - Jan. 2021:

Daszak said, adding that a year after the outbreak began, it's still "unclear if China, the country, is the real source — the original source of the virus."That stance will probably frustrate the many people around the world who believe COVID-19 did come from China. Wuhan's Huanan Seafood Market is believed by many to be Ground Zero of the pandemic. The WHO team is expected to visit, but the market has been shut down and thoroughly cleaned out since the disease tore across the globe

What some scientists NOW believe:
Daszak also says he expects the WHO team to visit designated COVID-19 hospitals in the region, and possibly the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which some believe to be the real source of the virus.

Sorry for using the Mail, much of the net is down here. Conflict of interest story which has been known for quite a while - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...m-investigating-original-source-outbreak.html

Daszak might, just possibly, not be an impartial investigator.
