Retro planets in horary ?

Well atm I noticed that there are 3 planets which are retro , i.e, mercury, saturn and mars..

and I would like to know what would a "retro" planet amount to ?
does it have positive effects or negative effects depending upon the sign in which it is in ?

atm : retro mars in virgo
retro saturn in Libra
retro mercury in arise ..

I would like to know what kind of effect would these retro planets bring when placed in the above positions ..would it be a positive effect or negative one ?

Asking and Thanking ,
Jai~

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

Generally (in Western horary) they are considered to be "weaker" than direct planets; also they can refer to a returning to or a coming back to, indication as well; however, it is only significant if one (or both) of the primary significators happens to be retrograde.

(in Vedic prasna, oftentimes the retrograde status means stronger; this is a doctrinal conflict between Western and Vedic astrological outlooks, that goes right back to the first centuries AD; I am leaning more and more toward accepting the Vedic outlook regarding retrograde planets)

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

ah ~ so overall the planet being retro or not , doesnt really say that its going to give us a "negative or positive" effect ,

what it means is it just gives a "less or more" effect .

Did I get that right ?

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

Yes, I would agree with that; but also it definitely can mean a going back to or going back over or return to, indication as well.

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

I think retrograde planets usually mean that the person may also know what it is like to have that aspect absent...so perhaps they may have felt at one time a Jupiter retrograde in say the 10th house was absent. They may have had very low status or had no career but then all it comes rushing towards them or if in the second, the person may have felt poor at some point in their lives. Retrograde makes the planet more visible and therefore can be stronger (perhaps why Vedic says it is stronger). But there is a little bit of inconsistency with the planet's energy at some point in the person's life.

Retrograde in horary in my opinion means a person is unsure about something or something could be delayed. So if a job is retrograde, then some hold ups could occur however when it goes direct again they could be asking YOU to come to them...or the object that is lost may be found by someone else...etc.

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

I've seen situation change when signified by a retro planet. Going back and forth sort of way. I also suspect (based on a few cases) that the final outcome will be the opposite of current situation.

Oh , okay so what u guys are trying to say, that by having retros in the chart , the situation is never fixed and keeps changing and the outcome is not obsolete ?

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

Means that the matter will not likely finalize until the planet goes direct, this is often the case.

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

The problem with questions like this is that there are so many different answers that can all be correct depending on context. It's impossible to say that retrograde motion is either a positive or a negative thing in a chart because the context will be different.

Typically, retrograde motion is a debility, so if a significator is retrograde than it's weakened and can't peform fully. It can be a positive thing if it's the significator of a lost object or animal, or it can be a negative thing if it's the significator of an illness. I've found that if the querent's significator is retrograde, they tend to change their mind about the question and withdraw from its pursuit

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

Changing one's mind is definitely a potential quality of retrograde motion; and it is true that in the West rx has = a debility, since the Hellenist times; in the East it has been considered precisely the reverse (an exaltation-level dignity) also since those earliest times; as I have mentioned in other posts, I still TEND to consider it a debility, but my conviction about this is rapidly fading, and I am increasingly leaning toward the Eastern view...

Re: Retro planets in horary ?

ah ~ now I get it , so the horary question wouldn't have a proper conclusion until the planet goes direct ..

so if there are like 2~3 retros(including a significator) should the person pull out a new chart ? or is there any way we can overcome and predict what the "retro"(or change) would mean ?

Unhappy Re: Retro planets in horary ?

For me when it came to recent financial issues (best to keep it to myself), a retrograde: mainly caused by Mercury's quick-silvery orbit, may decrease the personal income and expect losses to show up in your wallet, bank account or checkbooks while the retrograde occurs for a certain period of time. (best not to head in a casino for "Lost wages").
