That's OK Bina - the evidence presented is clearly based on what IMO is incontrovertible archaeological proof - the archaeological proof is then compared with Plato's accounts of the famous lost city

yes Santorini looks very luxurious.

Crete I have heard very polarised views of, ie one a very healing place and another quite the opposite.

might be worth a trip.

I have long accepted that the Thera disaster had a major revolutionary impact upon the status quo of the ancient world, and was connected with significant changes in ancient civilizations (particularly Egypt); however in my personal opinion-based on many studies I have made of this subject-I believe that Thera was not THE Atlantis per se, of the very ancient times.

The documentary does show remarkable links between Plato's account and the catastrophe at Thera aka Santorini

The Thera/Atlantis hypothesis has MUCH to recommend it; however, in other several other research works I have found what (in my opinion) are strong supports for other Atlantis hypotheses. I do think the Thera disaster signaled a major change, end of cycle event, for important civilizations (Egypt most especially)

Dr. farr,
do you support the theory that Atlantis was a large island in the Atlantic Ocean between Africa and America? This is my feeling..

Perhaps Thera was an Atlantean outpost/colony or it developed after the end of Atlantis when the Atlanteans who managed to escape that catastrophe went to different new places (Egypt, Mexico, Peru, etc.) and established new cultures there.

Yes, I strongly lean toward that hypothesis; however recent (past few years) research done by several investigators of this subject has led me to give considerable consideration to the Atlantis=Antartica hypothesis.

Ancient Monuments deep under water..... there is plentiful speculation regarding 'Atlantis'

"Lost Underwater Civilizations"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52swl1wZCa0

100 word QUOTE:

'....The infamous tale of the long lost city of Atlantis may be a preserved memory of an ancient alien metropolis.

Beneath Lake Titicaca in Peru, the ruins of recently discovered temples support local legends of an underwater UFO base.

Ancient Indian texts, known as Sangams, describe sunken cities where aliens and humans intermingled thousands of years ago.

Who could have built the 600-foot stepped stone structure off the coast of Japan--a site that may predate the Egyptian pyramids by thousands of years?

Could evidence of ancient alien contact lie buried in Earth's deepest oceans?...'

I loved Thera and Crete.
I also think there was an island that is now underwater.
The civilization stretched across what is now the Atlantic, with remnant evidence close the coasts of now Caribbean and Mediterranian Seas.

Yeah, that's got something going for it in my opinion too. Although I figure it was a part of Atlantis...probably the most Souhtern protion or independent island/continent.
As the ancient esoteric texts reveal...this planet didn't experience any change of seasons for thousands of years at the onset of Humankind's presence here on Earth.
I am increasingly leaning towards my own theory that most of the worlds population was in the Southern Hemisphere for many thousands of years and the Astrology we have inherited has to considered in that context.
Clues...the reversal of reading the degrees in the Zodiac...The "Esoteric Astrologers" [Theosophists] that insist on reading them in reverse. Dane Rudhyar's quote; "All true paths of discipleship begin with Virgo", the construct of traditional charts [at birth one awakens into the world not into sleep...as following the Zodiac in 'Traditional' order leads one into the night below...where-as it should follow towards the M.C. and then descend.]
I'm about to begin a series of experiments with know historical birth charts in determining whether we are correctly defining the Nodes...it seems to me that South Node is the direction of the Soul...not North...and those 7

Well, just look up the word 'Aeon and I think you'll see what I'm talking about...they [the Eons] are not benevolent beings.]

Thera was just a small part of the Minoan civilization centered on the island of Crete. The explosion of Thera was once thought to have causes serious damage to the Minoans in 1450 BCE, but this catastrophe was redated to before 1628 BCE using ice cores. Also it is now thought that the ash cloud mostly missed Crete itself. The lack of gold found in ruins on the remains of Thera indicate that the island was evacuated before the final explosion.

That leaves mainly the tsunami. The Minoans had a large merchant fleet, but it evidently survived: ships at sea are not endangered by tsunami. In any event the Minoans recovered quickly. Their civilization continued for about 200 years before attacks from the Greek mainland destroyed some of their cities.

There just does not seem to be much similarity with Plato's account. Thera or Crete do not resemble Atlantis. And the greater Minoan civilization went on almost as if nothing happened after the eruption. The timing and location are all wrong to be Atlantis. Plato puts it in the Atlantic and thousands of years before the Minoans.

The civilization of Atlantis lasted over 50000 years. They had settlements in the Mediterranean, Africa and America. They mined gold, silver, tin, copper and inconel(orichalcum) in America and even constructed roads in South America to get the metals out. They are said to have mined uranium in Africa and constructed nukes. They had wireless transmission of power which they extracted from sun light or the solar wind. Their aircraft and ships used this wireless power and carried no fuel. They could levitate large stone blocks and other objects. They had a Ray that could reduce anything to fine powder. That is how the got rid of their trash, but it is also a weapon.

Atlantis had high technology but it did not resemble ours. Tesla may have reinvented some of it, (He said he could pulverize the Empire State Building in seconds. And his wireless power.) but most of his work has been classified and weaponized. The Coral Castle is said to be an example of construction using levitation so that may be possible today: "if you know how to do it, it is easy".
