I don't feel like my sign?? (I don't like my sign..)

Hi. Ever since I began to really study astrology (I use it to know myself better, self-improvement..), I don't feel like a Cancer. My Ascendant is Virgo and my Midheaven is Gemini, I have a Scorpio Moon, if this is any help. And ever since realizing this and studying parts of Astrology, the signs in the houses and stuff (thanks to Astrology for Dummies), I don't feel like a Cancer sign. I kind of don't like it to begin with, as I feel like Cancers, being a water sign, are way too emotional and stuff (no offense, fellow cancers,) -- I'm not that emotional, at least, I try not to be.

Does anyone feel like this, like they're not their sign? Do you ever wish you were a different sign? I was born pretty early (July 8) and I was supposed to be born October 10th (making me a Libra. Sometimes my ascendant on some sites come out as a Libra, even though my Virgo Ascendant is 28'58..) ..Does anyone know how to feel good about their sign? I just feel so weak, I wish I was a fire sign or something. I'm mostly like Water/Earth, Mutable dominant although I do find that I have qualities of all of the signs in me -- there are no 12 types of people, we're all different. Sorry for rambling!

have you done your chart? please post it here as people are visual~ you can go to astro.com and do your chart. even if your date to be born was in oct and you were born early you are your sun sign ~i am a pisces but should have been born in may~ a taurus we are who we are~ but looking at the whole chart will give you some answers

NO Cancers want to feel like Cancers astrology describes us horribly, though all aspects do help shape us within our chart..... that being said I view our sun sign as the sentimental warrior. We are determined fighters who rarely back down from a challenge or to defend our loved ones yet we usually don't go seeking trouble in the outside world. We have honour and solid values. Yet we are not scared to walk away from people who don't appreciate us....... we appreciate the past and learn from our mistakes, we cherish history and are keen observers of life, past present and future. We are generally faithful yet we won't stay with someone just because its common, we do feel things very deeply but that is were our intelligence and insight lyes. Our challenge on this earth as a sun cancer is to use our emotions to work for us, to master our feelings. PLus our ruling planet is always in our face and can turn us into emotional werewolves once in a while (which is probably a better ruling figure than a crab for us) lolllllllllllllllllllllll

There's a bunch of reasons why a person might not identify with their sun sign at all. A chart will help us identify them.

I have a Virgo Sun, Moon, Saturn and North Node. I have always felt somewhat Virgoan, even when I just read the Sun sign descriptions.

I used to think it might be nice to have some modifications to my birth chart, but have accepted my planetary placements. The grass always looks greener on the other side, as they say.

I think it's important not to reject your perceived weaknesses, but instead to accept the way you are, and put yourself in the best position to use your strengths.

You have to play the hand you're dealt.

I used to hide behind my sign and be like ' I am just a simple little crab'......... No crab is sweet or innocence plus I heard we were the original sexuality sign or something which I can believe. People still go ' oh you must be such a darling all the cancers I know are darlings, and I go indeed I am then if people that know me are around they usually crack up laughing." I am like a cancer on crack. I am an extroverted cancer....... I am a freak show sometimes I wear my emotions on my sleeves. One of my oldest dearest friends is a cancer born 2 days before me and we have similar placements yet she is pretty opposite of myself. She also has a Cancer moon and is very typical of a traditional 'Cancer type'. She is also very emotionally strong and has always been super mature. I was like the buckwild werewolf cancer. This can also be described as the mother and the child....... I also like to say Cancers are Geminis expect they are emotional oppose to cerebral which we can be as well. I also know several Geminis in long term relationships with Cancers or best friends. I think Gemini's are very easy to get on with..

I mean, I am a Cancer, I'm shy and introverted, but I know that's not just because of my sign, I'm also like that because of my experiences (mostly being bullied, having few friends -- I have low self-esteem, it's forever a work in progress, although the first few days of the new year haven't been the best.) ..And I also hate the way I look, I feel like I'm an ugly Cancer, as if we're not beautiful -- it's like my sign is the "emotional, has a beautiful personality" type, and like we're not physically beautiful.

In Linda Goodman's Sun Signs, Cancers are all about being a homebody and being emotional and being a true lover and all that stuff. That's boring to me. I'm not clingy when it comes to love (I've never been in a relationship, and though I am young, at this point, I'm already giving love the shaft), I am not a good cook at all (the most I can make is soup and instant rice, toast, grilled cheese, eggs. I make terrible pancakes/french toast. I barely cook dinner for myself.) I feel like everything about the Cancer sign is wrong, and I have NO interest in water or the ocean or being a doctor or helping people as a career! The occupation is the worst! I know that nobody is the same, and maybe it's just me, but, honestly, my sign has gotten the shaft, I feel, and I hate it.

I hate being in service to others as well but I have serious anger issues, which I keep under tight control cuz of my leo rising I want to appear perfectly pleasant...... I know several cancer females who are basically beauty queens...... I only knew like 2 ugly cancers... the men I don't find attractive. Also I know some cancer suns who are very romantically detached my venus helped me be more romantic atleast in theory... neptune would help as well.... I also knew some cancers who were not faithful and very promiscuous to their partner especially the men. I am cancer sun and I am not regarded as the good cook in my family, I am usually not allowed to cook at my parents house. I make veggie food lolllll and it offends every sensible meat eater.

And ironically I have Venus in Cancer.

Try been a male with a Cancer Sun, ha! I'm in agreenance with Love2Know.. most 'online' descriptions of the cancer sun are absolutely terrible; i'm yet to speak to anyone that can really resonate with those descriptions (keeping in mind that positions of other planets and the aspects they form make up a huge part of your personality)

I'm more Mercurial/Plutonian by nature but i still retain some of the qualities of cancer at my center, it's strange as you age you begin to notice aspects to yourself that you were sure never existed but you were merely just closed off to them..

And in any sense, I wouldn't box myself into any given description..

predominantly earth and water, so practical but emotional and sensitive.

When an outer planet make an aspect to sun, moon, mercury, venus it will change and modify that planets energy.

Remember, planets are modifid by signs, where they express are houses, how they express are *aspects*

Basic astrology
Now basically your sun sign is your 'core beliefs, values, ego' and Asc is your physical body, mode of expression and mask and persona that we all wear and hide behind, but definitely not what's going on underneath. What's going on underneath is your Sun sign. Moon sign, house placements and aspects describe your emotional and intuitive responses, also describes your view of your mother, as saturn describes your father by sign and house position.

So, think of a glass milk bottle the bottle is your Asc and your sun the milk, but the milk still has to 'come out' through the glass neck of the milk bottle....

Now aspects within a natal chart represent 'facets' of our personality, because we are all multifaceted beings. What these do is 'break down and compartmentalise' these facets into smaller bite size chunks. This does take quite a lot of self analysis and objectivity to 'see yourself' and why you do certain things and behave in certain ways. Actually it can be quite good therapy...

Remember back to your school days an opposition is 180', square 90', trine 120', and sextile 60' Now challenged aspects are conj (depending on the planets, cos some like each other and some really don't) squares and oppositions. Easy aspects are conj (if the planets get along) eg: Jupiter conj Moon, sextile and trine. Quincunx is inbetween (depending on the planets) causes health strains and unresolved or hard to balance planets/energies.

You also have a kite configuration, Grand Square and mystic rectangle.

Sometimes these quincunxs (aka Inconjuncts 150’) are obvious and recognised in personality, other times it can take a lot of self examination to identify with the planets energies and of course they (like all aspects) don't operate 100% of the time, they are simply a facet of your personality. Some say they cause health issues that are unresolved, underlying, dormant waiting to be triggered.... some say you stay at one end, to the detriment of the other, OR end up see-sawing between the two until you learn balance, integration of two unlikely pairings.

Next look at the signs, then houses and then aspects. Now the *others aspects* from these quincunxs/Yods as they can act like escape routes, that can help or hinder the expressions. A chart with lots of Yods (Finger of God) will always be *searching* for the divine answers to the meaning of life, to find synthesis

What tends to happen with quincunxs is that with progessions and transits will create temporary Yods aka 'Finger of god' configurations. Like with common TSquares, they create a temp Grand Square...

anyways i have noticed that the descriptions of the signs cancer pisces and sagittarius are not always correct. they forget to mention that cancers are caring sympathetic fake friends and backstabbers, pisces are sweet and kind manipulative exactors and some times sagittarius's intellectual philosophy about life can be "i dont give a sh**" .

i think the OP does not connect him self with the description given by the sites of having sun sign in cancer. so think he might connect him self with few descriptions i gave about his sun sign

As I pointed out in my thread on Virgo Denial Syndrome, of which this is a variant, further study of astrology is indicated for the OP. Reading books written by people who know what they're talking about (rather than relying on the vast wastelands of ignorance that compose large parts of the internet) is essential, starting with a general work such as The Contemporary Astrologer's Handbook by Sue Tompkins.

Amen to that. I'd rather have my Moon in the "sexuality sign" than the "innocence sign." Being pretentiously innocent (keyword: pretentiously, because real innocence is undoubtedly a good thing) is one of the biggest ways to get on my nerves. That, and being annoyingly vulnerable and pitying. I feel like I should be a Scorpio a lot of the time, but that might just be planetary influence.
