I know the sky at my birth, but not what it means.

at the time and place I was born, 18:10 (6:10 PM) on the 4th of august, 1987, making me a Leo by mainstream Western astrology,

the sun was in Cancer
the moon was in Scorpius
Mercury was between Cancer and Gemini
Venus was in Cancer
Mars was between Leo and Cancer
Jupiter was in Pisces
Saturn was between Serpens and Scorpius
Uranus was between Sagittarius and Serpens/Ophiuchus
Neptune was in Sagittarius
Pluto was in Virgo

mars, the sun, and venus were in conjunction - within 10-15 degrees longitude. mercury was also leading the sun by about 15 degrees.

closest oriental ascending sign is aquarius- but it did not rise above the horizon until about 18:45.

moon was waning, slightly less than 3/4.

This is what I have been able to discern Astronomically. What I don't know, is what this means for me astrologically. I've looked around online and gotten confusing and contradicting answers. As you can tell I'm pretty new to this. I'm a bit skeptical of Western astrology, to tell you the truth, but I'd also like to think I have an open mind about it. What can y'all tell me? :)

Have you used the sidereal zodiac to create your natal chart, or did you compute what constellations the various planets appeared to be at the moment of your birth?

You will quickly learn that only twelve constellations are traditionally used in both the sidereal and tropical zodiacs, and that the tropical zodiac is used primarily in Western astrology.

If you provide your place of birth, I can create and upload your natal chart using Astrodienst ;)

sure. I was born in Richmond, VA.
I didn't use a zodiac of any sort to figure that; that's just straight astronomy there.
I know serpens isn't a zodiacal sign, if that's what you meant, I was just using it as a frame of reference.
thanks for your help.

A few details about your natal chart:

Seventh house Leo Sun (not quite within five degrees of the eighth house cusp) conjunct seventh house Venus in Leo and eighth house Mars in Leo

Eleventh house Moon in Sagittarius applying towards a conjunction with Saturn--this conjunction, coupled with your Capricorn Ascendant, seems to validate your skepticism; you are likely to prefer concrete facts and physical evidence before making personal conclusions.

Seventh house Mercury in Cancer

Jupiter in Aries (at the critical 29th degree) conjunct the Nadir--although technically located in the third house, Jupiter is considered to be in your fourth due to its close proximity with this major angle.

Retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius (technically located in the eleventh house, but again, due to its close proximity with the twelfth house cusp, it is considered to be in the twelfth house). Although Saturn is conjunct the Moon, the Moon is firmly within the eleventh house.

Tweflth house retrograde Uranus in Sagittarius.

Capricorn Ascendant (retrograde Neptune conjunct the Ascendant from its dark side; can be considered to be in the first house due to its close proximity with this major angle)

Pluto in Scorpio loosely conjunct your Scorpio Midheaven (zero degree).

Aries North Node (third house)/Libra South Node (ninth house).

You've got quite a few nice trine aspects between your Leo stellium and your Moon-Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius.

Depending upon whether we use out-of-sign aspects, you may have a T-square, which is a more stressful configuration.

You've got some tight minor aspects you may wish to explore as well, including: Sun biquintile Neptune, Sun semisquare Chiron, Moon sesquiquadrate (I hope I've got the name of this right) Mercury, Venus sesquiquadrate Uranus, Mars sesquiquadrate Neptune, Jupiter sesquiquadrate Saturn, and Uranus semisquare Pluto.

EDIT: If this seems overwhelming to process, you may wish to check out the Astrology Index of Astrology-Numerology.com, especially the Help understanding charts page. After you grasp the basics, you may wish to copy and paste the text in
Format for making a reading into Microsoft Word or another word processor and follow the links it gives you to copy and paste readings for particular planetary placements, aspects, etc. You will probably not understand everything right away, but the readings will give you a good basic understanding of the nature of the planets and the nature of particular signs and how you may combine different factors to make a conclusion about an individual with a particular placement. Good luck, and feel free to ask as many questions as you need! ;)

Hi McNewbie,

Here is report from the Kepler program I have, which creates nice little Astrology Reports. It is good report for a beginner. Although it just reads planets in signs and aspects and can't give you a professional reading an Astrologer would give, it is good for a starting point. I read this type report to my partner who is not into Astrology but he found the report about 90% accurate. You might identify with the report or you might not and I will put you off Astrology for life. :D

Here is your Report ;) .

Cosmic Report For McNewbie

Stars In The Sky

Chapter 1: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others

Capricorn Rising:

Cautious, prudent, and rather self-contained, you are a person who approaches life realistically and who is not inclined to take foolish chances or get carried away by the overly optimistic or idealistic schemes of starry-eyed dreamers. In fact, you frequently have a jaundiced view of such things. You are rather worldly-wise at a fairly young age, even something of a cynic. Often the world doesn't seem like a safe, friendly place to you, and you tend to approach life in a guarded, conservative manner. You are generally calculating and careful, and are rarely spontaneous, fluid, open, and childlike.

You are pragmatic, shrewd, and an excellent strategist, carefully planning your moves for maximum effectiveness and advantage. You are willing to work long and persistently for what you want and you often do things the hard way. You do not expect others to take care of you and sometimes refuse or simply don't seek any outside help. You are often very ambitious, but quietly so. There is nothing flamboyant or flashy about your approach. You are very responsible, conscientious, and very concerned with your duties to others and how you appear in society, your "rank" so to speak.

To others you seem mature, serious, quiet, reflective, and emotionally detached. You dislike sloppy sentimentality and won't openly display your feelings, especially the softer ones. You like to always appear poised and in control and hate to show any weakness, vulnerability, or chinks in the armor.

You respect tradition and the time-honored way of doing things, and you feel there is much to be gained from studying history and also by learning from older, more experienced people. A wise mentor or father is often your guide in life, and you in turn develop a great deal of hard-earned wisdom which you like to impart to younger people.

You have a stern, authoritarian, no-nonsense aspect to your personality. You expect much from yourself and may not give yourself enough room to experiment and make mistakes.

You also tend to be rather close-fisted, to save and conserve your money and resources rather than spending, enjoying, or splurging with them. You spend money on things of quality and of lasting value, things which are good investments, but not frivolous, temporary pleasures. There is a bit of the ascetic in you. You have great self-discipline and self-control and can "do without" very well. Your tastes are generally understated and simple.

Though you may have other, more colorful and imaginative sides, the face you show the world is modest and rather conservative.

Neptune Conjunct Asc.:

You seem gentle and receptive and often you do not make a clear, strong impression on others. You have an elusive and subtle quality, and people may be nebulous about who you are. You are easily influenced by others and somewhat naive. You have a spiritual, mystical approach to life and are very idealistic and sometimes impractical.

Chapter 2: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation

Sun in Leo:

Proud and intensely individual, you really want to stand out, to be the very best you can be, and to be recognized and appreciated for your unique contributions. Doing something well and being respected for it is extremely important to you, and you cannot tolerate being in the background, taking orders from others, or being "just one of the team". You must put your personal stamp on whatever you do, and direct your own course in life. You need to have a place where you can shine, express yourself creatively, and be the one in charge.

You have big dreams and the determination, spirit, vitality, and enthusiasm to bring them into being. You also have a noble, romantic heart, and a love of the dramatic, colorful, and extravagant.

For you it is true that "all the world's a stage" and you secretly (or perhaps not so secretly) desire to be the Star or Hero in the play. You want to be great, and to receive the love and applause of an adoring audience, even if the "audience" is just one other special person. You need someone to believe in you and your dreams. Though you appear radiantly self-confident and independent, you are actually very much dependent on the affirmation, love, and recognition of others. You cannot bear being unnoticed or unappreciated.

You also love wholeheartedly and generously and really know how to make the person you love feel special. You love the magic of "being in love" and know how to keep the romance alive in your relationships. You are also immensely loyal and will defend your loved ones and stand by them to the end - as long as they never offend your pride or betray your trust. However, you like to be the strong one in a relationship and you really do not share the leading role very easily. Ideally you need to find a person who is as strong-willed as yourself, but who will not try to dominate or compete with you.

Your strengths are your zest and love for life, your creative power, and your warm and generous heart. Your primary fault is your tendency to be very egocentric, so concerned with the impression you are making and with your own creative self-expression that you forget there is another, larger world that does not revolve around you.

Sun in 7th house:

You invest a tremendous amount of your creative energy into your relationships with others, particularly your marriage or other close partnerships. You feel you need others in order to be all that you can be, and you are disinclined to solitary activities and endeavors.

Working with people on a one-to-one basis to bring about mutual understanding, harmony, and satisfaction is an area in which you can really excel. Counseling or negotiating are talents of yours.

Sun Conjunct Venus:

You are loving and well-loved by others, and have a strong need for kindness, friendship, and affection. Your artistic and creative powers are also well developed and you do everything in a harmonious, gracious, pleasing manner. Aesthetics are very important to you. Your personal appearance and attractiveness are also very important to you.

Sun Conjunct Mars:

You are assertive, energetic, active, courageous, and vital. You have a very strong physical drive which expresses itself as sexuality and passion, a desire to compete with others, and a tendency to fight. You have a victorious spirit and the will to win.

Sun Square Pluto:

You are intensely willful, zealous, and fanatical, though often you hide the intensity of your feelings and your personal motives and desires. You have an infatuation with power and an almost compulsive desire for personal recognition, the desire to be Somebody. You tend to worship Heroes who have powerful personal magnetism and charisma, and often seek to emulate them. You also have both a fear of, and an intense fascination with, death and the hidden, secret, dark side of life.

Sun Trine Moon:

You feel that you have the support of your family or others in your environment for your creative efforts and personal goals, which enables you to act with confidence. You are able to satisfy both your need to be an individual, and your need for caring relationships and a sense of belonging. You are in harmony with yourself and are therefore an effective individual.

Sun Trine Saturn:

Realistic and practical, you set goals for yourself that are modest enough for you to actually achieve. You are able to tackle long, difficult projects and see them through, for you possess self-discipline, concentration, and perseverance. You also have a strong sense of responsibility and are very conscientious in fulfilling your obligations. Often you do things because you feel it is expected of you.

Chapter 3: Mental Interests and Abilities

Mercury in Cancer:

You are highly interested in inner, subjective, and personal issues, and your thinking is based more on feelings, intuition, personal experiences, and prejudices rather than reason or logic. Intellectual abilities and accomplishments without heart or soul mean little to you. You are empathic and would be an excellent counselor, for you are a sensitive listener and deeply interested in a person's feelings and inner life. In addition to psychology, you are drawn to education, art, poetry, music, or mythology. You are not especially confident about speaking in public, but will open up and share your thoughts in small, intimate groups. You enjoy keeping a diary or personal journal and reading the chronicles of others' lives and personal development.

Mercury in 7th house:

You are often involved in verbal exchanges, interviewing, discussing, debating, counseling, negotiating, getting and giving feedback, and sharing information. You are drawn to intelligent and verbal people, with whom you can communicate and from whom you can learn. You love to have an audience to hear your ideas, and you also appreciate eloquent presentations by others.

Mercury Square Jupiter:

You have an abundance of ideas, interests, and plans for the future, and may find it difficult to focus on any particular area. You are not a specialist for you seek to get the broad overview, to see the whole picture rather than closely examining any of its component parts. Philosophy, religion, or other areas of theoretical speculation interest you.

You also possess foresight, numerous enterprising ideas, and a gambling instinct, all of which contribute to your success in the world of business. However, your optimism and grand vision can get you in trouble too; you sometimes promise more than you can deliver, gloss over important details that come back to haunt you later, and overestimate the potential of an idea or product.

Traveling is a great love of yours, especially if there is a mind-expanding or educational aspect involved, and you may travel extensively in your work. Consulting or education would be good fields for you.

Chapter 4: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance

Moon in Sagittarius:

Open and generous, you enjoy a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and you thrive on sociability and fellowship. You are adventurous, playful, freedom-loving, and always ready for a good time. You rarely allow obstacles or difficulties to keep you down, for no matter how bleak the past or present, you always expect a better, brighter future. In fact, you are uncomfortable with your own or other people's problems and emotional pain. You often try to "cheer up" or offer philosophical advice to those who are hurting, but unwittingly you avoid or ignore the emotions involved.

Friendship means a great deal to you, perhaps even more than love or romance. For you to be happy, your mate must be your best friend and encourage your aspirations and ideals. You also need a great deal of emotional freedom and mobility.

Moon in 11th house:

You get a lot of emotional fulfillment through your involvement in groups, clubs, organizations, community activities, or a network of close friends who support and care for you. You make friends your family, and feel a close kinship with people who share some ideals or beliefs that you hold dear. You need people outside of your physical family to relate to and belong to.

Moon Conjunct Saturn:

Serious and emotionally reserved, you were probably never an exuberant, playful child, and you rarely express yourself in a spontaneous, childlike manner. You are cautious about letting others get close to you and sometimes withdraw from people altogether. At times, even when you are with people, you feel lonely or isolated. Learning to appreciate your own company and to find satisfying solitary activities is essential to your emotional well-being.

Moon Trine Venus:

You feel that little, daily acts of caring and thoughtfulness are essential to the happiness and success of a relationship and you know how to make others feel accepted, loved, and cherished. You enjoy good relationships with women.

Venus in Leo:

Warmhearted and generous in love, you cannot tolerate pettiness or stinginess in your partner. You want a Hero, a Prince or Princess to idolize and adore, someone you wholeheartedly admire and can be proud of. You are tremendously loyal and devoted once you give your heart to someone.

You crave love, appreciation, and attention from others and hate to be ignored. You are rather susceptible to flattery and love to feel SPECIAL. You enjoy some drama and color in your love life and grand romantic gestures or an extravagant expression of generosity impresses you.

Venus in 7th house:

You are a very personable, affectionate, loving friend and will always have many people in your life who love and cherish you. You prefer being with others rather than on your own, and you feel very incomplete without a special person in your life to share your love with. Being half of a close, loving couple is very important to you.

You are a peacemaker, the one who adapts, harmonizes, and makes concessions for the sake of the relationship. Your charm and agreeableness makes you very popular.

Venus Square Pluto:

You experience powerful, compelling emotional and sexual attractions, and you may feel that you have little choice or control over your desires. You have an intense need for love and may be emotionally greedy or insatiable. Your love life is passionate and often tumultuous and painful as well. Jealousy, power struggles, or over-possessiveness can become areas of conflict in your relationships. Positively, you can be unusually creative and bring about beneficial and healing changes in the lives of others, motivated by your deeply felt love.

Chapter 5: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals

Mars in Leo:

You are proud and ambitious, and you strive to excel, to stand out and be recognized for who and what you are. You have a very strong ego drive and like to be Number One. You find it difficult to take orders from others or to stay in the background, and you hate being wrong; you always insist that you are right!

You are forceful, strong, energetic, determined, and highly competitive. You play hard, you play to win, and you do not give up easily. In fact, you see life as a competitive sport or performance. You love admiration and applause, and you have a strong sense of personal honor and integrity. You tend to be very self-confident, even arrogant. Because of your belief in yourself, you are able to accomplish much, but if your confidence is ever undermined, you become self-conscious, defensive, and rather belligerent.

Mars in 8th house:

You meet numerous challenges and possibly defeats in pursuit of your goals and desires, and your setbacks often occur because you've been too rash or intent on working your own will regardless of the impact on others. You are intense and passionate, and simply don't know when to stop sometimes! Recklessness with others can be a problem for you.

Mars Trine Saturn:

You possess the gifts of endurance and perseverance, the willingness to work hard and seriously to achieve your objectives. Once you decide you want something or make a commitment, you'll do it "even if it takes forever". Self-discipline is natural to you and you instinctively realize that any creative achievement is "10% inspiration, 90% perspiration". You choose practical, realistic goals and pursue them step-by-step in a well-planned, orderly way. You like to concentrate on one thing at a time and do a thorough job. You enjoy working in solitude, and often feel your best work is done when you are alone.

Mars Trine Uranus:

You are dynamic, decisive, and somewhat impulsive. You respond quickly and spontaneously to challenges, and you enjoy vigorous physical activities that require fast reflexes and a good sense of rhythm and timing. You have an abundance of energy and vitality, and a restless desire to see progress and change - you hate stagnation. You are individualistic and make a good leader, spearheading new projects and inspiring others to act.

Chapter 6: Other Influences

Jupiter in Aries:

You believe strongly in the power of positivity and in each individual's ability to make life anything desired through one's own initiative and effort. The more you rely on yourself, the better you feel, and you find it difficult to ask for or accept outside help. The joy of competing (and especially winning!) runs deep in you.

Jupiter in 3rd house:

You have a great love of learning and an eager, curious, active mind which impels you to travel and see as much of the world as possible. You read widely, and may excel academically. You love being in a teacher-student relationship and may stay in school for many years, prolonging your studies for as long as possible! You also communicate well and would be an effective, inspiring teacher.

Public relations or any field involving communications and sharing information also suits you very well.

Saturn in Sagittarius:

You have a critical, cynical attitude towards many religions and philosophies. Without realizing it, you prevent yourself from appreciating new viewpoints and attitudes. You are more rigid and dogmatic than you realize. Your approach may also be too intellectual or moralistic. You take your own political beliefs and spiritual philosophy very seriously, worrying and fretting if you are not 100% clear about some ideology or theory.

Saturn in 11th house:

You are generally not a "joiner" and do not feel comfortable in clubs, organizations or other groups of people that are centered around some common ideal or interest. If you do participate in a group, you may find the rules and procedures restrictive - or you may simply feel that you do not fit in with the others.

Being alone or with older, more experienced people suits you better than being with groups of your own peers.

Uranus in Sagittarius:

You are part of a 7 year group of people who are extremely enterprising and forward-looking. You are optimists and explorers. Your age group shoots for the stars, figuratively and literally. Space exploration takes on new dimensions as your age group pushes fervently to the next frontier. There is a buoyant and youthful optimism and enthusiasm in your group, and you have your share of great discoveries as well as pipe dreams and disillusionment. The discoveries and contributions, however, are many, and more than compensate for the failures.

Uranus in 12th house:

Most people do not see your wild, daring, "crazy" side, and you yourself may be unaware of it! You tend to hold back the unconventional, inventive, impulsive side of you nature - or to live it out only in your private fantasies. You may have strange dreams!

Neptune in Capricorn:

You are part of a 14 year group of people who are conservative and traditional in spiritual aspirations and religious outlook. Your age group returns to some traditional basics in religion, and also traditional styles in music and art. Classical music and literature have a revival with your age group, and a great deal of inspiration is gained from the masters of arts, music, literature, and philosophy throughout history. Your age group is contemplative and reflective about religious matters and you take an objective and logical approach to religious issues. Many of you are cynics and critics of spiritual and metaphysical ideas.

Other age groups criticize your group for not having enough heart and compassion. Sometimes this is true and is evidenced by some unusually crafty and manipulative fraud and deception that occurs in the higher ranks of governments and large businesses.

Neptune in 12th house:

Compassionate and extremely sensitive to the emotional tones in the atmosphere surrounding you, you are naturally "psychic" or able to sense and understand much about a person without talking to them or knowing them consciously at all. You are deeply interested in the hidden realms of life and the afterlife. Your powerful sensitivity may also remain latent or repressed through much of your life and then be fully awakened in adulthood.

Neptune Sextile Pluto:

The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities for spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner yearning and a natural propensity to seek the depths.

Pluto in Scorpio:

You are part of a 12 year group of people who have a complex and deep emotional side. Your age group has a great fascination for the mysteries of life, and members of your age group will make extraordinary breakthroughs in the understanding of life processes; major advances in biological sciences will open up new technological possibilities. Intensive probing into genetic structure and cellular processes will accelerate genetic engineering into new vistas. Your generation also probes the mysteries of birth and death, and members of your age group will even develop laboratories for forging new understanding of what happens at birth and death. Other breakthroughs will be made in the understanding of animal behavior and sexual activity. Archeological studies will unearth vast new insights into the history of man, and the exploration of the ocean will receive a new impetus, spurred by unusual and interesting findings made at the bottom of the sea.

Behind all of this work is the deep, probing, penetrating interest in the mysterious. There is a deep fascination with sex, power, and the occult as well. Hypnosis, karate, and other mental and physical training techniques are likely to be very popular with your age group. The love of mystery is also likely to bring a revival of mystery novels and movies; your age group will bring the macabre into current fashion and style.

You are an emotionally complex group, and you can be prone to some very strange behavior. Intrigue and mystery are exciting to your age group, and hopefully this does not get the better of you, causing you to act in a cruel or grotesque manner. There is a chance that crime, violence, and emotional disturbance will be relatively high in your age group, but hopefully your interest in the mysterious, strange, grotesque, and macabre will not manifest in this way.

Pluto in 10th house:

You have a powerful sense of destiny and may be unusually, even ruthlessly, ambitious. There is a very driven, compulsive quality to the way you pursue your career or other important life goals, which is likely to win you both staunch admirers and vigorous opponents.

There is a very "radical" side to you, and you may want to remake or change the world in some significant way. Depending on other astrological factors in your chart and your own decisions, you can be either very destructive or a powerful force for healing and positive change in the world.

Hi there Shiny! I must ask you this as you are doing it often and I am always wondering how you do it. When you post such a long text, how do you get it from the internet into this Forum? Do you save it first in word, then bring it to "My images" and then copy and paste into a post? Also I so often see links, like www. bla bla bla, and I just dont know how to post those links. I just type them in but I guess that is not the way to do it. Like, every time someone posts a horary question just like that without any info or selfinterpretation, I would like to answer them, putting the link to Draco's rules. AG did it once, so I thought GREAT, now I just type this address in and it's done, but the person could not open it. So I did it wrong:eek: Would you be so kind to explain how you do this? Thanks a million in advance.:) I'm a real dumbo when it comes to these technicalities.

Hi Starlink,

I am even worse with technical stuff, I just do a lot of guess work and eventually find a way to do things in the end. I can't follow instructions very well, so I probably won't give the best of instructions either. I am the biggest dummy on the forum.

If I am posting specific information from the Internet. I just paste the selected text on to my word pad, and then just paste from the word pad on to the forum.

The above reading from my Kepler 7 Astrology software I just emailed it to myself and pasted the reading from the email onto the word pad. And then from the word pad on to the forum.

With the links I always had trouble typing them, you only have to miss one letter or a capital letter or something and the link would not come up. I got really frustrated with this. I played around with my computer and found if you right click on the Internet page you want the address for and scroll down to properties it's usually at the bottom. Click on Properties and a box comes up about the internet page - you will see the Internet address on there. I just paste the address part onto my word pad, and then paste the link off my word pad and onto the forum. After you paste it on the forum (in your reply post) move the cursor to the end of the link and press enter and the link is ready to post.

Those are such bad directions, I hope you can understand them.

starlink,

I've written a few technical guides on the forums, which can be found throughout the Help with the forums and suggestions. I'll provide a few links to threads that may help you, but I'm not entirely sure what I've understood what you are asking about

How To Use Text Links on the Forums

How do you quote someon on this site?

With the links I always had trouble typing them, you only have to miss one letter or a capital letter or something and the link would not come up. I got really frustrated with this. After you paste it on the forum (in your reply post) move the cursor to the end of the link and press enter and the link is ready to post.

You don't have to go through Microsoft World to use the clipboard (i.e. the copy and paste feature); simply highlight the entire address where it appears in the text box at the top of your screen, hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and, keeping the key down, press the C key, and then click inside the text box where you type in your post to submit to the forums and hold down the Ctrl and, keeping the key down, press the V key. Voila!

Another alternative is to highlight the address, right-mouse click, select Copy from the drop-down menu, right mouse click inside the text box where you type in your post to submit to the forums, and select Paste from the drop-down menu.

These techniques can be applied not only to copying and pasting website addresses, but entire text as well; simply highlight the text you wish to use and follow the directions above.

I hope this helps! ;)

Dear Shiny, THANK you, it is totally clear to me, probably because we are both dummies here and have the same frame of mind, so we understand one another beautifully!! LOL!!!

Dear AM, you too, many thanks. The one with the text I learned in the meantime, will have a look at the links, see what that says.
I probably was not clear enough in explaining. What I really meant (apart from internet links copy and pasting) is how to bring a link to a post inside the Forum to my reply post. Like, you write something about those Solar Arcs. OK, I am now in another thread and this Solar Arc question pops up. I then, instead of writing and explaining it all again, would like to direct the person to your post, via a link. Where do I find that link and how do I bring it into my answer to this person. So I will look at what you wrote there and maybe I find the answer to that.

Hi Starlink,

Just keep practicing you will get the hang of it. I probably do everything the long way round but I get there in the end. Practice makes perfect. (A good Virgo Saying.)

I fear we have invaded poor McNewbie's thread, but I'm afraid I'd only make things more confusing by attempting to transfer these posts to a new thread. So, I apologize to McNewbie and will get out of the way as soon as this question is answered ;)

So I will look at what you wrote there and maybe I find the answer to that.

Here are the steps I personally take; the process soon becomes so automatic that I don't even think about it!

  1. Visit the thread/board you wish to link back to. I recommend that you do this in a window other than the one you are using to submit your reply.
  2. Copy the address of this thread/board to your clipboard (Ctrl+C).
  3. Go back to the window in which you write your replies and paste the web address in the text box (Ctrl+V).
  4. Type [url = to the LEFT of this address. Unfortunately, I had to type a space between the url and the equal sign in order for the program to understand that I was not attempting to use a code, but when you do it, make sure there are no spaces.
  5. Type ] directly after the web address address to close the bracket.
  6. Now, go back to the thread/board you wish to link back to and copy its title name (Ctrl+C).
  7. Paste the title name directly after ].
  8. Finally, type [ /url] (without the space) to close the code.

I find typing [ url] and [ /url] to be the fastest way to do this, but you can also highlight the entire web address and click on the little button with the blue globe under the Smiley Face button. This may sound easier, but you have to be careful you did not accidentally highlight a space before or after the address; if you do not remove these spaces before submitting your post the link will appear "broken."

So, for example, I wish to link back to the Help with the forums and suggestions sub board.

Here is what the code looks like (I had to include spaces so it would appear):

EDIT: I have uploaded a Microsoft Word document containing the code exactly as I have typed it here, with no spaces. You can use it as a model, changing the web address and the title of the thread/board.

This is the formula. Unfortunately, I had to use spaces again, but perhaps I'll upload another Microsoft Word document without spaces so you can use it as a template without removing spaces.

Interpretation, to McNewbie

McNewbie,

Since you have more planets focused at the top of your chart (outer world) than at the bottom, you focus on your outer world more than your inner world. Since you only have one opposition and many easy interconnections between your energies, you may not be used to things working against you and may be surprised when things don't work out the way you want. With Pluto (transformation, also power) conjunct (energy is combined with) your Midheaven (outer world), you might just want to push down whatever gets in your way. As you probably have learned by now, this doesn't always work!

If you are interested in learning astrology and taking control of your energies, follow the six steps in the link below.

About you,

We've all got different talents, starlink; I tend to be good about the technical aspects of the forum, but I can't figure out how to navigate and use all the features of the free astrology programs for beans! :p

Not to mention solar arcs...
