Random presidential thoughts

Bernie Sanders..

I thought it was considered to be a bad idea to elect someone for President nearing their 80s? McCain was five years younger when he ran than Bernie Sanders is today. That's all I remember hearing about back then. "But he is too old?"

My point is I don't think a lot of people actually knowingly believe some of the things they say.

Dubya, I agree: Bernie Sanders age should be considered. Yet he is just 6 years older than Hillary, and I don't really think that is as important as candidates general health, genes and mental acuity. On that point, I'd have to say I think he looks and acts very vibrant-3 appearances a day, many days in a row. His mother is over 90 years old, I've heard. He never uses a teleprompter. And without sounding mean, Hillary has had some health issues in the past and she definitely seems to be adding the weight around the tummy that I have read is not a good sign. IF I were a HRC supporter, which I am not, I would be worried about HER health.

Oh, I'll have to watch this, even though I know already it will make me sick. I hate it when leaders we knew were on the wrong track write a book 10 years later, admit to a few mistakes, etc, then make a bunch of money from their books. Yuck. How many people suffered disaster and they say "oops".

Exactly. And this is not a radical idea; it is the reality of how we have treated our vets.

I do think this prolonged campaign is to Bernie's advantage, as it will take American voters some time to assimilate the concept that our daily lives are an example of how "Democratic Socialism" is an integral part of our daily lives. Many more will eventually realize Trump, Carson, et all do not really have viable solutions to our challenges. Bernie's like a one-man intervention team, and interventions aren't fun!

I do thank you, jupasc, for your astute observations, I always appreciate them. My health has been challenged lately, so I am not responding as much as usual. Hopefully, I have a good diagnosis now, and help is on the way.

Although I suspect you do not celebrate Thanksgiving, I'll wish you one, anyway, on the chance you do!

The journalist was quoted in the NY Times yesterday, saying he had interviewed the Donald many times. We knew that. I guess there is more to come from the Donald in rude statements-he's still spiraling downward. Question is: is there a point when his followers say "enough!" Sadly, I don't think so.

Re: Romney next US President?

Hello -

I voted for Romney - he lost the election. The tide has shifted now. A conservative is what is needed in this country now more than anything. Someone who can suture multiple wounds faster than a one-legged man at an asskicking contest. Not saying it should be Carson, but metaphorically, someone who knows how to stop hemmorhaging of terror, hate, poverty and fear - in the old days - it was someone who inspired people to work and thrive, not sit around complaining that they ain't got nothing and deserve more.

The best thing a human can do in life is feel productive and be self-sustaining. This usually implies having sound mind, body or financial resources - with motivation and incentive involved.

I have a natal Jupiter - Saturn in Capricorn in the 6th house. I appreciate a leader who wants a person to do well and get rewarded for day to day work and business ambitions.

I don't see that the liberal candidates give a **** about this - so the liberal candidates don't get my vote.

I just wish I could find one candidate, on either side, that i could believe in and be inspired by.

Trumps pattern of elevating emotional appeals over rational ones
is a rhetorical style that historians, psychologists and political scientists
placed in the tradition of political figures like Goldwater, George Wallace, Joseph McCarthy, Huey Long and Pat Buchanan,
who used fiery language to try to win favor with struggling or scared Americans.
Several historians watched Mr. Trump’s speeches last week, at the request of The Times
and observed techniques
like vilifying groups of people
and
stoking the insecurities of his audiences
that they associate with Wallace and McCarthy

WASHINGTON: US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump
on Thursday postponed his trip to Israel
amid a controversy over comments
about temporarily barring Muslims from entering the United States.

Trump announced the decision in a post on his Twitter feed

and said he would meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Evidence is required

don't need evidence...

I hate it when people judge folks... when they aren't perfect either.

I don't care what he said...
I believe he could fix the economy. Illegal Immigrants do need
to stop coming here. And Protesters need to stop damaging properties...
and causing the city to lose hundred million of dollars...

Would you allow strangers into your home? No. So he has the right to
say he doesn't want people from other countries to come here... to protect everyone in USA.

He hasn't really come up with any concrete policies (google "Donald Trump economic policies" the results are very interesting), and running an economy is different to running a corporation.

Those people he wants to kick out include Americans, or family members of Americans.
Come to think of it wasn't America founded on immigration?

& to your point about allowing strangers into your home - there are some kind and generous people who open their homes to strangers and give everyone the benefit of the doubt until they prove themselves unworthy of that trust and hospitality.

I heard a good quote the other day that seems very apt - "We are only ever operating out of love or out of fear."

Founded? White people didn't find anything. They just relocated.

A land is just a land. Why do people want to come here for?

If I live in Iraq, I wouldn't care to live in USA....
If I live in Mexico, I wouldn't care to live in USA...

USA is just a land.... We all gotta work, eat, sleep, whatever....

What difference does it make....

Heck... I'll move to Canada... I don't see any difference there.

And I went to Mexico... I don't see any reason to move to USA.

I went to Paris... that place is okay.

It is just a land. Why don't people just stay in their country?
If they don't like the government, then they should become a politician.
