There is another "school of thought" on global warming that says it has nothing to do with humans or CO2, it's just natural phenomenon or part of the Earth's cycle. IMO, this is even worse scenario because in that case there is very little we can do about it.
Still, organizing ourselves and making a collaborative effort will greatly enhance our chances of survival.
It's funny, when we think about aliens from other worlds in our SF literature and movies, it is hard for us to imagine that they have 'countries' and fight each other. They appear to us as a team, as united and cohesive (e.g. Martians) and yet we can only see ourselves as divided.
