Construction on the Avalokitesvara mandala sand painting for compassion
at The American Theatre in Hampton, VA will continue today through 6 PM!
Construction will resume tomorrow
and the closing ceremony will be held at 3 PM
when the mandala in it's completed form will be swept away
denoting impermanence and non-attachment to all things

this Avalokitesvara mandala has been swept away
in a dissolution ceremony to symbolize impermanence and non-attachment
The sands have been gifted to a nearby stream
to send its healing energies around the globe.

Just think... do you know where the sides of your head are? If not you may have lost your ego to such an extent that it's been replaced by another :surprised:

The view ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
https://justdharma.com/s/zkb90
Once you have the view
although the delusory perceptions of samsara may arise in your mind
you will be like the sky; when a rainbow appears in front of it
it’s not particularly flattered
and when the clouds appear, it’s not particularly disappointed either.

There is a deep sense of contentment.
You chuckle from inside as you see the facade of samsara and nirvana;
the View will keep you constantly amused
with a little inner smile bubbling away all the time.

If we are looking to our JOBS and to MATERIAL THINGS
to tell us how we are, what we are worth
and where we fit in the world
this is a sign that we have become profoundly CONFUSED
about the order of things.
It shows we have missed the point
about how we human beings stand
in relation to the material world.

*The Essence of the Buddhist teachings*
The Essence of the Buddhist teachings is

as the following verse states

Do not commit any evil actions,
Engage in excellent virtue,
And tame your own mind
This is the teaching of the Buddha.

The entire Buddhist Dharma can be summarized by the instruction
to give up harming others and to benefit them
... For human beings in general and, in particular, for all followers of a spiritual tradition
the most important prerequisite for being a Buddhist is
to give rise to altruistic motivation
... A spiritual practitioner needs to have a peaceful and serene mind
and altruistic attitude...

Cutting the root of basic confusion ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
https://justdharma.com/s/7xwya
In order to cut the root of basic confusion
one should rest in the natural state without altering it.

Once one is resting in the genuine natural state
one should neither follow one's thoughts nor search for an antidote for them.
If the intrinsic nature is left in its natural state, as it is said
'When water is not stirred, will become clear'
Just as dirty water, if not stirred, will become clear

if the nature of mind is left unaltered, as it is
deluded thoughts will automatically clear up.
The natural flow of the intrinsic nature will come automatically.

JE TSONGKHAPA AND TWO TYPES OF MEDITATION

In earlier times, there was an argument that said
“....Analytical meditation is not important for ordinary meditators.

It is for scholars or intelligent people.
Ordinary, normal people should just do still meditation....”

Je Tsongkhapa did argue with that point and did not accept it.
He said it was totally wrong.

In his view, the two meditations have to work together to hit the point.
Even ordinary people have to practice analytical meditation
and scholars and intelligent ones have to practice concentrating meditation
the meditation that tries to calm down their minds.
In Buddhism, it is important for you to find the result yourself.
Buddha already taught the whole thing.
No later teacher or guru can find anything new that Buddha didn’t teach.
Even Nagarjuna did not find anything new that Buddha hadn’t taught.
After Nagarjuna, Je Tsongkhapa didn’t find anything new
that Nagarjuna had not found.
They found the same thing, but they each found it in their own way.
