SOME DAYS THE MOON IS IN SAME SIGN BOTH TROPICALLY AND SIDEREALLY
but not always

On this thread provides BOTH

SIDEREAL astrologers daily transits

&

TROPICAL astrologers daily transits

Today there is a Full Moon in Tropical Sagittarius

and
assuming clear skies locally
transiting Moon is clearly visible

as
a Full Moon in Sidereal Scorpio

The overlap of Tropical and Sidereal generally depends on what Ayanamsa is used. There's also a Lunar cycle in Vedic that makes it more involved than just the Ayanamsa. No big deal though--I really appreciate these Moon reports!

The overlap of Tropical and Sidereal generally depends on what Ayanamsa is used.
There's also a Lunar cycle in Vedic
that makes it more involved than just the Ayanamsa.
No big deal though--I really appreciate these Moon reports!
The Indian Government has chosen the Lahiri Ayanamsha as the official Ayanamsha.
This is the Ayanamsha most sidereal Jyotishis follow, chosen in the early to mid 20th Century.
This is not an ancient decree from the hoary sages of old as most seem to think
but a political decision
made to make sure business and government employees take their holidays on the same day!
Before this decree, there was no standard Ayanamsha.
You could move from state to state in India, and the Ayanamsha would change by geography.
The Lahiri Ayanamsha is actually the Chitra-pakshiya Ayanamsha invented by the Ketkar brothers.
In 1954-55 it was stated that this Ayanamsha was:
based on no authoritative source
was adopted to avoid public opposition
that the proper Ayanamsha should indicate a precession of 20 degrees
instead of 23 as is currently accepted Ryan Kurczak

Here are exact quotes from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayanamsa.

“Actually the current orthodox panchangas (the Chaitra Panchangas) or Panjikas
show April 13 or April 14 as the beginning of the sidereal Nirayana year.
Due to the accumulated error of about 3 ½ degrees in the motion of the Sun,
i.e. 3 ½ days in the calendar date; but if we are to correct the position
the Nirayana sidereal year should begin on April 10 or 11
i.e. a concession of 20 degrees should be given instead of 23 degrees.” S. K. Kar 1954

“The Calendar Reform Committee proposed the adoption of 23d 15m 0s as Ayanamsa
in order to avoid opposition from the public.
The Chaitra school too has come into being in order to avoid public opposition.
Neither of these, however, is in conformity with the truth.” S. K. Kar –1955

MOON TRAVELS SWIFTLY
Moon spends approximately two and a half days in a SIGN

SOME DAYS THE MOON IS SAME SIGN BOTH TROPICALLY
AND SIDEREALLY
but not always
because there is a minimum difference of 20° up to a maximum of approximately 24°
between TROPICAL AND SIDEREAL
i.e.
and so
Any planet at 0° OF ANY TROPICAL SIGN
when viewed SIDEREALLY
is between approximately 6° to 10° of the PREVIOUS SIGN dependent on the ayanamsha

Today at this time the moon TROPICAL location is:

TROPICAL SCORPIO Moon approximately four hours ago entered SECOND DECAN OF SCORPIO
domicile of MARS currently in PISCES
Transiting Moon is in separating square aspect with transiting AQUARIUS SUN
in applying Trome with transiting PISCES VENUS & PISCES MARS
in separating sextile with transiting CAPRICORN MERCURY

Today at this time the moon SIDEREAL location is:

SIDEREAL LIBRA Moon in approximately two hours enters THIRD DECAN OF LIBRA
the domicile of VENUS currently transiting AQUARIUS
Transiting Moon is in separating Sextile with SAGITTARIUS MERCURY
separating square with CAPRICORN SUN
in applying trine with AQUARIUS VENUS & AQUARIUS MARS

The Precession of the equinoxes is a process whereby the position of the stars and constellations
gradually move in relation the seasons.
This means that the twelve astrology signs
that once roughly aligned with the constellations of the same name, no longer do.
The rate of precession is one degree every 72 years = 0.838 minutes per year
or more precisely, 50.2675 seconds per year.

I see JA is up to the usual informative excellence in this thread:wink:

I haven't posted here in a couple of years, but I have been continuing my researches during this time, and hopefully will be posting about some of my results in the near future.

Just a note relative to this thread: close parallels of declination between Moon and planets and Moon and individual stars, can yield very important hints regarding daily astrological influences operational via the Moon: remember that a close Parallel of declination has been considered equivalent to a STRONG conjunction, by many of the oldtime astrological authors; I myself look at declination figures first (when taking up a map) even before checking position (whether tropical or sidereal) and aspects (for the Moon I use an orb up to 1.5 degrees same side of the ecliptic as = a Parallel of declination...many, however, limit the orb to a maximum of 1 degree)

Conversely, if the Moon is in tight Conjunction with a planet, but, say, in wide Orb of Declination and on opposite sides of the Ecliptic, does your research suggest the Conjuntion is significantly weakened?

and I shall endeavour to do that
