In honor of Saturn in Virgo's stationing direct, and to help one understand the kinds of issues that Saturn in Virgo might be wanting to teach you - I've started this thread.

Please post songs that you think describes Saturn in Virgo issues. Include a link to the video if you can, song if you can't - and also, please include the lyrics.:)

I'll begin with the song, "Perfect" by Sara Evans. This one is actually very good for the Virgo/Pisces polarity. Including the polarity of Pisces softens old Saturn in Virgo up quite a bit!;)

Sara Evans: PERFECT

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwE7-vksZPI

If you don't take me to Paris
on a lovers' getaway
it's alright, it's alright
If I'd rather wear your t-shirt
than a sexy negligee
it's alright, it's alright
Every dinner doesn't have to be candlelit
It's kinda' nice to know that it doesn't
have to be

CHORUS
Perfect
Maybe every little piece of the puzzle
doesn't always fit
Perfectly
Love can be rough around the edges
tattered at the seams
Honey if it's good enough
for you
it's good enough for me

If your mother doesn't like the way
I treat her baby boy
it's alright, it's alright
If in every wedding picture
my daddy looks annoyed
it's alright, it's alright
Don't you know that all the fairy tales
tell a lie
'cause real love and real life
doesn't have to be

CHORUS

Bridge:
Oh you don't mind if I show up late for everything
When you lose your cool
It's kinda' cute to me
Hey ain't it nice to know that we don't have to be

CHORUS

Oh, it's good enough for me
Yeah, you're good enough for me
Oh, you're good enough for me

And, since so many people are having such a hard time with the Saturn station, how about one to lighten things up a bit?:D

Weird Al Yankovic: AMISH PARADISE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRMpdqqb2ks

As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain
I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain
But that's just perfect for an Amish like me
You know, I shun fancy things like electricity
At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows
Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... fool
And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that
Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone
I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline
Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin
But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine
Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
I've churned butter once or twice
Living in an Amish paradise
It's hard work and sacrifice
Living in an Amish paradise
We sell quilts at discount price
Living in an Amish paradise

A local boy kicked me in the butt last week
I just smiled at him and turned the other cheek
I really don't care, in fact I wish him well
'Cause I'll be laughing my head off when he's burning in hell
But I ain't never punched a tourist even if he deserved it
An Amish with a 'tude? You know that's unheard of
I never wear buttons but I got a cool hat
And my homies agree, I really look good in black...fool
If you come to visit, you'll be bored to tears
We haven't even paid the phone bill in 300 years
But we ain't really quaint, so please don't point and stare
We're just technologically impaired

There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar
Not a single luxury
Like Robinson Caruso
It's as primitive as can be

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
We're just plain and simple guys
Living in an Amish paradise
There's no time for sin and vice
Living in an Amish paradise
We don't fight, we all play nice
Living in an Amish paradise

Hitchin' up the buggy, churnin' lots of butter
Raised a barn on Monday, soon I'll raise anoder
Think you're really righteous? Think you're pure in heart?
Well, I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art
I'm the pious guy the little Amlettes wanna be like
On my knees day and night scorin' points for the afterlife
So don't be vain and don't be whiny
Or else, my brother, I might have to get medieval on your heinie

We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
We're all crazy Mennonites
Living in an Amish paradise
There's no cops or traffic lights
Living in an Amish paradise
But you'd probably think it bites
Living in an Amish paradise

FL, does this imply that Saturn transit can be softened if a planet in a softening (can't find a better word) sign is involved? Saturn is now over my Venus that is in opposition with Jupiter in Pisces. I subscribe under the first song. It's been my song of the last month

I think the second song is very representative of Saturn in Virgo :D In general...

I have natal Saturn in Virgo.......where "concrete Mercury thinking" often blocks "unfettered Neptune intuition".......So, I regard the Saturn/Virgo lesson as being not to lose sight of the Soul and it's purpose (Neptune/Pisces) by being too immersed in the everyday material world activities of the Ego.....Or, as Tom Waits (the Soul) sings in "I'm Still Here" :-

You haven't looked at me that way in years.
You dreamed me up and left me here.

How long was I dreaming for?
What was it you wanted me for?

You haven't looked at me that way in years.
Your watch is stopped and the pond is clear.

Someone turn the lights back on.
I love you till all time is gone.

You haven't looked at me that way in years.
But I'm still here................

iwonder,

Well, one of the main lessons in any transit - even from, and especially from the "harsher" planets ( such as Saturn) is to balance the polarity and raise it to a higher consciousness/integration in your life. Therefore, incorporating Pisces into Saturn in Virgo will help one learn the lessons Saturn in Virgo came to teach.

In your case, you have extra help in that you have lovely Jupiter in Pisces natally to oppose and balance out stern taskmaster Saturn in Virgo sitting on your poor little Venus.:) Milk that opposition for all its worth! I would see this as a lesson in learning to love yourself and also to take better care of your health - get lots of rest - explore meditation and spiritual healing - let go of perfectionism/inner critic. Watch for the time Saturn is exactly to the degree opposite Jupiter in Pisces, especially. This also might be a good time to focus on animals, especially pets. If you are not vegetarian, you might think about this possibility as well, at this time. Natally, one of the major themes in the Venus in Virgo opposing Jupiter in Pisces is love and care for not only our own health, but also that of animals - that God loves them, too! You don't have any aspirations about being a veterinarian or running a no-kill animal shelter, do you?

As to "Amish Paradise" - yes, I think it illustrates the theme of Saturn in Virgo in the out-of -balance mode, which causes us to think about work/service and perfection alone - and everything "utilitarian" - no frills - no imagination - very "plain jane" existence. If it's not useful for survival - then it has no place. If it doesn't glorify hard work - throw it out.

It's hilarious to watch, though! Weird Al is a comic genius!

Thanks for posting that, EJ! I loved the video - very Neptunian!

Not a very Saturn in Virgo description - BUT a very good example of the Neptunian/Piscean influence to balance out Saturn in Virgo. Loved it!:)

Great astrological insight you gave, too. That was a fascinating viewpoint.

Got another one for you:

Donna Summer: SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd4PeXrGKEs

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

Onetta there in the corner stand
and wonders where she is and
it's strange to her
some people seem to have everything

Nine a.m. on the hour hand
and she's waiting for the bell
and she's looking real pretty
just wait for her clientele

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

Twenty five years have
come and gone
and she' seen a lot of tears
of the ones who come in
they really seem to need her there

It's a sacrifice working day to day
for little money just tips for pay
But it's worth it all
just to hear them say that they care

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She already knows
she's seen her bad times
she already knows
these are the good times

She'll never sell out
she never will
not for a dollar bill
she works hard

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

She works hard for the money
so hard for it honey
she works hard for the money
so you better treat her right

I can relate to this post with Saturn rising in Virgo, here is a song by the lovely Delta Goodrem The Analyst, I have this song from her album. I could understand the lyrics totally. I didn't know there was a video to it. The Analyst

Prepare yourself to meet
The girl who cannot sleep
Dividing every question till the questions are comeplete
Every twisted tongue she studies everyone
She won't leave any stone unturned the night is oh so young

Oh oh she's traveling back in time
Questioning every line that someone said
Oh oh she's trying to understand

Free her mind she's always the analyst
Silent space the culprit the catalyst
Trying to make sense of her life
Digging around in the dirt she's a slave to the work
She's always the analyst

Can you be sure we haven't met see the eyes they don't forget
They wander through the passage-ways that tease a restless mind
Can't afford to slip the picture's gotta fit
Her world's a photograph that gets dissected bit by bit

Oh oh she's traveling back in time
Questioning every line that someone said
Oh oh she's trying to understand

Free her mind she's always the analyst
Silent space the culprit the catalyst
Trying to make sense of her life
Digging around in the dirt she's a slave to the work
She's always the analyst

Re-living the mistake she's made not a moment for the curious girl

Free her mind she's always the analyst
Silent space the culprit the catalyst
Trying to make sense of this life
Digging around breaking it down
Neurotic thoughts
Burning the ground
Every sight every sound
She's always the analyst

One for bankers and expense-claiming UK MPs then, FL........Honesty, by Billy Joel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E1tJ8dhq0U :-

If you search for tenderness, it isn't hard to find.
You can have the love you need to live.

But if you look for truthfulness, you might just as well be blind.
It always seems to be so hard to give.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can always find someone to say they sympathise.
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve.

But I don't want some pretty face to tell me pretty lies.
All I want is someone to believe.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can find a lover.
I can find a friend.

I can have security until the bitter end.
Anyone can comfort me with promises again.

I know, I know, I know................

When I'm deep inside of me, don't be too concerned.
I won't ask for nothing while I'm gone.

But when I want sincerity, tell me where else can I turn.
'Cause you're the one that I depend upon.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

eddie reader is the singer.... incredible clarity of voice, kind of old fashioned, and not loose with her charms.....and just a great song ohh... and the words

I don't want half hearted love affairs

I need someone who really cares.
Life is too short to play silly games

I've promised myself I won't do that again.

It's got to be perfect

It's got to be worth it
yeah.
Too many people take second best

But I won't take anything less

It's got to be
yeah
pertect.

Young hearts are foolish
they make such mistakes

They're much too eoger to give their love away.
Well
I have been foolish too many times

Now I'm determined I'm gonna get it right.

It's got to be perfect
. . .

Young hearts are foolish
they make such mistakes
. . .
It's got to be perfect
. . .

It's got to be
yeah
worth it
it's got to be perfect.

Freedomlover,

No, I don't have aspirations on becoming a vet. But I've always had pets and I've been a vegetarian for some time already. For the last couple of weeks I am seriously thinking about starting yoga (isn't it Piscean?) because I feel the need to relax (feel tight and nervous = Virgo), and my spine (Saturn) was giving me troubles. Interesting...

Can't contribute lyrics, though :)

I'll offer up a song by Patti Griffin called "Mary." It's one of the most sobering reality checks of a song I've heard in a long time. While not purely Saturn in Virgo, there's nonetheless a lot of it in the message. The video is a live performance, but the studio recording from iTunes (or the CD) is exquisite...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOxpvKuEruk

Mary you're covered in roses, you're covered in ashes You're covered in rain
You're covered in babies, you're covered in slashes
You're covered in wilderness, you're covered in stains
You cast aside the sheet, you cast aside the shroud
Of another man, who served the world proud
You greet another son, you lose another one
On some sunny day and always you stay, Mary

Jesus says Mother I couldn't stay another day longer
He flies right by and leaves a kiss upon her face
While the angels are singin' his praises in a blaze of glory
Mary stays behind and starts cleaning up the place

Oh Mary she moves behind me
She leaves her fingerprints everywhere
Everytime the snow drifts, every way the sand shifts
Even when the night lifts, she's always there

Jesus said Mother I couldn't stay another day longer
He flys right by and leaves a kiss upon her face
While the angels are singin' his praises in a blaze of glory
Mary stays behind and starts cleaning up the place

Mary you're covered in roses, you're covered in ruins
you're covered in secrets
You're covered in treetops, you're covered in birds
who can sing a million songs without any words
You cast aside the sheets, you cast aside the shroud
of another man, who served the world proud
You greet another son, you lose another one
on some sunny day and always you stay
Mary, Mary, Mary

Great thread, FL! Reading the lyrics, seeing the videos, I thought, "...yes, brilliant!" -- especially Mary, Mary with Patti Griffin and Natalie Maines (lead singer for Dixie Chicks) harmonizing on this song, which was their contribution to the Katrina Aid concert -- thank you, Atreyu!

Is this Saturn in Virgo amazing or what?

Look at the synchronicity of Draco's post in which he contemplated Muslim women and the powerful
Black Madonna in connection with Saturn in Virgo.

Now, the courageous collective energy of the Iranian women...feminine beauty and power...awesome.

I also want to mention Sepideh, a character in the award-winning Iranian film About Elly (which was awarded the Golden Bear at the Berlin film festival and top honors at the Tribeca film festival) -- her name means "Dawn" and something is definitely dawning now --
and also the woman who played the title character so mysteriously and beautifully -- check out the
Saturn energy in this movie -- Mercury's mental "fixing" does not work.

Isn't it amazing? The energy of this movie has woven together with the Souls of women in Iran and the Soul "dawning" in each of us...Saturn in Virgo is not to be trifled with when light appears at the end of a tunnel.

EJ53 as you said, the path leading to an awakening during this breakthrough Saturn in Virgo is here:

I have a friend born in 1965 with a natal Uranus, Mars, Pluto stellium in Virgo
opposite natal Saturn in Pisces (sitting in a stellium of his own between her natal Chiron and natal Ceres) I can only imagine that this current reversed conjunction of Saturn/Virgo opposite Uranus/Pisces is sending her searching for insights.

Eric Francis, the activist, artist, astrologer's blog is worth checking out:
http://planetwaves.net/pagetwo/

just scroll down to a link to the amazing interview on CNN with a 19-year old Iranian woman.

So, pulling these thoughts together (and apologizing for orbiting "out of bounds" a bit),
I'll paraphrase Eric's comment heard on last evening's radio broadcast:

"It's about the collective,...and still few people are able to put their head in a collective space...collective responsibility is our U.S. 'glass ceiling' (i.e., remembering the November 5, 2008 Saturn/Uranus opposition on U.S. election day, are we now going to 'leave it to Barack?')"

There's a woman who was born in 1921 who asked me to do her chart reading and guess what????
Her natal Saturn is 19* Virgo opposite natal Uranus at 10* Pisces. More Saturn/Virgo mystery.

As Eric Francis suggested, as we approach 2012, Astrology becomes more about becoming co-creative
rather than "predictive". And a mutual resonance with the power of Saturn/Virgo opposite Uranus/Pisces wakes us up as a collective because we all have this energy -- by aspect -- in our chart. It's just causing a double or triple effect for those with natal Saturn/Virgo --

Wow. Thank you forumeers! I'll add here some words from "Revolution" by the Beatles, which Eric played during a break in his broadcast:

"We're all doing what we can...
If you have money for minds
that hate, you know
I'll tell you, you gotta wait."
