Questions about Pluto (natal & in transit)

So I've read that Pluto takes about 35 years to transit through each sign.
"Pluto represents what is buried deep inside of you and needs to be brought to the light, or to have light brought to it."

So my question is this. Pluto is now transiting my 1st house - just moved from my Asc and is still conjunct my Asc but also conjunct Neptune. I have most of my personal planets in my 1st house (next mercury, then venus, then Sun). So it is likely that for the next 30-35 years Pluto will be conjunct a personal planet. Does this mean I will be going through a series of transformations for the next 30 years?

What is Pluto like in transit or conjunct a personal planet, is it usually uncomfortable or destructive?
For those who have experienced Pluto transiting a natal planet, what was it like? and how did you transform in the end?

Natal Pluto is the closest planet to my MC (but not in conjunct) does this mean anything?

it definitely hits you with a lot to make you transform.. how hard it is depends on how adaptable you are. i began life with pluto at the end of libra beginning of 5th, and the immediate transit across scorpio opposing an 11th house taurus stellium that first hit mars, then my sun, then venus, then merc, then just over the border of 12th house gem is my moon

=equals=

mother that took off, close in age autistic brother, parents divorce, father man whore so lots of gfs and half sisters and parental drama, their addictions, 1st stepmother was extremely abusive, when my dad and his gf or wife would split, my sibling was gone too and hardly saw after, was half brought up by paternal grandma but she died when i was 12 and i was the one in the room with her as we individually said our gbyes (she was a scorpio), was the anti-popular in school, but as it passed eventually and i came out over time and healed some, i haven't had the popularity prob.. it will be opposing my asc soon, so im interested to see how that's going to run, i think it will be hard but for the better, will just trudge through as always :) anyway, these were the manifestations of a hardcore pluto opposite.. i left a lot of detail out because i could easily write a novel, but given what i have mentioned, if you could imagine it, it probably happened.. this is with opposition to a stellium so it was relentless and extreme for that reason, and it was once pluto was in scorpio.. not trying to scare you.. just an extreme example.. bear with it it will be for the best in the overall picture, and help you grow to who you need to be.. do be careful and don't put yourself in needless jeopardy

I got pluto conjucting saturn at MC in libra. Whole life been through deja vu. I feel, its still in process of transformation but dont know where its headed.

your saturn return is coming up, adjust the date to the future to when that happens and see if anything jumps out at you there

i didn't look your chart up so i don't know exactly where your natal saturn is by degree, i just went through my saturn return (multiple times, **** retrograde lol) last year ..it's slow moving so of course it's gradual and spans a bit of time, it's not instant.. i'm still reeling from the after effects of mine as it dwindles away ..i mean adjust the transits by day to when saturn is at the same degree it was natally and see what other planets are transiting your saturn and mc at that particular time

You have transitting Pluto conjunct Mercury in Cap in the 1st. Now you have a natal sextile which gives more ease of expression. I think the way you express yourself will be more intense and you may even think about the heavy subjects such as life after death, secret and taboo matters, sex and the occult. Learning about these matters also.....Your mode of speech may also change......

Pluto conjunct Neptune is generational and all people your age experience it. In the 1st house it would affect how you relate to the immediate environment. You can change your appearance and personality in some way.

Once Pluto approaches to sextile your natal Pluto in the 11th, there will be big changes with your group endeavours, sciences and technologies and your hopes for the future will be more deep and meaningful. Psychology and human condition will be of great interest. You can become much more interested in humanitarian endeavours and hope to help with major transformations in that area. Pluto is always intense and far reaching in its effects. Corporate involvement and big business will be influential in some way. There will be a death of your old hopes and wishes and newer ones come into being.

Basically, yes it means lots of major transformations in your life

The houses are like the backdrop of a stage, the setting if you like, the planets are like actors and the aspects are how the planets behave in that settings/stage....So remember you may find it harder to identify with planets and Neptune in this case in Cadent houses….

Transits
I use--- 1° approaching, 1° exact and 1° departing. If you click on the link listed below for the online ephemeris it will list all planets at any given time. Learning astrology is like learning a new ‘language’ and obviously the more effort you put into something the more your knowledge and understanding will increase. All transits act as ‘background’ influences through a house, until it makes a mathematical aspect to a planet inside or an Angle.

For 'timings' I would look to the retrograde hit as the most important trigger, then look to see what the quicker planets are doing especially mars & mercury --

astro.com has fee six month transit forecast plus when you get into Extended chart selection, look at the three tabs after calculating a chart under ‘method’ default is circular wheels (on left), middle is special charts and in their you get graphic ephemeris 1yr (or 5years) with natal = transits for 1yr and lots more. BUT you first must learn or memorise the 'glyphs' ie: shorthand for recognising what these maps/graphics mean.

For example when you post or reply to a chart the 'smilies' to the right and just under them [more] if you click on there it will bring up a whole loads of 'glyphs' Mercury Uranus conjunction (+or - 8') trine aspect 120' Libra

Now it's more important to focus on transits from Jupiter to Pluto (poss mars as this is the ignition key)and these planets when aspecting something in your natal chart 'set off' the difficult or nice 'aspects - potential - problems' that your chart expresses. By that I mean if a benefic planet like Jupiter hits/touches/transits your venus, mars or uranus these could be experienced very pleasantly. BUT if your natal venus is afflicted, or badly aspected say conj saturn then jupiter will not has such a good effect. It all depends on how the natal planet is 'aspected'

For me I would say external 'events' must be seen by transits, progressions or Solar arcs to Angles ie: Asc/Desc & MC/IC most other times these events are 'internal, psychological matters as in between the ears'

Now astro.com uses a much wider orb, possibly something like 5° or even 10° that’s why when you use the free transit forecast service a transit goes on for months and months. BUT common sense should tell you when the transit is ‘exact’ then it’s at the strongest. Some astrologers swear by 1° approaching produces ‘events’ some say the 1° exact, some say 1° off for triggering events. I personally look to the exact and 1° off for ‘timings’ especially the retrograde hit (backwards hit)

This last website link is rather nice because it gives interpretations of what the ‘Lord’ of the house cusp ruler means ie: T Jupiter sextiles natal sun, so wherever Leo rules in your chart is connected to the area this transit will be affecting –

vannasan, are you familiar with an ephemeris? It is a timetable showing when each planet will be in a given degree in what sign. You can access a free one by looking at the menu on the left-hand column on the home page at www.astro.com . This will enable you to find out when your transit becomes exact. Then I think you should give Pluto an orb of a couple of degrees on either side of exact. Note that Pluto is often retrograde, so it can roll back and forth over a planet. This way you can also predict when a planet will enter or leave a particular house.

Pluto has an eliptical orbit, so it will spend a fair bit of time in one sign, and a lot less time in some of the others.

Hi Vannasan

You have Pluto Capricorn transiting your 1st house, so issues of physical individuality, status & power plays will be interlinked with your public face to the world - i.e. career/vocation advances or complete overhauls, will be a theme.

Your natal Pluto is high in your chart, so on your part and others watch out for jealousy, manipulation & power hungry emotions during this long transit of your 1st house. Saturn is transiting your 10th, so focusing on key relationships that you can trust will be a focus of your career direction and it's overall stability/authority. This perceived limitation feel of Saturn however, will provide some much needed firmness while Pluto cleans out your first. Watch out for your involvement in ego struggles on the public stage too.

Hope this helps **

Here are some approximate ingress dates for Pluto. Note that because it often goes retrograde, including over the sign change degrees, its final ingress can be over a year from its initial one.

Pluto in Cancer: 1914-1937
Leo: 1937-1958
Virgo: 1958-1971
Libra: 1971-1983
Scorpio: 1983-1995
Sagittarius: 1995-2008
Capricorn: 2008-2023
Aquarius: 2023-2043

Hi, I read your post, and what I got was that Pluto is pretty powerful in what it affects. I just wanted to ask: you talked about an autistic brother, how did Pluto affect that (sorry if I didn't get your meaning, but did you have to take care of him?)
I will say that when Pluto was in exact conj to my Asc, I was going through a very difficult depression period, often could not find meaning in life and wondered if I should just let go. Well needless to say, I didn't, but it was a powerful time in my life (I'm not sure what I've learned just yet).

Did you mean my Saturn return, or the person who posted after?

Thanks Claire, I have for the past 2 years or so been looking at more social/ humanitarian types of studies as that's the area I want to work in because I feel very passionately about that. Having moon in Aqua 2nd house and mars in 11th may have a bit to do with this too? My problem is that I'm uncertain how to make this all work.
I do have major problems right now expressing myself especially in public (could it be Mercury sq MC?) but hopefully this Pluto transit will get me to the stage of being comfortable with who I am and my own ideas so I can express myself better... and more assertively :)

I have a question for you both: as I said previously about going through a major depression period when Pluto was conj my Asc, I have often wondered how I managed to get out of it (because no matter how bad I felt I always wished the next day would be better) - do you think that Moon conj Jupiter could assist in giving someone a hopeful nature despite setbacks?

Thanks for that info, I was not familiar with ephemeris. So then, it should be in conj with my Mercury from about Feb - May 2012, then go retrograde and hit mercury again toward the end of December 2012 (assuming the 1degree conjunct as Astrologer50 said).
2018 & 2019 it will go for my Venus and Sun. I knew in essence that it wouldn't be hitting all my planets at once, I just wasn't sure what exact times, so thanks for linking me to this.

Thanks Joseph,
I did notice that Saturn was transiting my 10th, and was wondering how this would affect my career direction, but I like the way you linked it to the Pluto transit. I felt like I had been manipulated on the work front recently by 3 colleagues (but then I tend to look too much into things that aren't there so it could just be my imagination), so I am not certain.
For my part, I hope that I will not be the one struggling for power or have my ego take over me. I understand that pluto can also mean that the ego dies. I know that in some things I do have too much pride, so this may be a start of letting go and becoming more humble with this transit.

I have a question, it may not even be significant - if my Sun is in exact conj with a fixed star (Sulaphat @ 21'55" ), should this be affected by Pluto in any way?
