North & South Nodes- Where should I be headed?

So I just recently learned that the North Node points to our destiny and where we should be headed in order to reach our full potential, whereas the South Node is our past life and skills we learned that has been carried over to this life, and it also represents the karmic lessons we need to learn and what we need to stay away from. What I'm confused about is that my North Node is in Taurus in the 8th house, while my South Node is in my 2nd house in Scorpio. Because Taurus and the 2nd house are similar, while Scorpio rules the 8th house, I am so lost as to what I'm supposed to be doing and what I'm supposed to stay away from in order to break away from my comfort zone. Any help in interpreting this would be greatly appreciated!

The north node requires a more conscious effort to reach whereas the south node is unconscious.
North node in Taurus can imply the need to cultivate a more steadfast nature. Taurus is very earthy and practical. The 8th house is also the house of psychoanalysis and rehabilitation.
Scorpio can be spiteful. It tends toward introspection, with holding. It can be insightful. In water very emotional and deep. 2nd house is persoanl finance but also self-esteem and confidence.

An 8th house NN (assuming no conjunctions or squares) would tend to luck through inheritance, the partner's assets, and other people's money generally, with the SN in 2 somehow corrupting your income - the most likely cause is often spending money or giving money to people who aren't worth it. Doesn't mean you should never give money, but it does mean that you may attract more than your share of folks who try to take advantage of you financially, so be careful of that.

Thank you Olivia, that was very insightful! The SN part in particular is very accurate and familiar...in the past I have been used by countless people and have been robbed of all my money several times, literally as well as figuratively. I do have Saturn and Pluto conjunct the SN.

As far as the NN...I am currently benefiting through my partner's income and have been financially dependent on a few of my ex's as well. I have my sun, mars, and Black Lilith Moon conjunct my NN and of course all opposing Saturn and Pluto. I wonder if the fact that my sun, mars and NN are in the Taurus 8th house means that I should be looking for a career that has to deal with the unconscious or other people's money, then? I'm a psychology major and plan on getting my real estate license as well.

I understand that it's never a good idea to plan your whole life based on what your chart says you should or should not do, but any insight would be helpful because I am at a stagnant phase in my life right now. Thanks again

Thank you Gemini, I knew the 8th house had to do with sex & intimacy but now that I know it also has to do with psychoanalysis it makes a lot more sense that my NN is in the 8th house...as I am preparing to apply for grad school hoping to get into a clinical psychology program. Thanks again for the input!

The north node in the 8th might be telling you then to look at therapeutic venues that are grounded in practical practice like Ellis or another reality based therapy versus some deep introspective practices or traditional therapies. As you have a south node in scorpio you may have an unconscious knack for penetrating peoples secrets, in the 2nd this might be a part of your self-esteem . But Taurus is practicality, persistence, firmness, working with a set routine.

Well that fits. Remember the north and south node is a life long process. Pluto is also part of the karmic process and its polarity point.

8th house is not just about joint finances, to me it's also about *other peoples value systems* as opposed to our own in 2nd house matter. But it also depends what aspects N Node receives.

Remember planets are modified by signs, where they express are houses and how the express are aspects....

Of course...sorry I am new to this (obviously). Have a look!

As your N Node is within 5' of 9th house cusp I would look to 9th house for Lessons also.

Planets conj House cusp
“Ascendant at 15’ Libra and Jupiter 13’ Libra. That would place Jupiter in the 12th house, right? But many thoughtful astrologers would read this as Jupiter being conjunction with Ascendant, and end up reading it as bringing its action to bear in the first house, rather than in the 12th.
This same idea would apply for each and every house cusp. If the planet is IN THE SAME SIGN as the sign on the next house cusp, and close enough to be CONJUNCT WITH that next house cusp, the action of the planet will be directed into oncoming house”

Ptolemy says the influence of the house begins to be felt 5° before the actual cusp.

Next look how Node is aspected and with square to Jupiter suggests you may go OTT on occasions connected to 5th and 8th house matters ie: romance, love affairs, sex and joint finances.

Also 8th house is *other people's value systems* as opposed to 2nd house 'your own' values/belief systems...:whistling:

I have my North Node in Pisces (11th house). My question is, I recently read the North Node in Virgo, and that totally sounds like me, much more than the Pisces. What's the connection here - am I missing something. I don't know if it has to do with my particular chart or something that I am missing. If anyone can explain this to me I'd appreciate it.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have Virgo and Pisces as intercepted signs in my chart.

Thank you!

You may want to ask the question as a new post. It may be hard to get good feedback asking under someones elses question.

You have calculated your chart using the default on astro.com of placidus and I use Equal House system and am a modern astrologer. Lots of people that come into Astrology get their free charts calculated at www.astro.com and the default ‘house system’ used is Placidus and think that’s just the norm and all that there is……..BUT that is just the tip of the iceberg. You can change the default on astro.com in Extended Chart selection to Equal house and a few more.

Throughout the forums but mainly in natal astrology there are two main branches Placidus (unequal size houses) v Equal House (whereby each house is same size) but lots more……. For more information on these go here.

It's only with study and research will you be able to assess where your planets are deposited and in which houses... thus see which 'glove fits'

With Equal house you don't get intercepted signs or houses either, much simpler in my experience

It's quite common to identify with your South Node for the first half of your life. Your chart is void of fire planets and only Neptune is above the horizon suggesting a subjective personality. Mercury retrograde and stuck in 12th house conj saturn, suggests a lack of confidence in communicating from childhood and perhaps a male/father authority figure either cut you off from speaking/asking for what you wanted or challenged your every word possibly....

Your title "where should you be headed" is a very generalised statement. Where exactly do YOU see yourself headed is my question??

With mars/venus square pluto, you should take up some physical exercise, sport or martial arts

Pluto retrograde in scorpio above

Mercury Retrograde
* reconsiders before speaking
* lots of inner conversation and thoughts
* expresses self better in writing
* feels misunderstood

Jupiter Retrograde
* has doubts about what they deserve and so ...
* finds it easy to settle for crumbs
* feels superior in some way inside
* abundance is felt on the inside
* looks inside for answers to religious questions
