Career options are assessed by MC any planets conjunct, where the ruler of MC is placed, it’s aspects, then 2nd house ‘how you earn your money’ and planets there, ruler of cusp and where it’s placed, then 6th house of ‘type of work you do’ any planets there and how they are aspected.

Researching rulers of houses will help you understand more where I joining the dots so to speak

Thanks for all those links, but I was really looking for a third-party analysis of my situation. God knows how much time I spent analyzing my own chart, and rather than do more individual analysis, I believe it's time for somebody else to give me some sort of an answer.

Hi PD, I think your question would be easier answered by a horary read. For example, your natal may show indications of going to medical school, but it would be a guessing game exactly when. With a horary question you make a natal chart for the time you ask the question, with the location of where you are when you ask the question. So next time you think of your question "Will I be accepted into any of the schools I applied to?", make a chart. :sideways:

Hi Ray, I don't think using a horary chart in the case of my question is a good idea. If the answer is "No, you won't get into medical school" when I ask the question today, and then it's "Yes" a week from now, that sounds very ridiculous, doesn't it? I don't believe that horary astrology applies to my situation.

PD, you are misunderstanding. A horary question "Will I be accepted to the schools I applied to," is perfectly applicable to your situation, the answer would be either "yes or no you will go to the school(s) you applied to", not "no you will never go to medical school" or for the week you asked; the answer applies to the time frame you had in mind when you asked.

Transits aren't going to help you for this inquiry as much as horary can; horary is very straightforward and easy. But it's not my loss, just letting you know of an easier method instead of wasting your time glossing over generational aspects and north node/MC conjunctions, etc, while trying to make sense of it all which will be quite a headache and won't provide any definite answer, guaranteed.

Dear Astrologers:

I have officially begun the journey of applying to medical school. I will begin studying for the admissions test this summer, and I'll take it next summer.

I have attached my progressed chart and a chart showing my natal and transits for October 2012, the time when I should be hearing back from the schools.

Do these charts show any indication at all of being accepted? PLEASE let me know! Is there some sort of assurance written in my chart that I will get a Yes?

Thank you so much!!!
I don't think horary is a good idea, too many variables make it unreliable.
I think you will get into medical school in 2-3 years because by then transiting Jupiter will be entering your 9th house of higher education and Transiting Saturn will have moved over your MC career house and opposing your IC which rules your home indicating you will likely move out of the area to attend. What's more, Transiting Pluto is moving over your ASC and moving into your 1st house, again showing transformation and a lot of change coming your way. You certainly seem to be set up astrologically to be in medicine. What area interests you?

There's not too many variables if the question is kept straightforward. It's a yes/no answer. Looking at multiple transits for the next 2-3 years involves far more variation.

Possibly, I still think in general horary is unreliable. I have seen it to be incorrect too many times. Of course it can have something to do with the interpreter but not always. I am more inclined to believe Dr. Farr's method of the Magic 8 Ball then anything as it simplifies the process of horary. Maybe doing horary now for a question 2-3 years later is premature.

I still think he will go.

It's been almost always right for me.

If it's something they really care about and desire, I don't think so but I haven't done horaries that far out; transits are too open to interpretation to give a concrete answer, in my opinion.

I agree with you about horary, Vista. I don't think it's reliable either. But enough on the whole debate about horary's effectiveness lol. That should be saved for the horary forum, not here (right, Ray?).
Sigh .. it's not a debate. People should be allowed to share views without it being seen as a "debate"--no need to add "Right, ray", which some might interpret as sarcastic. I was giving you a suggestion for a more efficient way to find your answer, if you don't want to do it that way, that's perfectly fine--no loss to me.

To me, horary is just like consulting tarot cards. "Will I have any cavities next week at the dentist" is something that horary or tarot can answer, not "will I get into medical school in two years".
That's completely off, just so you know.

I've got a great book on transits, and I'm going to make another post later on about their meanings and how they apply to me.
Good. I hope they can help you with your question; I think writing about it as you intend is the best way to learn too.

Hi PD,
I didn't do anything fancy when I looked at your chart, I didn't even look at your transit or whatever that other one was that you posted, strictly looked at the natal. Didn't even really look at transits, just saw a few things that made me question if that was the way you were leaning. I could look at it and give you more details if you would like. :innocent:

O.K. so here is a little brief synapses of your natal chart, granted I did not really go into the normal rulers of the house etc. just looked at your planet placement and their signs.

:neptune: 12th house :sagittarius:= You have an intuitive sense abt things, you are aesthetic
:jupiter::conjunct::uranus: in 11th house :sagittarius:= you can be temperate, benevolent, progressive and unemotional, you may be friends with ppl from all over, some of your friends may be strange, often times 2 sets of friends, 1 traditional the other more bohemian.
:scorpio: in 10th house= profession of Scorpio, often dealing with death rebirth afterlife religion etc...:andy:
:saturn:/:pluto::conjunct:MC in 9th house :libra:= reasonable, thoughtful, social instincts in the house of higher learning
Your energy, mind, drive, and love are all in the 8th house which is ruled by Scorpio which I talked about earlier for the 10th house.:joyful:
:sun:in 8th house :libra:= urbane, regenerative, life after death
:mercury:in 8th house :virgo:= methodical, medicine, research
:mars::conjunct::venus:in the 8th house :leo:= (This is the one I was laughing about earlier) with the Mars conj. Venus it brings a strong sexual appeal to the table then I saw it was in the 8th house (SEX) and it's in Leo (look at me look at me :w00t:), so needless to say it's quite a combination, it gives you quite a presence. Sexy, sensuous, passionate, fervent and romantic. You should have a long life with a quick pleasant death, which I'm sure you don't like thinking about your own death which is rather ironic due to your chosen profession.:whistling:
:northnode:is in the 6th house= health profession, so it brings some luck and ease to that area.
Haven't really studied Chiron so I'm skipping him. I was taught "old fashioned" Astrology so I'm not up to date with the newer additions, sorry.
:moon:in 3rd house :aries:= very close with siblings, can be easily influenced by family, can have the tendency to change schools or start and stop frequently, the Aries influence on the emotions can make you more susceptible to volatile emotional outbursts, but it is 29 degrees so it should be tempered by the Taurus by now. The Aries is emotionally aggressive and initiative, where as the Taurus is more stable and expressive. (did you catch all that?)
Now you do have 2 grand trines and that is a good thing, but don't allow that to make you complacent or take things for granted. Sometimes a little hardship does a ton of good for perspective and growth. The Venus Mars Moon Neptune combination give you a sexual mysterious nature. (I just keep picturing one of those crime scene drama shows... LOL)
Sorry it took me so long to respond, I had to go to my grandfathers to cook him dinner.

In fact, let me start with one of the transits above, and I'll describe what my plans will be while that transit is occurring. And I'm quoting this from Robert Hand's "Planets in Transit":

Tr. Pluto sextile natal Jupiter in 11th House: June 2011 to Dec. 2011

"At this time you may have several chances to get ahead in whatever you're trying to do. This transit favors business and professional interests as well as any other enterprise that involves working with others in groups. [I PLAN ON VOLUNTEERING AT LOCAL HOSPITALS DURING THIS TIME!]

On a philosophical level also, you will be more idealistic. You are attracted to large systems of thought that explain the society or even the universe as a whole. Consequently, this is an excellent time to study law, religion, philosophy, or even MEDICINE. Pluto's general concern with healing and regeneration, combined with the nurturing aspect of Jupiter, makes this a good time for the study of healing in any form. [I'LL BE STUDYING FOR THE ADMISSIONS TEST DURING THIS PERIOD! SEE?]

On a more mundane level, this is an excellent time for any dealings with the law or with authorities [DOCTORS?]. At work, your relationships with employers will probably be quite good, and they will be of greater assistance than usual. [HOPEFULLY, THIS BODES WELL FOR WHEN I HAVE TO ASK DOCTORS IF I CAN OBSERVE THEM IN PRACTICE!]

I swear, it's amazing how I suddenly made the decision to go head-on into pursuing medicine, and transits like these are/will be happening. I had no previous knowledge about this!
SO, if you know all this and are SO confident why are you asking us for confirmation??

Saturn conj MC (which I also have) WILL delay any kind of success until midlife - if at all.

Saturn in Conjunction Midheaven You're a diligent worker and others feel that you can be counted upon to deliver what you promise. Your rise to the peak of your career may not happen overnight, but Saturn always rewards a job well done when the time is right. Step by step is the key here. Suitable career options may include: politician, government worker, manager, accountant, corporate executive, construction and building worker, chiropractor, doctor, or dentist. Wherever precision combines with form, or reliable leadership qualities can be brought into play, you have a career possibility.

http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/aspectssaturn.htm
Now pluto conj MC suggests

Pluto in Conjunction, Trine, Sextile to Midheaven Expect some major shifts in the area of career. You can rise to a position of great influence and then completely change direction at some point.
Pluto is conducive to uncovering that which has been hidden. Its action is rejuvenating. Anything which has been laid to rest can be recycled to begin anew. Consider some of the following career potentials: archaeology, espionage, psychiatry, mortuary science, the secret service, banking, or the medical profession--especially surgery.
http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/aspectspluto.htm
Pluto is all about control and where you want it most. As you can see/read, it has a multitude of examples where pluto can operate including surgery - but there are many others:tongue:

Having sun, mercury in 9th house (Equal house) would make a good teacher, lawyer and lots of other things as well
http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/h9.html
Also having Jupiter/Uranus conj in 11th also conj 12th house cusp suggests, working behind the scenes/in isolation, which many careers would do including surgeons

Thanks for all those links, but I was really looking for a third-party analysis of my situation. God knows how much time I spent analyzing my own chart, and rather than do more individual analysis, I believe it's time for somebody else to give me some sort of an answer.
My way of helping newcomers is for them to do more research and learning rather than just ‘drop the answer in your lap’ and not necessarily to provide professional readings and forecast future events. If you are truly interested in astrology, I and most others here will help you…..

Having a Sagittarius MC which is the sign of the teacher and I do indeed teach astrology. This forum is a wonderful community of all mixed levels and types of astrologers. So I may provide links to encourage you in the hope that if you are sincerely interested enough you will do the research and enlighten yourself….

I agree with Ray, horary is probably the best resolution here...if you are frustrated by horary, it shows you lack of knowledge and expertise in this area. Personally, I don't touch as it's too complicated for me, but by doing the research and study, they claim to 100% to answer questions posed in the correct manner.

Astrology is not about sitting home on the couch eating nachos and waiting for the planets to make good things happen in your life. It is always your responsibility to work towards making your own dreams come true. Horoscopes simply help you to schedule your actions for the best possible outcome

What in my chart makes you think that I'm set up to be in medicine, Vista? Just curious...I want to see if what I'm thinking matches up with yours.
Now having said T Jupiter going through 9th house *can suggest* higher education there are *NO guarantees* :innocent:

student4life,
:northnode:is in the 6th house= health profession, so it brings some luck and ease to that area.
Node doesn't bring luck per se, it's the person *life lessons* and directions for learning this time around.
All depends on which house system you work with. I use Equal house and this aries moon would be 4th house. I also have Aries 29' moon badly aspected and in 3rd house conj 4cusp. I have never been influenced by family, have no relationship with siblings at all. Never changes schools and never have emotional outbursts.. I also have a stellium in taurus in 4th house and therefore work from home. Aries moon is not in my opinion 'emotionally aggresive' but agree with will intiate matters.....

Caprising, I agree Transiting Pluto is FAST approaching Ascendant (if the time is correct) and will enforce major changes and transformations and will last upto two years. It has already been squaring sun enlivening it and quite poss causing some dogmatism. As sun is square neptune natally which can cause illusions, confusions and self delusions and poss identity crisise - this T Pluto will help define ego/identity and add great determinations....

Notice also an *unaspected* mercury which is also a 'singleton' AND retrograde toboot..Also natal saturn is a singleton to.
Mercury Retrograde
* reconsiders before speaking
* lots of inner conversation and thoughts
* expresses self better in writing
* feels misunderstood
Although mercury retro is quite common and is good for research, studying the singleotn aspect and not linking in to the chart can suggest swinging from extremes of expressions....

Singleton planets
“If a planet happens to be the only one in an element, quality, or house type, that planet is a Singleton and it can funnel all of the “energy” of the horoscope. This planet is often the most important one in the horoscope. In other words, if you just interpret the position of this one planet by sign, house, and aspect, you will get to the “heart of the horoscope”. The effect is the same as if that planet were the only one on one side of the chart.”
http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/13.0Singletons.htm
http://www.astrologyclub.org
http://en.mimi.hu/astrology/singleton.html
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-2334.html
(There is a book out by Shirley Lyons Meier, "Elemental Voids, More than Meets the Eye", which gives a good discussion of missing elements.) The Inferior Function can be a source of great motivation and creative expression.
http://www.astrologyclub.org/articles/singletons/intro/singleton_intro.htm

Now whilst a lack of elements can be problematic, lacking water element - the empathy and sympathy for medical profession may well help to keep you *detached emotionally* I would have thought it rather important element. But to help this, you have 4 planets in 'water houses' in Equal house at least

The grand trines are part of a very nice/lucky Kite formation

Hi P.D., your getting some good feedback to your question, so I'm tempted not to answer you, but there is something that I would like to point out. Your natal has 2 grand trines yes?, ....grand trines have a negative side to them just as planets and signs do! Those squares and oppositions in our charts are very beneficial in the long run, although we whine and complain about them to ourselves they help (or "force") us to build character and some tenacity, you know the saying "When the going gets tough"! Grand trines are more likely to allow us to fold when under pressure, because we are used to gliding through life without really trying that hard. Did you know that in the past (in some countries)a doctor had to learn medical astrology to pass the medical boards requirements to be registered as a doctor? Maybe thats where you're supposed to head, pluto transiting your ascendant should clear up just where you are going to go, I mean who do you want to be in the near future, a doctor who uses ground breaking (for our time) techniques to be one of the best ever, or "just another med school dropout?
You have the ability to do this, and wether you do it or not your still going to go through some depressing times, as those of us with saturn strong in our charts do! Thats the trade off, serious study, not much leo sunshine and a certificate that will give you not only endless pleasure when reflected upon, but also the lasting satisfaction that a unique contribution to mankind brings! (money can't buy that).

Mr. Cap, my good friend! How are you doing??? Hope all is well with you! For some reason, I had that instinctual feeling that you would somehow pop up here .

I never knew that being fluent in medical astrology was required to pass the boards. Frankly, I think that should be required (not only to provide further insight into medicine, but it's also good for psychology/psychiatry as well). With my grand trines and kites, yes I do feel that everything should come easy to me, and whenever I didn't expect them to, I quit from whatever I was doing. That's obviously the wrong approach to take, and the fact is that I'm very well-suited to engage in long, drawn-out, arduous tasks. I can survive through those, but for some reason, I've always gotten fed up too easily. That is definitely going to change :)

Astrologer50 brought up some good points, which I'm going to address next. As of right now, though, I've committed myself to preparing for medical school, and I have no further options right now, so I set myself up for an all-or-nothing type of situation. Whether that's good or bad, I don't know, but at least I've created something that I can devote my full-time energies on.

Hmmm...well Saturn conjunct MC does suggest delaying any kind of success until midlife. When's midlife? Around 40 or so? If that's the case, let's say I enter med school in 2013. I will be exactly 30 years old then. Med school takes 4 years, THEN another 4 to 5 years of residency. So in actuality, I would have my MD by the time I'm 38 or 39. That's around midlife, no? It's also interesting how my Saturn Return occurs in 2012, just in time for my med school application. Wouldn't that suggest a review of my entire past and embarking on a brand new cycle that will set me up for the rest of my life? If so, the beginning of medical school seems like an excellent result of my first Saturn Return.

You mentioned teaching...I was in a master's degree for that earlier in the year, but I dropped out in order to focus on preparing for med school. As a future doctor, I would also have the opportunity to teach medical students down the line, so this aspect really won't be wasted.

As for Pluto conjunct MC, you mentioned surgery and working behind the scenes. This is exactly what the branch of medicine, pathology, is all about: it deals with disease and death, autopsies, specimen dissection, and working a lot behind the scenes under the microscope (which is the bulk of the work). I have hands-on experience in this field too from my college days, which should look great on my application

I hope that we've just figured out my destined path in life! I honestly feel that I'd be so stupid not to pursue this.
