Mercury is however combust (at almost 7 degrees from the Sun), also retrograde and in exile. As it also has difficult aspects and is also for the 9th house...

Right on. Indeed, I have noticed this too. This is a very tensioned time. Happlily Venus comes in to cast a sextile to Mercury, so love/feelings should help stabilize our nervous outbursts.
