Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

Cyril practiced modern astrology, using techniques such as solar and lunar returns, transits and progresssions. He was a scholar too, so his craft had some traditional underpinnings. It's to be...

Re: Ayanamshas in Sidereal Astrology

I don't understand why this thread was moved. Ayanamshas have been a subject of Western Astrology since Cyril Fagan started it.

Moon Mansions

Some traditional astrologers are starting to use Moon mansions, Arabic or Vedic. However, the ancient Vedic rishis not only saw the position of the Moon on the Nakshatras but also those of the...

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

More precisely, Modern astrologers are also inheritors of Ptolemy and the traditions of ancient Arab and Hellenistic astrology.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

Without Alan Leo's work, we may not have astrology today. Keep that in mind.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

Yes, I believe the traditional Ptolemaian system is better thought out. Simple is better.

Good point. Unfortunately, they are also a distraction. And have served to weaken and promote...

Re: Question on Profections

Profections are so simple, yet so powerful, I love them! I had read the Arabs profected the most important points on the Chart. Not just the Ascendant.

By profecting many points you get more...

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

You are right, there is quackery everywhere. Even in astrology. Misunderstood as it is.

Correct. Unfortunately, there are also naive people and clever charlatans.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

I don't think traditional astrology is garbage. In fact, it's what I want to study most. Hellenistic, Arab and European astrology up to the XVII century.

However, I believe the future of astrology...

They don't care about Sidereal astrology neither. :(

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

David, if you don't like Sidereal astrology, maybe you could try Galactic.

"Skydram Ayanamsha (R. Mardyks)

(also known as Galactic Alignment Ayanamsha)

...This ayanamsha or zodiac...

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

I am talking about the fatalistic cookbook interpretations and the third rate traditional astrologers who were harming it's reputation.

Modern astrology was a breath of fresh air, until today...

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

It isn't. You seem to have a solid case for your use of tropical. My problem is with the so called traditional astrologers who don't get it. Traditional is not just excluding the outers.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

Astrology is geocentric. Relavity validates the geocentric model of the cosmos to some degree, but not tropical astrology. Modern astrology should respect it's sidereal roots.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

He is a learned man, but claiming he practices the "authentic" Babylonian astrology is dubious at best. The reality is he practices a mix of Babylonian astrology with Hellenistic/Medieval.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

I think both "moderns" and "traditionalists" are regressive because they have abandoned science.

Honestly, if you want prediction, just pick a pack of Tarot cards.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

The problem is because something is old doesn't mean it's right. It's true traditional astrology has more history, a more articulate language and meaning than most modern astrology. But then it...

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

A system that runs clockwise (East -> West), makes more scientific sense, since the zodiac goes in the same direction. So the current system is synchronized to work in an unscientific way.

The...

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

Western Hermeticism was not created in the renaissance. It's much older than that, it goes back to ancient Greece, where the Corpus Hermeticum was written. And it's roots are in ancient Egypt.

Re: Is it true traditional astrologers exclude modern planets?

I think this is the best solution for traditional astrologers. Use the outers, as moving fixed stars with a wider orb for conjunction.

For example, pluto sextile uranus is almost useless in...
